My daily activity is to design automation systems for marine winch industry for all variety of winches: electric driven by one motor or two motors using torque control or hydraulic motorized winches with two motors .
For all of this i am developing software in TIA Portal or Step 7 using SCL programming language, like length and speed measuring systems using encoders or proximity switches, load cell calibration functions, process and control, operator safety functions and operator HMI software which is user friendly(easy to use, interactive, prevents operator mistakes). Also I've developed automatic control functions like automatic rendering using band brakes or water cool dynamic brake, also rope constant tension using only the electric motors, combination between motor and band brake to avoid slack rope. I'm also used to develop electrical drawings in EPLAN using libraries from electrical and automation manufactures, bill of materials. VFD setup for one motor or two motors using torque sharing are also scope of my work. Also on site activities are part job like: equipment erection, instrumentation setup, commissioning, site acceptance tests.
Android Studio, C# are also environments used by me to develop mobile solution for reading process parameters from the winch .

The main activity is automation and electrical maintenance (debugging plc's software, modifying the software from the plc's according the requests of the local department, debugging drives, configuring drives) for industrial installations like: mixing gas station, slab furnaces, stands, Automatic Gauge Control, levelers, barcode printers, edges shear, etc).
Subcontractors tracking, commissioning of the automation installations, checking field equipment (limiters, sensors, encoders, etc.), coordinating local maintenance team.
Analysis and development of software applications for PLC's in Simatic Step 7, RSLogix5000, PL7 PRO (ladder logic, FBD, STL, SCL or CFC programming languages).
Development of graphical interfaces in WINCC or FactoryTalk for the command of the industrial installations.

Projects that I was involved in the year 2012:

-Renewing electrial drawings in Eplan Electric and software development (Siemens Step7 and Siemens WinCC explorer) for the Coal Mill of Blast Furnace no.5 . 
-Commissioning activity with Prisma Impianti S.p.A for Mixing Gas Station where I made an Ethernet communication between the old Mixing Gas Station and the new one.
-Commissioning activity for frequency drives from Eaton, Telemecanique, Allen Bradley and Siemens, used for cranes or roller tables.
-Commissioning activity for Shear Edges no. 2 with SMS SIEMAG in Heavy Plate Mill no.2 where I supervised the installation of electrical equipment (limiters, sensors, encoders, verification of control loops, etc.) and software implementation.The hardware used was: Siemens S7-400 PLC. DC drives: Siemens Simoreg. AC drive: Siemens Sinamics. The software used for development was: Siemens - Step7 v5.5 and WinCC v7 SP1.
-Commissioning activity for Propulsion Furnace no.1 from Heavy Plate Mill no.1 where I modified the software from the PLC and HMI according the requests of the local department, I verified the intrumentation from the furnace and I introduced  the AC drive in pressure loop.

My achievements for the year 2013:

-Developing a small team (4 engineers including my self) that takes care of all the automation systems from Heavy Plate Mill no.2.
-Restarting the punchmarking machine used for marking the probes cut from the plates where i verified the actuators, the main loops, the sequences of the machine (trolley movement, lift, punch).
-Participating in the campaign to restart Heavy Plate Mill no.1 where I dealt with restarting the Propulsion Furnace for which I checked the instrumentation, all the actuators, and I have made some adjustments for the proper working. Also I dealt with the paint and punch marking machine where I have verified the instrumentation and all the actuators.
-Commissioning activity for plate pawl of transversal shear where I dealt with the PLC software and HMI, developed with Step7 and Wincc Flexible, also I have calibrated the encoder, I have checked the actuators and the sequences of the machine.
-Restarting the Ultrasound Testing machine where I have checked the actuators, the main loops, I made some PLC software changes, because of the poor maintenance of the machine, the final map of the plate was misaligned.
-Commissioning activity for Roll Grinding machine with Herkules GmbH where I supervised the installation of electrical equipment (limiters, sensors, encoders, checked the control loops, etc.) and software implementation.The hardware used was: Bechkoff PLC. The AC and DC drives where from Baumuller. And the software used for development was: TwinCat.
-Commissioning activity of PowerFlex dc drives from Allen Bradley used for slab extractors from the furnaces where I verified the signals, emergency stops, local and remote commands, and I have configured the drive with DriveTools.

Hot Plate Leveler project: This is the first machine installed from zero in HPM no 2, since production started.The involvement in this project consisted in:
a. Verify erection of MV cables and LV, DC Bus bar (distance between cable trays, megohmeter
tests)
b. Verify erection of MV and LV motors (megohmeter tests)
c. Verify instrumentation hook up and setup
d.Verify automation equipment (PLC, RIO, soft starter, AC drives, DC-link)
e.Verify I/O list
f. Establish Profibus communication with the new PLC (Control Logix 5000 with Siemens S7-400) and take the setpoint from the new PLC and command the mechanism
g. HMI modifications (C script)
h. Software verification (auxiliary units, calibration, line sequence)
i. IBA installation
j. Participate to Cold Test, Hot Test, production tuning, etc.

Proud to participate near Danieli's engineers and last but not the least I want to say thanks to my colleagues who worked hard plenty of hours with involvement and attitude to provide high class technical solutions.

I've developed Plate Tracking for Plate Mill in VisualBasic where the process parameters are sent from the trimming shears , printers, to a database where there is link to SAP-PM .
