Every week, I talk to smart consultants who would rather eat glass than post on LinkedIn.

Reasons vary from "cringe" to "icky" to "I HATE IT HERE." 

I hear you, however...

Two things can be true at once:

Yes, a lot of LinkedIn content is performative garbage.

And also, the people who post genuinely useful sh*t from actual experience stand out precisely because everyone else is either performing or hiding.

You don't need to manufacture a story arc. You don't need to become a "creator." You don't need to "be authentic." 

You just need to say the things you already say on client calls, on Zoom, in Slack, out loud, in public, on a regular basis.

That's it. That's the whole game.

The irony is that the people most allergic to being a character are usually the ones whose real voice cuts through the noise the fastest.

If you have too much self-respect to be "a person who posts on LinkedIn," it honestly puts you in the best position to win on LinkedIn.

The words you use to describe the problem you solve determine who shows up to buy.

"You have no leads"
"Your pipeline is empty"
"Nobody knows who you are"

These are failure indicators that attract people in crisis mode. 

They're generally protective of their money because they either 1) don't have much or 2) are terrified to spend it.

Whereas success indicators look like this:

"Leads are coming in, but they can't tell you apart from the competition" 
"You're at $30K months but hit a capacity ceiling"

Success framing attracts people in build mode. They have the budget, are ready to spend it, and want a partner to help them grow.

Nick Bennett 🏴‍☠️ learned this the hard way when he first went solo. He got incredible engagement on his failure framing posts. 

"You must have a hidden camera in my office!"
"How are you in my head?!"

Great signal.

Except... nobody was willing to pay his rates. 

So he shifted his framing from failure to success indicators, and his revenue took off.

We've been running this play with Duo clients ever since we merged our businesses last year.

If you've ever wondered why you get tons of "omg this is SO me" engagement, but nobody actually hires you, this is prob why.

PS. Success indicators don't mean you're a better person or have a better business than failure indicators. We define the terms more and give examples in the book.

Like I said yesterday, sure LinkedIn is "cringe" but the second you get over it and LISTEN TO UR COACHES you'll make money :)

The hardest part of a platform like LinkedIn is shallow thinkers “win” the day. People with little experience share tips and tactics that feel easy to understand and even easier to implement. People hit like because it makes their dopamine go whoosh. 

“I can do this!” 

Yeah, you can. And it’ll make you feel good in a world of make believe thumbs but prove useless in a world of real money. (Money is also a construct but I digress.)

This game of shallow thinkers makes deep thinkers feel… shit, to be honest.

Your deep experience and proven ideas get shoved to the sideline. You lose the popularity contest. Nobody loves you. You feel resentful, frustrated, unseen and unheard.

You think, why the f*ck would I waste my time in a garbage in garbage out place like this?

And you don’t have to. You really don’t. There are other ways and places to market.

But I’ve found pockets of excellence here, and that makes it worthwhile to me. You can find them too if you hit unfollow and not interested on the shallow game. If you hit connect and dm with the deeper minds. If you market the problem, process, and proof and radically accept lower engagement in exchange for elevated conversations.

There is a way. I am proof. Our clients are proof. Our friends are proof.

But the choice must be yours to make. Either commit to it with conviction or don’t bother.

Complaining endlessly, however, is a waste of your time and mine. That’s what makes people hit unfollow and not interested.

My take on the state of things.

If you resist the algorithm's pull toward negativity, hype, and oversimplification, even when it costs you reach, you're my people.

(And yes, my people still have fun and make money here.)

Of course, you shouldn't ONLY be here. Being overrotated on social is never a good idea.

But all of our clients run our MP3 strategy here (Market the problem, process, and proof) and claw their way out of the referral-only trap cuz of it.

So.

HEYOOOO to my people.

Well whaddya know. Having a strong POV -> saying that POV out loud in comments -> then sliding into DMs WORKS.

We closed 3 perfect-fit clients in the past 2 weeks. Two of them came from me saying stuff on other people's posts, keeping the convo going in DMs, then hopping on a call.

No pressure. No automated pitch nonsense. Just... being a helpful human.

The key part of this = having a STRONG pov.

