At a full-house session with company owners, we discussed how founders can move from improvising revenue to building scalable sales systems.

Cold emails like this destroy trust, not build it.

I received this message last week, claiming:

“As mentioned previously, we have a family office interested in investing in your industry...”

Here’s the thing: 
❌ I never spoke to this person. 
❌ I don’t have a team member who shared my info. 
❌ I’m not an investable business. I’m a solopreneur.

This is the kind of lazy outreach that gives cold emails a bad rap.

It’s vague, impersonal, and misaligned. 

The result? A missed opportunity -- and a burned bridge before the first conversation even begins.

Cold outreach can work. But only when it’s done with:
✅ Precision: Know who you're talking to (and why). 
✅ Context: Reference real interactions, not imagined ones. 
✅ Relevance: Tailor the ask to match the person’s reality.

Want to build meaningful business connections? 

Start with respect. 
Do your homework. 
Show genuine intent.

You’re not building a product. You’re building a business.

Had a conversation with a SaaS founder recently. Brilliant team. 

Beautiful roadmap. Zero traction.

Why? 

Because they were obsessing over features... and ignoring the one voice that actually matters:

👉 The person who’s supposed to buy it.

This is the most common trap I see with tech founders: They build for what’s possible, not for what’s needed. 

They fall in love with the product, instead of the problem.

A business only exists if someone pays for what you’ve built.

Days like this remind me of three things:

But with focus, agility, and persistence, progress compounds.

I realized something amazing the other night. 

For the first time, many of the people who shaped my career journey can now read The Launch Code in their own language.

We celebrated the release of the Hungarian edition of my book, A növekedés kódja, now available in bookstores across the country.

When I looked around the room, I concluded this wasn’t really just a book launch event.

It was a celebration of...

At one point in the fifth round, I genuinely didn’t know what else I could do 

I spent the whole of last week excited to fight, 

That feeling was justified. 

An incredible fight against a top opponent. 

Another fight-of-the-night and an electric atmosphere. 

I got the win.
But it was far from easy. 

Towards the end, I remember saying to myself:

“How are you still coming forward? What else can I do?”

His face was battered, and his eye was swollen like a balloon. 

But he kept coming forward, trying to win.

When I say I threw everything at him, I meant it. 

Power shots, all speed, body work, and punches he didn’t see coming. 

But it didn’t matter; he refused to break. 

He kept walking forward, and I’ve never been more exhausted.

He dragged me into deep waters. 

Thankfully, I was able to swim.


I’m always asked how I simultaneously fight and run a business. 

It’s not easy (my social life takes a hit)

But there’s nothing else that forces you to answer questions about yourself like this. 

Noting that exposes you quite so honestly.

But most importantly, there’s nothing more rewarding than winning a fight like that.

You know the companies you want to work with,

The ones you’ve spoken to once or twice, but rarely close?

Yeah those, 
Why do you rarely close them? 

Usually, it comes down to one (wrong) assumption:

“They know what we do. When they need it, they’ll reach out.”

Do you remember everyone you meet at events? 

Of course not.

You barely remember the people you exchanged a few emails/LinkedIn messages with.

So what chance is there that a decision-maker at a target account would remember you months later?

Virtually zero. 

Not because they don’t like you,
Because they’ll be preoccupied with their own lives. 

This usually happens for two reasons.

➡️ You primarily rely on conferences/trade shows for your visibility

I’ve spoken at length about how this is a mistake, 
I won’t repeat myself.

➡️ Your mindset

You’re worried about coming across the slightest bit cringe or ‘unprofessional’. 

Or you think staying front of mind means you’re “pushy” or “salesy.” 

But in the nicest way possible,

You’re the only person paying that much attention to yourself.

In reality, keeping front of mind shortens your sales cycle and brings you new opportunities. 

And how those “almost deals” eventually turn into contracts.


My point about mindset may be unpopular, 
What do you think?

I've talked to 24 energy service firms in the past five months.

Every single one had the same underlying problem.

Visibility.

They know they struggled with it. 
They didn’t know how to source new deals. 
Their average sales cycle sat somewhere between 9-12 months. 

But either nobody in-house has the expertise/time to do it.

Or they exclusively relied on out-of-date practices. 

Conferences, trade shows etc. 

What happens next is always the same.

Employees try to help, or they use AI to “get something out.”

An occasional blog, maybe some LinkedIn activity. 

Then a deal they’ve been nurturing for a year finally closes.

And all that content work? Gone.

Sacrificed for the deliverables of the project.

This is normal. Your team is doing what they're supposed to do. 

But your future pipeline and brand suffer.

You finish the project , and you’re back to square one. 

One of my clients had this exact issue last year.

Small team, under 10 employees, and trapped in this cycle. 

Their brand only existed in bursts.

So we stepped in and built them a complete customer acquisition system. 

Multiple executive-led content streams. 
Warm outreach campaigns. 
White paper content. 
Case studies. 
Articles. 
Company page LinkedIn management.

My home base strategy.

Their visibility was handled by our always-on presence.

The result? They closed 3 closed contractswe generated.

That's not it, they were closed 2 months quicker than their typical sales cycle. 

What are you waiting for?

You offer “holistic” and “bespoke” solutions, but you’re not generating new contracts

There’s a reason for that,

Every energy firm offers “holistic” and “bespoke” solutions. 

You all use those exact words. 

Seriously, check your competitor's websites.

One of those two words is almost guaranteed to show up.

Your potential customers notice this as well. 

If you have similar messaging and marketing to all of your competitors, you won’t stand out.  

In their eyes, you’re exactly the same.

You won’t even source new contracts, never mind close them. 

