I used to LOVE LinkedIn. It felt like magic. 

But lately? It just feels like a performance I’m tired of giving.

When I first started showing up here, I felt like ME.

I’m not quitting LinkedIn.

But I am breaking up with the version of myself I’ve felt pressure to be here.

I'm literally redesigning my business so that I don't NEED to be here and I can get back to showing up because I want to. 

• No more posting because I “should.”
• No more strategies that make me feel small.
• No more performing a brand instead of being a person.

I’m building my business elsewhere.
In a way that feels aligned.
Rooted. Real.

The kind of business I teach my clients to build.

Because I don’t want to build a brand that looks good but feels bad.

At 40, after 4 years as an entrepreneur, I took a day job.

Not because I needed a paycheck.

But because I felt out of control.

• I’d been running my business for 4+ years at that point.
• I’d had some massive wins.
• Big-name clients. Big revenue months.

But here’s the part I don’t talk about often:

98% of that business came through referrals.

• Which meant I was always waiting.
• Hoping for a stroke of unpredictable luck.
• Holding my breath for the next deal to close.

And that kind of “success”?

• It doesn’t feel safe.
• It doesn’t feel stable.
• It doesn’t feel like FREEDOM—it feels like GAMBLING. 

So when someone made me a job offer, I took it.
Because it felt like relief.
Like certainty.

Spoiler: It sucked. ROYALLY sucked. 

It wasn’t fun and it wasn’t aligned.

And it didn’t take long to remember why I started my own damn business in the first place.

But that season taught me something I will never forget:

👉 You cannot build your dream life on things you don’t control.

• Not referrals
• Not random leads
• Not vague “visibility” strategies

If you want peace, momentum, and freedom—you need SYSTEMS. 

No, they're not sexy, but damn are they beautiful. 

You need to be in the driver’s seat of your business.

I came back from that job with a mission:

To stop building a business that ran on hope.
And instead, start building one that runs on DESIGN.  

And that shift?

It changed EVERYTHING (especially my time, income, and sense of peace)

So here’s the real question:

Where in your business are you relying on hope instead of systems?

Because hope feels nice.
But it doesn’t pay your bills.

9 years ago Sunday, my divorce was finalized.

It was one of the most difficult, disorienting, and defining moments of my life.

If I could sit down with the version of me who was still in that unhappy marriage — scared, stuck, and unsure what life after would look like — here’s what I would tell her:


1. This will break you. But in the best way.

You’re the coal right now, under intense pressure, suffocating in the dark.

But this pressure? This pain?

It’s going to forge something UNSHAKEABLE.

→ A woman who knows herself.
→ A woman who trusts her instincts.
→ A woman who no longer needs approval to take up space.

This will be the fire that reveals the diamond.


2. You’ll only have two regrets.

→ One: that you didn’t do it sooner.
→ Two: that you didn’t fight for what you deserved.

You were scared — of him, of money, of lawyers, of what people would say.

And so you gave in. Signed without protection. Walked away from what you were owed.

It took FIVE YEARS to dig yourself out of that financial wreckage.

But you did.

And you’ll never let fear drive your decisions again.


3. Divorce is your door to self-discovery.

You’re about to start one of the most wildly freeing, beautiful, and chaotic experiments of your life.

→ You’ll say yes to every curiosity. From small and silly to big and life changing. 

→ Try on identities like new dresses (which people will mock you for, but you won't care)

→ Take trips on a whim. Learn new skills. Eat exotic food. Fall in love with places, people, and — eventually — a partner who TRULY sees you.

You’ll become the kind of woman who builds her life based on desire, not duty.

It’ll be messy. And it’ll be MAGICAL.

4. Prioritize friendship like your life depends on it.

Because in some ways, it does.

You stayed in that marriage as long as you did because you were isolated.

No one really knew what was going on behind the scenes. You didn’t know how to ask for help.

You’ll never do that again.

From here on out, you build community with intention.

You cultivate friendships that feel like family.