We spend a lot of intentional time honing our thoughts. We pay attention to what other people think, and we talk through our feelings about their feelings. We're continuously pushing the boundaries of our content IP.

We do that through our podcast, mini books, and endless jam sessions. 

And it pays off.

If I'd said, "Oof yeah, it's hard reach out if you ever wanna talk cuz I've been through this too," he wouldn't have reached out. 

What reason would I have given him?

But after this message, he DM'd me and asked if I was keen to jam more on my experience and POV.

That non sales call turned into a sales call which turned into a perfect fit client.

It's not just about posting, people!

Harness your POV.

Then be intentional about starting interesting conversations around it.

(Having resources like mini books also reallyyy help. Shout out to Katrina Kirsch for forcing us to think really hard, out loud, every week, then putting pen to paper for us to bring our ideas to life.)

PS. If you're a B2B solo or micro-agency doing $35K+ months and you struggle to explain what you do & how you do it, that's an offer clarity problem. 

It's reallyyy hard to start conversations when you have an offer you can't clearly explain.

Nick and I have worked with 23 solos and micro agencies since we combined our businesses 9 months ago. 

The ones making $35K-$50K a month are, weirdly, the most stuck. 

And it's almost always the same two problems running underneath everything:

1. Operational chaos

At this revenue, you've outgrown your own infrastructure. Your success is making things harder, not easier.

2. The recognition gap

Whether you're LinkedIn famous or nobody knows your name, the market still doesn't know what problem you solve. 

You're either getting clients through referrals and have no inbound, or you have tons of inbound, but 9/10 it's a poor fit.

Most solos try to fix these problems one at a time. 

Get the positioning and marketing dialed, then figure out operations. 

Or build systems first, then worry about pipeline. 

But they feed each other. You can't systematize delivery if you're attracting the wrong clients. And you can't attract the right clients if you can't articulate what you do.

So we work on both simultaneously.

70% of Brian’s leads now come from LinkedIn. A year ago, that number was zero.

And this morning, Nick and I got to train the 3 contractors Brian has hired since his business exploded to build their own LinkedIn presence.

What a full circle moment! 

The backstory:

A year ago, Brian was stuck. He was doing $25K months off referrals alone with zero inbound. He was scared referrals could dry up at any moment, and he wasn’t getting enough leads to aggressively scale.

So over the past year, we helped him get known for a specific problem he solves. 

Rebuilt his content around marketing the problem, process, and proof. 

Started real conversations with the right people. 

And within months, ~70% of his prospects were coming from LinkedIn. 

This influx of leads helped him scale from $25K to $150K a month. 

To execute on delivery, we coached him through hiring 3 senior contractors, standardizing his engagement model, and freeing up his time so he can focus on strategy, biz dev, and marketing.

The traditional agency model is a trap for most scaling solos. 

High overhead. 
Constant hiring. 
Managing people all day.

Plus, the idea of building an agency makes most B2B consultants we know nauseous. 

They didn't build expertise for 13 years to spend their days chasing invoices and managing people who don't care as much as they do. 

Ok, so then how DO you scale to $1M-3M without going the traditional agency route?

At $30-$50k months, you're fast approaching capacity. You've likely hit a revenue ceiling. You're probably burning out.

You can't scale without operationalizing, but operationalizing means delegating, which veers into agency territory.

So here's our POV:

You're not building an "agency." You're not removing yourself from running client accounts or doing the work.

Instead, you're building a microagency with a pod structure.

A tiny, senior delivery team organized around you, not below you. 

You stay close to the work. 
You stay close to the clients. 
You don't become a manager in the traditional sense. 

You become the person who designs how the work gets done while a small squad of senior people helps you do more of it.

It's not an agency. It's not a solo practice. It's something in between. Which is why we've been calling it a microagency.

One founder running the show, a small pod delivering the work, and a business that can hit $2-3M without sacrificing quality and 60%+ of your margin.

One of our clients recently scaled past $150k months with three senior contractors and he's on the path to $3M. He's at 70% margin.

Another is restructuring his team into a pod right now, and already seeing his capacity open up and his energy come back.

So yeah, this is what we're seeing working for B2B solos who refuse to go the agency route but know they can't keep white-knuckling it alone.
