I never had even the slightest thought about moving to Israel. 

I was very comfortable and set in my lifestyle growing up in Brooklyn NY. 

But Hashem obviously had other plans for me. 

While I was here in yeshiva, my friend suggested I go out with my wife. 

I asked a Rabbi what to do and he said that you should never turn down a shidduch without at least looking into it. 

Almost a decade later and now I live here with my wife and 3 kids. 

I miss my family and I miss Brooklyn every single day but the life here in Israel is just so much more meaningful. 

The point of this post isn’t to tell you to make Aliyah, but more about letting Hashem guide you throughout your life.

New York Pizza is better than Pizza you can get in Italy. 

I’m not scared to say it (okay maybe I am scared but I’m not telling you my address 😂). 

And don’t give me “but Italians invented pizza!”. 

Yeah and Ford invented the car, how’s that going?

Italian pizza is so overrated. 

Floppy crust. Flavor of the sauce is solid but even that…

Either way, food preference is an opinion. 

And it’s the same in sales. 

Just because you LOVE your product, doesn’t mean you need to stuff it down everyone’s throats. 

Find the people that actually benefit from your product and sell to them. 

Don’t sell Italian pizza to a New Yorker.

I just had an INSANE thought about social media and how powerful it is. 

The last 365 days, I have a poured a good amount of effort into LinkedIn. 

Not gonna say I’ve been the best or even spent more than a few hours a week creating posts. 

But I’ve given it a pretty large investment. 

And it’s paid off in ways I could’ve never imagined. Actually changed my life pretty dramatically. 

Now put all that I’ve done into a few numbers.

-> Over 28,000 engagements

To think that a successful YouTuber gets these numbers ON A SINGLE VIDEO is MIND BLOWING. 

And these are just impressions as opposed to YouTube which is actual watch time. 

The real potential of social media and the power to spread your message on it is unbelievable.

Thats what happened to me today. I was in the middle of some very important Knicks related work 😜, when I got a text from Avi.

"Wanna come meet me for lunch in Jerusalem?"

We all hung out together. Ate falafel. Talked some sales.

I've spent over 10 years trying to study and understand sales but that's not what helped me see success in my business.

When I first started Icebreaker, it was a mess. Nothing worked. I tried every “practical” fix.

“Are you related to Rav Braha in Jerusalem?”
I tell him that I've never heard of him.

He went on for 5 minutes about how amazing he is and that I should go. I took it as a sign and I went.

I tell the Rav everything. The struggles in business. The frustration. The fear of not making enough.

He asks me one thing: “Do you say Parashat Haman every day?”

I say no. He tells me to start. And he tells me that me and my wife should say Birkat Hamazon more carefully.

I took it seriously and started saying Parashat Haman almosts every day. 

Everything shifted very very fast. Weirdly fast in ways I can’t really explain with a practical reason. Like an out of nowhere 180 flip.

The crazy part is that I didn't really change anything drastically in my business. I continued doing the mostly the same hishtadlut.

It's been a nice while since this happened and yesterday I was at the Kotel, with my tefillin on and Parashat Haman open.

I was thinking to myself, this used to be a once in a while type of thing but now it’s part of my life. I say it almost every day. It's become something that I use to connect with G-d.

Believe me I still have tests every minute of every day, that’s part of life.

But now I try to turn to Hashem when I need guidance. I try to listen to the messages that he gives me. I try to let him show me the way.

Sometimes all it takes is a tiny action like buying a little tzedakah pouch.

I'm stuck in Israel and I'm obviously extremely happy that I am. But... 


...I can't say I'm not feeling FOMO from OJBA.

If you were there, how was?

Whenever a prospect tells me that they just need “more leads” I run away. 

Why would leads be a bad thing you might ask…

Leads are a liability if you can’t convert them.

Most small businesses think more leads equals more growth. And I used to think this way as well. 

But it’s not true. More leads just expose the gaps in your sales engine.

Give a small business a cold lead and nothing happens. 