And it makes every part of your life richer.


5. Don’t just rebuild. REINVENT.

This isn’t just about starting over. It’s about starting as SOMEONE NEW. 

Someone who chooses herself.

Who stops performing “perfect partner” and starts exploring what a fully expressed life looks like.

Every single part of your world is about to change.

Not because you’re broken.

But because you’re finally free.


If you’re in it right now — the before, the ending, the scary middle…

Let me say this:

There is life after this.

Not just life — but MORE life.

More truth. More beauty. More YOU.

It's okay to be afraid. As long as you say yes, scared.

I used to think imposter syndrome was my enemy.

Now? She’s one of my best damn friends.

When I was younger, I hated the feeling.

The doubt.

The second-guessing.

The inner monologue screaming:

• “You don’t belong here.”
• “Who do you think you are?”
• “They’re gonna figure you out.”

It felt like proof that I wasn’t ready.

• That I wasn’t good enough.
• That I should shrink.
• Play it safe.
  
Wait until I was more prepared, more polished, more…SOMEthing.

And for a while, I believed it. I thought I needed to OVERCOME imposter syndrome before I could take the leap.

But then I spotted the pattern.

Imposter syndrome didn’t show up when I was stagnant. She showed up when I was LEVELING UP.

→ When I boarded a plane to Beirut to lead my first global strategy workshop with a room full of startup founders.

→ When I sent my very first proposal after starting my business. (Spoiler alert: I didn’t land it. Still showed up again the next day.)

→ When I stood on stage to give my first paid keynote and I peed 37x in the hour before I went on stage because I was terrified I would wet myself in front of 100s of people.

→ When I rebranded and rebuilt my entire offer suite to reflect the REAL ME, not the performance version I’d outgrown.

Every single time? That voice in my head got LOUD. (and not gonna lie, she can be a stone-cold bitch)

But not because I was unqualified…

Because I was BECOMING.

That’s what imposter syndrome really is:

→ A neon flashing sign that you’re growing.
→ A signal you’re stretching into something bigger.
→ Proof that you’re in the arena, not on the sidelines.

These days? When imposter syndrome shows up, I don’t back down.

I run toward her.

Because I know what’s on the other side:

→ A breakthrough.
→ A new level of leadership.
→ A version of me that’s more aligned, more confident, more free.

So, if imposter syndrome is whispering in your ear right now?

Pause, but do NOT panic. And don’t you DARE shrink.

→ Because you’re not falling behind.
→ You’re not in over your head.
→ You’re not unqualified.

You are RIGHT ON TRACK.

You’re just becoming someone your past self couldn’t even imagine.

As a 43yo entrepreneur, there is one kind of dumb thing I learned that destroyed any insecurity I have. 

And it wasn’t a strategy.
Or a mentor.
Or a mindset hack.

It was this:

I committed to daily action. Tiny. Imperfect. Unsexy ACTION. 

When I look back, all the imposter syndrome, insecurity, and “who do I think I am?” spirals…

They weren’t random.

They were a byproduct of inertia.

I was dreaming big — but I wasn’t getting shit done. Especially not consistently. 

Why?

Because the thing I wanted to build was new. And new = HARD. 

• There’s no momentum yet.
• No evidence I can do it. 
• No proof it might work.

Because that's just how it works when it's new. 

• So of course it felt impossible.
• Of course I freaking doubted myself.
• Of course it felt like pushing a boulder uphill.

But I made a decision.

To take at least one meaningful action a day. Every day.

Not because I was seeing big results yet…

But because I was DONE breaking promises to myself.

And something wild happened:

→ I started trusting myself.
→ My confidence stopped being theoretical and started being earned.
→ I no longer felt like a fraud—I felt like a f*cking force.

Here’s what I’ve learned:

Most of our insecurity comes from self-betrayal.

We say we’re gonna do something. Then we don’t. And over time, we teach ourselves we can’t be trusted. Daily action rewrites that narrative.

