At ASML, a leader in the semiconductor industry, I contributed to developing a platform designed to provide insights into machine operations. This platform played a crucial role in monitoring for errors, facilitating timely fixes, and employing artificial intelligence to anticipate potential failures.

Due to the proprietary and sensitive nature of the technology and processes at ASML, much of the detailed information about my role and the project specifics is classified. This experience has honed my skills in handling confidential data and working within strict operational security guidelines, reinforcing the importance of discretion and integrity in high-stakes environments.

Senior Fullstack Engineer

At Alphabet Lease (part of BMW Group), a leasing company, my role involved developing modular components for a complex system and leading several frontend projects. As a Chapter Lead I spearheaded technical innovation within our eco-system. This included conducting Angular upgrades and enhancing the codebase for better performance. The frontend team, comprising 10 members, was responsible for overseeing and managing 20 separate Angular projects, each an individual application.

I also contributed to the refactoring of a key application, transitioning it to a monorepo structure with Nx to improve maintainability and scalability.

The code that was written is quality tested by an external party and was found to be excellent.

Increasing mobility of citizens between EU countries results in a growing number of people seeking healthcare outside their own region or country. To facilitate the exchange of patient data among countries, the European Union collaborates with member states on an international infrastructure known as eHealth Digital Services & Infrastructure (eHDSI). The Netherlands is integrating into this system of national contact points with its own national contact point called the National Contact Point for eHealth (NCPeH). Through the NCPeH, healthcare professionals can digitally retrieve patient summaries from patients in EU countries requiring unplanned care in the Netherlands.

Working while being a student

During my studies, to gain practical experience, I wanted to work. I faced the challenge that no company was willing to hire me part-time. Driven by resilience and determination, I didn't let this stop me. Instead, I chose to start my own freelancing 'company' as a way to gain that experience. I've worked on a variety of projects, ranging from small websites for local artists to large-scale applications like a planning system for a major transportation company. This experience has given me a versatile skill set, making me broadly deployable in various IT roles.

The tech stack I've used includes: WordPress, PHP, Laravel, JavaScript, AngularJS, Angular, React, HTML/CSS, and React Native.

* Day-to-day management of the four software engineering teams within R&D.
* Accelerated the release cycle of the oldest team with extensive legacy from 20 weeks to 2-3 releases per month.
* Delivered Ridder’s first mobile app for climate computing through collaboration in close collaboration with an external design & development agency.
* Guided the teams through a 25% downscaling; removing one underperforming product and merged two separate teams into a single high-performance Scrum team.
* Championed a shift in engineering culture, reducing reliance on leadership for technical & product decisions and inter-team decision making, and encouraged accountability in the teams for quality in delivery rather than relying on validation by stakeholders.
* Improved the software testing approach, resulting in better collaboration within the teams and substantially reduced cycle times.

Engineering Manager (interim)

Responsible for VCSW's engineering team, reporting to the COO. Grew the team from 2 to 11 engineers and reorganised into separate product teams, maintaining & developing the VCSW-Digitaal SaaS, and ideating and building the new VCSW Datahub product. 

Some highlights include:
* accelerated release cadence from one release per two weeks to releasing on-demand several times per day;
* created structural knowledge sharing within the team and promoted a culture of continuous learning; 
* secured promotions for several team members and removed underperformers; hired senior technical talent to reinforce a struggling team; 
* coached the junior Product Owner joining the organisation, and coached teams as interim Scrum Master until the role could be filled.

Head of Engineering

Responsible for growing the technical & collaboration skills of the engineering team. Worked to improve cross-team collaboration with design & PMO leaders. Acted as the primary point of contact for technical strategy on new customer engagements and set the Research & Development roadmap in consultation with senior management. Member of the business unit leadership team with other team leads. 

In this role, I continued leading customer engagements as a technical lead.

Lead Developer

Worked as a backend developer for several of our largest customers, such as Museum Boijmans van Beuningen, Sportbedrijf Rotterdam, NOC*NSF, The Greenery and many more.

Design, building and maintenance of all components of websites and web applications, both in backend and frontend. IN10 used a best-of-breed approach -- which I helped initiate -- primarily using PHP-based setups with Vue.js and React.