How do you fix this?

➡️ Show, don’t tell

It will always be better if the customer comes to the conclusion themselves that you’re bespoke. 

Rather than being told. 

➡️ Have unique brand colours and marketing

Most firms use friendly colours and neutral tones. Why?

Because it’s “inoffensive” and “friendly” 

But that’s exactly why it doesn’t work.

You don’t take into account pattern interrupt. 

My branding? Black and white, with a little pink. 

Not because I’m trying to be the godfather, but because it catches the eye in a sea of blandness.

You don’t need to be as extreme as I am. 

But if you’re identical to your competitors, buying committees won’t tell you apart. 


What’s the most eye-catching branding you’ve seen lately?

What’s the fastest way someone can lose your trust in B2B communications? 

For me, it’s the refusal to answer a simple question. 

Or answering a basic question with a 60-second answer when a sentence would do.

I understand not wanting to share pricing publicly. 

I disagree with it, but I understand it. 

But if you refuse to even give a pricing range unless I jump on a call,

Then I instantly distrust you. 

It tells me there’s a high chance of the call resulting in high-pressure/immoral sales tactics.


It’s the main reason I’m so open about all of my processes, pricing etc. 

The more open and honest you are, the more likely I am to buy. 

So I want to attract buyers who feel similar. 

Another instant trust killer for me:

Sending a contract or payment link on the call and not letting the conversation end without a signature.

Not for me. At all.

If you don’t understand buying behaviour, you’ll stay reliant on referrals 

Here are the biggest changes I’ve noticed in the last year:

➡️ Buyers compare you directly with competitors

If your marketing/outreach helps them realise you can solve a problem.

They will have a meeting with you. 

But they’ll also meet 2–5 of your competitors.

🥊 Solution: Unique branding/messaging

If your website, content and LinkedIn look identical to those competitors, you’re unlikely to win the contract.

Pattern interrupt matters more than people think. 

➡️ Attention spans are short

AI has made social posts, emails, and DMs insanely easy to produce at volume.

Even genuinely good content gets ignored.
If we let ourselves be forgotten, 
We will be.

🥊 Solution: Maximise every piece of marketing material

Invest time/resources into high-quality marketing material and repurpose it across multiple platforms. 

For example, a strong article can become:

An email, a blog, a white paper, a LinkedIn article and a LinkedIn company post. 

Then repost the company post from executive accounts with further (human) context. 

(Yes, another mention of my homebase strategy 😉) 

You’re maximising your odds of your message being seen by relevant decision makers.

How well do you really know your customers?

Do you know their specific personality profile? 

If not, don’t be surprised when:

➡️ Marketing efforts fall short

➡️ Buying cycles drag on for 12 months

➡️ New customers only come via referrals or conferences

Most people stop at role, company size or market segment.

In 2026, when trust is at an all-time low, that’s not enough.

You need to understand things like:

🥊 Specific personality profile

Are they pragmatic, risk takers or risk averse?

🥊 Psychological drivers 

Do they only act when things go wrong? 

Or are they more receptive to day-to-day pain points?

🥊 Core frustrations

For my customers, it’s deals going quiet and over-reliance on trade shows/referrals.

🥊 Buying behaviour

Do they compare you directly to competitors?

Are they impulsive or slow, considered decision-makers?

…and a few more things I keep front and centre.



Whenever I write a post, an article, create marketing material or do some business development,

I have clear answers to all of these questions (and more) in front of me.

If LinkedIn is eating 15–20 hours of your week, something’s broken.

Recently, I was asked about my weekly LinkedIn strategy...

For context: I spend under 10 hours a week on the platform, and it’s responsible for 80% of new contracts.

Here’s what that looks like in practice.

3 posts a week

🥊 Monday- Opinion piece

In the ‘trust recession’ we're living in, it’s important to show your personality and what you stand for. 

This is where I do that. 

🥊 Wednesday- Technical post designed to show expertise

A repost of a company page post with some human context,
a LinkedIn article, even a blog post.

Something along those lines.

🥊Thursday- Discussion piece

Designed to start conversations and get comments from people I haven’t spoken to yet.

The goal is to show I’m someone you can talk to.

➡️ 1-2 hours of networking DMs

I neglected networking last year. 

Now, if I see an interesting profile or post during the week, I add them to a simple networking CRM and send a personalised message.

➡️ 3-4 hours of cold but personalised business development 

A nice, personalised intro message based on public info.

I don’t sell in the first interaction, unless the other person takes it there.

I then follow up in the future. That’s it. 


LinkedIn is the main way I generate new customers, and I don’t let it become a part-time job.

I don’t try to replace 5 team members with AI

That’s likely why I have so much success using it

On a recent Founders Chat episode, a major news story dropped. The TLDR was:

“AI is overrated.”

Some people on the show agreed. Not me. 

In 2024, when AI was limited, I’d work 50-60 hours a week. 

Now I work 40 (at absolute most) 

While producing better work and being more productive. 

As I say in the clip, AI has stopped me from having truly bad days. 

You know the ones where you sit in front of the laptop, not knowing what to do?

The days you waste hours procrastinating? 

AI has removed them for me.

It's significantly raised the floor of my bad days.

From small calendar management and scheduling tasks,
To workflows that drive my business forward, like:

🥊 Client onboarding 
🥊 Sales meeting prep
🥊 Niche market research

(and a few other great workflows!)

I’m always asked how I fight regularly and run a business, 

Well, the 15-20 hours a week I spend training, 

That's where those hours came from.

What I've found, talking about this topic, is the people disappointed with AI are the people trying to replace entire teams with it.