They’re built on referrals and inbound. 

Those leads close ten times easier than cold leads because the prospect already knows the problem and the timing fits.

Cold outbound is different. You’re calling people who don’t think they have a problem. Businesses that are comfortable and set in their ways. 

Your job is to expose a problem that they didn’t even notice. 

That takes skill, process, and patience. 

Plus, your sales cycles stretch because timing is unpredictable.

Fix the engine before you pour in more fuel.

Someone explain to me why a recruiter should get paid $30,000 for placing a candidate. 

$30,000 doesn’t make sense and isn’t justifiable. You’re getting taken advantage of. 

Yes, certain recruiters really have access to high level candidates who aren’t on the market. 

Some even have a team of people who are experts at poaching top level executives from other companies. 

But to charge 30% of a sales hire just because you sifted through a couple resumes? 

And then you run away when they have issues with the hire or need some guidance?

Icebreaker Sales Development does recruiting differently.

Instead, research your ICP at scale.

Narrow down your niche as much as possible (Example: If you sell to people in Real Estate, try targeting only COOs at 10–30 person mortgage brokerages in Philly). 

Then call 100 of them. Learn their main recurring problems. Continue to hone in on those and incorporate them into your pitch.

You don’t need to know where they went to college or that they like pineapple on their pizza.

Personal doesn’t mean custom, it means relevant. Relevant to their pain.

So stop wasting time on "research" that doesn't actually go anywhere.

There’s 3 main differences between reps who close deals and reps whose deals always stall.

1. Proactive. 

They take action before their sales manger asks them about the deal. They ask for support from their team. They follow up before momentum is lost. They always make sure there’s a clear next step. 

2. Organization skills. 

They utilize their CRM correctly to make sure nothing falls through the cracks. They have a set system instead of getting emotionally caught up in specific deals. 

3. Disqualify deals.

Instead of getting caught up in a deal that they hope will close just to keep more active deals in their pipeline, they only work deals that are a good fit and that can benefit from the product. 

The best part is that these are things a rep can learn to do. 

Any good quality sales rep with the right system around them can consistently close deals. 

But it’s up to you to build that for them. Or I can build it for you.

Wage parity in New York Home Care is full of players who just wanna make a buck and run. 

Most people don’t care about the service you get. They definitely won’t go the extra mile.

I almost missed out on a $30,000 deal. 

But I had a CRM so the deal didn’t fall through the cracks.

I saw a post about issues with collections in the recruitment industry and to me it’s obvious. 

The whole issue is baked into the model.

Agencies charge $20K for a $70K hire, hand over a couple candidates, disappear, and hope the client pays. 

Then everyone acts shocked when the rep underperforms and the invoice turns into a fight.

Just because a recruiter “worked hard” doesn’t mean the hire was worth the fee.

But the issue with collections starts because recruiters aren’t taking accountability. 

My clients put money down before we even start the search.

One of my clients closed a huge deal but they still weren’t happy.

Why do people still believe this stuff?

Most reps lose deals in meetings they’re not even in.

Here's what I mean. You hop on a demo with your champion. They're thrilled with the product.

Next, your champion walks into an internal review and somehow your deal dies before you even get a chance to meet with the decision maker.

This is because your call with them isn't what closes the deal, the internal story that they take to the decision maker does.

Most champions get minutes to explain why your product is going to solve a problem for the company. They need something concrete to be able to explain that.

Instead of talking about features which make deals stall, you gotta ask meaningful questions in every discovery:

-> “What’s the actual trigger that made you look at this now, not six months ago?”
-> “Compared to doing nothing, what has to be true for this to feel worth the hassle?”
-> “If this goes badly, what would ‘badly’ look like for you personally?”

Then we create a short but customized presentation for them to use internally. We use Flowla to build that. It gives them the ability to take the conversation to leadership.

If they ramble when asked to recap the product, the deal is done.

Tighten the story for them. Give them a clean problem, a clear cost, and a reason to choose you.
