What’s harder to see is what’s happening underneath. Much of this operates automatically. With everything competing for attention, it’s easy not to notice how moments of doubt or pause are quietly interpreted as something being wrong — not because you chose that interpretation, but because it happens below awareness.

𝗔𝗻𝗱 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗻𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝘁 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀𝗻’𝘁 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗶𝘁 𝗶𝘀𝗻’𝘁 𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗱𝗲𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀.

It’s often only when someone slows down long enough to actually observe what’s happening — without judgment — that the pattern becomes visible. Until then, confidence and motivation tend to erode without a clear reason why.

I didn’t always see this myself. For a long time, I tried to push past doubt or out-think it. It wasn’t until I paused long enough to watch what was happening, rather than react to it, that I saw how quickly feedback was turning into self-judgment — and how much that alone was getting in the way.

𝗠𝘆 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗶𝘀𝗻’𝘁 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗳𝗶𝘅𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘆𝗼𝘂. I don’t subscribe to the idea that there’s something wrong with you.

Authentic Leadership Coach

I almost quit this week.


Not dramatically.
Not publicly.
Just quietly in my own head.

I’ve been writing a book.
Pivoting my business.
Walked away from a business partnership. 

Taking the financial hit that came with it.

Doing all of it while navigating perimenopause, single motherhood, and the kind of exhaustion that doesn’t show up on Instagram.

Some days I miss when life was easier.
When I was teaching.
When I was married.
When everything looked stable on paper.

Back then I was living in a fog… but it was a comfortable fog.

Predictable. Safe. Smaller.
Now?

Everything feels exposed.

There are moments I sit at my desk and think, “Why did I blow up a perfectly fine life?”

And then I hear the words my daughter said years ago echoing back to me…

“Mom, have you forgotten who you are? You’re Tina Fricken Brigley. When you’re stopped, so is the world.”

It still makes me smile.

She wasn’t talking about money.
Or metrics.
Or book sales.
She was talking about courage.

She was reminding me that quitting doesn’t just shrink my world.
It shrinks the example I’m setting.
Choosing me wasn’t easy.

It cost comfort.
It cost certainty.
It cost being understood.

But what I want more than comfort…
is for my daughters to know they are allowed to live life on their terms.

To leave when it’s wrong.
To pivot when it’s misaligned.
To build even when it’s messy.

If I go back to the fog, what am I teaching them?

Entrepreneurship isn’t just about building a business.
It’s about building a life your kids can see and think….

Oh. That’s possible.

Some days I have to fight the negative thoughts about quitting. 

But then I look at those two girls.
And I remember:
This isn’t just about me anymore.

If you feel like quitting somedays know you aren’t failing, you’re expanding. It doesn’t feel comfortable. 

Have grace. 

Step back. 

Pour into you and keep moving forward.

Your Story Is More Important Than You Think

The 3 types of stories people tell
 
(and only one creates demand).

Not all stories do the same job. 
You might be missing this and feel stuck because of it. 

Let's get you recreating storytelling content. 
 
1. Processing Stories: 
These help you understand yourself.
They are emotional, raw, clarifying internally
They’re necessary. They’re just not positioning.

2. Relatability Stories:
 These help your audience feel seen.
It signals “You’re not alone”, triggers shared experiences, emotional resonance
They build connection but rarely direction.

3. Positioning Stories:
 
These help someone decide.
They clarify:
How you see the problem.
Why your perspective matters.
What working with you actually feels like. 

They don’t just share experience.
They organize it into a point of view.
Only this third type creates demand.

Maybe you're rotating between the first two.
They’re honest.
They’re consistent.
They’re visible.

And your audience still doesn’t know why they should choose you.

Storytelling isn’t about sharing more.
It’s about telling the story that does the right job.
That’s when storytelling stops being expressive and starts being strategic.

I’m not ACTUALLY in trouble. 

Just bored!!! And decided to prank my kids.

No questions asked!!! 

Glad to know they have my back no matter what. 

Have you ever done something silly instead of working? 

I’m usually on task but today I set the intention to have fun. 

I guess this is what my life has come to! 🙅‍♀️😱🛟 🐈‍⬛
