I had a beer with one of Australia's best founders on Friday night, running a 9-figure company that will become a unicorn in the nearish future.

He was late, and sent me a text: "I have to wait for my agents to finish."

Ten minutes later, he showed up to the pub with an open laptop. "I figured I would just bring my agents with me". Every couple of minutes he would glance over at the screen to see what they were up to.

I wasn't mad. I understood. After all, I had kicked off two changes on Claude Code Web on my phone while I had been waiting.

Everybody is entitled to their own opinions, but not to their own facts. And here is a fact:

Every one of the best CEOs, CTOs, and business leaders I know is spending more time building than they have in years. They are AI-pilled, they are obsessed, and they are LOVING IT.

I've been in this game for 20 years now, and this does feel different. The way startups work is changing, and the change is coming from the top, driven by founders who have rediscovered the joy of building.

LinkedIn took away my 🤖 emoji, so I've updated my profile picture to include my little robot friend.

There's a club that more than 10% of Australians are members of...

...yet nobody talks about it.

She has a single interview question that she says now matters more than anything else on a candidate's resume.

Series-A stage B2B2C marketplace platform + gig-economy workforce model + mobile/web app experience that combined enable quickly connecting healthcare providers and patients needing language assistance with live virtual human interpreters 24/7/365, thus increasing engagement, reducing risk via safer care, and yielding improved outcomes for the nation's most vulnerable populations. 

Served as a strategic hands-on HoP/PPM for a fledgling venture infused with $13M growth capital. Built the product & design teams, implemented new agile methods and tools, and together these 'maker teams' delivered 30+ updates in 16 months, increasing platform maturity for B2B markets. Established new strategic planning and prioritization practices, narrowed company focus, fostered x-team alignment, improved operating effectiveness at scale, and refined commercial GTM to incorporate PLG (product-led-growth) for the SMB segment. Results included delivery of a more richly capable platform suitable for target markets/ICPs at scale, triple-digit YoY top-line growth, reduced client churn, and increased ARPA.

Implemented an improved agile ops model for both data product teams and platform development as the data-science technology matured, built core product management operating foundations, and supported an initial (seed) capital raise to help the company transition from start-up to scale-up.

Served as CPO during a challenging turnaround phase amidst the depths of the Covid-19 pandemic. Partnering across the ELT, results included a redefined platform vision and strategy, a revamped portfolio, and a new commercial GTM model centered on enterprise and mid-market providers that leveraged usage-based pricing (UBP) and improved ROI. In partnership with the CTO, rebuilt the product group to a multi-faceted team of 14 across 4 strategic pillars, transformed agile SDLC to a new OKR model that shifted investments to strategic innovations, and deployed an authoritative, data-driven roadmapping approach.