Big goals feel terrifying because we look at EVERYTHING we need to do at once.

But small steps compound. Fast. When you focus on 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘵𝘰𝘥𝘢𝘺, you create a flywheel. And eventually? That boulder starts rolling downhill.

Being consistent is hard. Which is EXACTLY why it builds self-respect.

When you show up—especially when it’s inconvenient, imperfect, or uncomfortable—you prove to yourself that you’re the kind of person who follows through.

And the more you follow through?

The more un-f*cking-stoppable you become.

• If you’re feeling like a fraud lately…
• If your confidence is tanking…
• If your inner critic has been extra loud…

You don’t need a mindset makeover.

You just need momentum.

Start moving. Tiny steps. Every day.

Let the proof stack up.

And watch how fast your identity changes.

Because you don’t build confidence by thinking differently.

You build it by doing differently.

The other day, I stumbled onto the Instagram of a LinkedIn creator I admire. 

Her content? Impeccable.
Her Instagram? Literal art.
She looks like a goddess in every frame.

And I had this little voice whisper in my head:

“God, I wish I could do that.”

That kind of beautiful, polished, curated perfection.

And for a second… I considered it.

→ Maybe I should try to show up more like her?
→ Hire a designer. Book a photoshoot. Create a vibe.

But then I remembered: That works for her because it IS HER. 

She’s a former model.
She’s run a design agency for 20+ years.
Storytelling (esp visual) is her freaking superpower.

That’s what’s authentic FOR HER. 

But me?

→ I’m a chaos goblin.
→ I’m raw and real and usually a hot f*cking mess.
→ I write before I brush my hair. (just kidding, I don't brush my hair)

My posts are full of intensity, honesty, and half-finished cups of coffee.

I wasn’t built to be polished. (much to my mother's dismay) 

I was built to be powerful in a different, rougher around the edges, way. 

And this is the trap so many of us fall into:

We confuse admiration with aspiration.

We see someone thriving in THEIR lane…
And we forget we have one too.

We think success comes from mimicking what’s working.

When in reality?

It comes from amplifying what’s uniquely OURS. 

→ Your edge is not their aesthetic.
→ Your power is not their polish.
→ Your brand is not their blueprint.


So if you’re in a season of scrolling and comparing—
Let this be your reminder:

✨ You don’t need to look like them.
🔥 You need to own what makes you, YOU. 

Because when you do?

→ That’s when it finally clicks.

I turned down $100K and everyone told me I was crazy.

But three weeks later, a $120K opportunity showed up that was perfectly aligned.

Here's what I learned: Most entrepreneurs burn out before they get rich because they think the only path to wealth is 80-hour weeks and sacrificing everything.

When I was trading hours for dollars, I had a ceiling.

I was exhausted, maxed out, in feast or famine mode.

The shift? I took everything I was doing manually and turned it into a repeatable system.

Now my work compounds. I create something once and it generates value over and over again.

That's not hustling harder. That's building smarter. And that's how you get wealthy without burning out.

2️⃣ 𝗦𝗮𝘆 𝗻𝗼 𝘁𝗼 𝗴𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝘀𝘁𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘀𝗼𝘂𝗹

That $100K opportunity? It required me to work with clients I didn't like, doing work that drained me, in a way that felt totally misaligned.

I said no anyway.

When you protect your energy, better opportunities find you.

Saying no to a messy opportunity creates space for the beautiful ones.

If the money comes with misery, it's not worth it. Period.

3️⃣ 𝗢𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗶𝘇𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆, 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘂𝗲

I used to look at my business purely through a financial lens.

Now I track my energy and my freaking joy.

Which clients energize me? What makes time disappear? What drains me? What do I dread?

Then I restructured everything around that.

I fired the clients who exhausted me even though they paid well. 

I doubled down on the work that felt like play.

My revenue went up.

When you're energized, you do better work. You attract better clients. You have the stamina to keep going.

Wealth without energy is just a well-paid prison sentence.

