They fail because no one owns the outcome.

AI cuts across every team - ops, finance, sales, HR, legal - so it ends up belonging everywhere… and therefore nowhere.

The AI Fixer is the person who makes AI real 👇:
- turns leadership intent to reality (not a strategic AI memo)
- uses frameworks to pick the highest-leverage use cases (not random pilots)
- standardises AI workflows so wins compound across teams
- sets guardrails + governance early

We built and launched a product that went viral in 48 hours.

Last weekend, as a side project, Ryan Brandt and I shipped an AI dating app.

It reached 100K impressions in under 24 hours.

Small team. Fast execution.

It started as an experiment, but it reinforced something important:

AI has compressed the distance between idea → product → distribution.

There’s more surface area to build than ever.

A few takeaways:
- Gather feedback early and iterate fast
- Claude Code is excellent for rapid iteration - text is becoming the primary interface
- Iteration beats over-planning

Prompting is a real engineering skill

Distribution is part of the build

We’ve started doing mini hackathons every Sunday - short cycles, fast feedback, real shipping.

Are you an AI Fixer?

It's a new role... but I think it's going to be one of the most in-demand roles this year.

It's not about being a 'cracked' AI Engineer, it's about owning the internal AI operating layer.

This new role usually reports directly to the CEO or COO, and acts as a way to roll out AI strategy at scale. 

For companies, someone who moves across teams and:
- identifies where people are blocked
- triages workflows for automation vs upskilling
- logs and prioritises the highest-leverage internal AI ops

Most companies aren’t behind on AI because of tools.

They’re behind because no one owns where AI should live and how to roll it out. 

The real value isn’t “automate everything.”

It’s deciding what gets automated, what gets augmented, and what needs AI training - and making those decisions compound.

They increased revenue per employee by 33% after rolling out an internal AI mandate.

In 2025, CEO Toby Lutke made AI proficiency a baseline requirement for every role .

AI was framed as a skill multiplier, not a headcount replacement.

What changed operationally:

1. Hiring decisions became AI-first
Before requesting more hires or budget, teams had to show AI couldn’t reasonably do the work. This forced AI into core workflows instead of experiments.

2. Learning was documented and shared
Teams were expected to write down what they built and what worked, creating reusable patterns across the company rather than siloed wins.

3. Automation targeted real work
Widely available tools like ChatGPT and Gumloop were used across strategy, ops, and support for production tasks, not demos. 

The impact scaled quickly.

110+ teams ran 17M+ AI workflows.

The takeaway is simple: companies winning this cycle are raising capability before cutting headcount.

About a year and a half ago, I met Annie Liao 🇦🇺experiencing AI builders building together in a shared offline space.

We then brought that experience to Indonesia, and by last year we have a vibrant community of ~𝟴𝟬𝟬 builders in an active AI builders community across 3 cities in Indonesia.

The community came at the right time when:
-> AI newbies coming in from  -𝟏 𝐭𝐨 𝟎,  gaining the skills, tools and frameworks to use AI in this AI Age
-> AI enthusiasts, learning to build their AI dreams, going from  𝟎 𝐭𝐨 𝟏, launching with community support
-> AI experts, sharing their expertise for those going from  𝟏 𝐭𝐨 𝐍

After watching what our AI builders ship products this year, here are some tips on what matters:
1) Builders are model promiscous: Many AI builders have no problems using an ensemble of models in a project; choosing models that focus more strongly on particular tasks. E.g. Claude for codegen, Gemini for massive model context, offline models for cheap inference

2) Vibe coding is the new PRD: Gathering product requirements and executing into a workable prototype immediately is now the standard.

3) Hallucinations are the product killer: Models that confidently lie remain the #1 blocker for real-world deployment. "Trust but verify" becomes necessary in production. The "Senior Engineer" mindset matters more than ever.