The real secret? Sustainable wealth comes from sustainable energy.

Build systems. Protect your alignment. Optimize for what energizes you.

It took 40+ years to learn that my quick wins nearly always turned into my slow failures. 

But they didn't have to. 

I'm not gonna lie. I've had a lot of luck in life. 

First and foremost, I come from a lot of privilege. 

→ White. 
→ Well-educated. 
→ Wealthy, still married parents. 

Secondly, I'm naturally good at a bunch of things. 

→ The gift of gab. 
→ Creating content, esp. written & video.
→ Learning almost anything (except maybe science). 

And so, there have been a LOT of things in life that, at first, come fairly easily to me. 

• Working in sales
• Transitioning to marketing
• Starting my first online business 
• Becoming a creator on social media

I'm grateful that I had those quick wins. But I'll tell you, having quick luck F*CKED me in the long run. 

Because I thought I could get away with not doing the work. 

• Developing grit through consistency
• Building my operational systems 
• Continuing to build my skills
• Dialing in my methodology 
• Refining my strategy 

And so, over and over again, I got stuck. 

Suddenly, my quick luck would slow down. I'd get frustrated, become insecure, and lose momentum. 

And I'd become envious of the people who built their business or their brands through repitition and commitment, instead of easy wins and strokes of luck. 

Because damn near every time, they'd surpass those of us who fell into success quickly. 

Over the last 2 years, I've made craftsmanship my motto. 

Not gonna lie, I still have a long way to go, but it's why I'm so damn faithful in where I'm going. 

Because, for the first time in my 43 years, my dreams no longer rely on luck, talent, or easy wins. 

They're wholly dependent on my dedication. 

And I've got plenty of that.

I've been an entrepreneur for 8 Years. Earned millions in Revenue. Learned more lessons than I can count.

If I could go back and whisper a few things into my younger self’s ear before she started this business, here’s what I’d say:

You’re gonna reinvent yourself a thousand and one times.
And that’s a good thing.

You’ll make millions in revenue…
But not nearly enough in profit. (Oops. 😂)

You’ll go from working with massive brands like Gwen Stefani's GXVE (also got to hang out with her backstage in Vegas) to, my favorites, brilliant one-person consultants (shhh...don't tell Gwen).

And both will teach you things you never saw coming.

But here’s what REALLY matters.

These are the lessons that changed everything:

🧭 1. Trust your instincts.

If a deal feels off, it is.

If someone lies to others, they’ll lie to you.

If the energy feels wrong, don’t wait around for it to get better—it won’t.

⚖️ 2. “Smart” doesn’t mean “right for you.”

There are strategies that work for THEM… and then there’s what works for YOU.

Know the life you’re designing, then build your business around THAT (and only that).

👥 3. Your friends probably won’t get it.

So find the weirdos who do.

A community of entrepreneurs will save your sanity more times than you can count.

📈 4. Learn to LOVE leverage. 

Time is your most precious currency.

Stop selling hours.

Start building assets, systems, and IP that print money while you’re sleeping—or sipping wine in Spain with your husband.

🔄 5. Don’t be afraid to pivot.

If something doesn’t feel quite right, or you want more…GO. GET. IT.

You learn 10x more (and 10x faster) by taking imperfect action than you ever will from overthinking.

📊 6. But don’t just do—reflect.

The magic isn’t just in the action.

It’s in the ANALYSIS.

What worked? What didn’t? What does that teach you about what’s next?

✨ 7. Entrepreneurship is the wildest, most sacred personal growth journey.

It will test every insecurity.

It will expose every limiting belief.

And it will make you stronger, wiser, and more you than ever before.

I wouldn’t trade this path for anything.

So if you’re in the thick of it, feeling uncertain or stuck or like you should be further along…

Just know: You’re not behind. You’re BECOMING. 

Your dream business doesn’t come from grinding harder.

It comes from trusting yourself more.

For years, I thought growth required struggle. 

That if work didn't feel difficult, I wasn't really "earning" my success.

So when people gave me business advice pushing me to build a business around work I didn't enjoy or excel at, I thought it was a natural part of getting to that next level. 

I followed their advice and built an agency requiring me to focus on everything I was naturally terrible at. 

(Spoiler: I have ADHD. Operations and project management are NOT my jam.)

The irony?

The work I was undervaluing — the strategic thinking that felt effortless — was actually my most valuable offering.

I just couldn't see it.

It took me a LONG time to learn that the business you deserve isn't built on your ability to suffer through difficult work.

Your natural gifts aren't something to apologize for or give away for free.

They're your MOST premium asset.

Is less exciting than you think. 

It's less scary than you think, too. 

I've been creating content on social media for 7.5 years. 

I've always been oddly comfortable sharing online (that's a whole other story)

But for every jerk, there are 100s of people sending connection requests, expressing gratitude, sharing stories, and cheering me on.

- I needed this
- You've inspired me
- I thought I was alone
- Your story is so brave

I'm not going to lie. Being insulted sucks. No one is immune to that. Not fully. 

Even those who have adapted, are used to it, and know it's about them, not us. 

But, crazy as it sounds, being insulted is worth it. 

— Turning pain into purpose
— Inspiring the next generation
— Teaching those hungry to learn
— Helping someone feel less alone
— Sharing a story you just NEED to get out

It's all worth it. 

Not to mention how it helps me build a fast-growing business. 

Clients come to me BECAUSE I share those stories. 

They know me. They like me. They trust me. 

Because they know I've been through it, I get it, and I'll always be raw, real, and honest about it. 

I know it's scary to think about trolls, bullies, and haters. 

But they do NOT matter. 

Instead, think about whom you're trying to help and the difference you can make. 

THEY matter. 

Life is too short to be afraid of some sad, insecure, petty people with nothing better to do than insult strangers on the internet.

Things no one tells you about divorce (but should):

And I don’t just mean marriage.

I mean any “this isn’t working anymore” moment.

→ Divorce from a partner.
→ Divorce from a business.
→ Divorce from a career identity.
→ Divorce from who you thought you’d be.

Here’s what I wish someone had told me:


1. It will feel like grief… even if you’re the one choosing it.

There’s a death here.
• A death of your old identity.
• A death of “the plan.”

Grieve it. Don’t rationalize it.

2. You’ll be afraid of what people think. And that will feel like shame.

You’ll be surprised how much your identity was tied to being seen a certain way.

But that shame? It’s a sign you’re shedding a skin you’ve outgrown.


3. You’ll want a clean break. But there’s no such thing.

There are messy endings.
There are unravelings.
There are long-ass roads to closure.

The only way out is through.

4. You’ll start to question everything — and that’s the gift.

This moment cracks you open.

You get to re-evaluate who you are, what you value, and how you want to live.

It’s abso-f*cking-lutely terrifying.

And it’s where your power is born.

5. What comes next will be harder—and more beautiful—than you can imagine.

Because freedom isn’t easy. But it IS worth it.

Every single freaking time.

Whatever you’re going through right now...

→ The layoff
→ The breakup
→ The client loss
→ The closed door

I want you to know:

This is a beginning. Even if it doesn’t feel like it yet.

You’re not broken. You’re BECOMING.

I just found a hack that let me do something in 5 minutes that would've taken 45.

I was looking at a potential partner's website—three different service pages, their about section, and a case study. Needed to draft a pitch email that referenced their specific work.

Instead of reading everything, taking notes, then writing the email, I just told Comet: "Draft a partnership pitch email based on these tabs that references their case study with [company name] and connects it to what we do."

It pulled context from all five tabs, wrote a solid first draft, and had it done before I finished my coffee.

Trying to sound professional is actually keeping you broke.

Let me explain.

Most people think sounding professional means using fancy words, corporate language, hiding your personality. Sound smart. Sound polished. Sound like everyone else.
