Who do you credit for changing your life?

Mine, hands down, 100% Jasmin Alic.

I came here as another scroller. Hoping maybe to find a cool gig, but ended up building my 2nd company.

But at first, I had no idea how to use this platform.

So I'd study Jasmin's work like my life depended on it.

(At that point, it kind of did)

Literally implemented everything he said:

- Treat LinkedIn like your part-time job
- Focus 90% of your post on your hook
- Comment/engage with at least 20 ppl/day
- Pay attention to how you format your posts

..... And literally so many other things.

My biggest unfair advantage?

My writing was just reviewed at a local university.

(Which is crazy bc I don't have a degree)

I grew up in a rural town. My dad had a 9th-grade education. College wasn’t the plan. Survival was.
 
So when I got the call, I cried.
 
Not because of the classroom.
 
But because of the distance between where I started and where I’m standing now.
 
The road here wasn’t easy. 

(if i wrote about it, you might need therapy haha)
 
But sitting there, listening to students critique my work, I felt proud and grateful.
 
And I could see it in their eyes too: possibility.
 
My life is proof that you can build something meaningful, even if your starting point wasn't good. 
 
We are all here to create and build incredible things.

No matter what cards you were dealt.

Yesterday, I was salsa dancing on a beach.  

As a 37-year-old, single, divorced woman.  

At one moment, I paused and looked at the sea, realizing just how far I've come.
 
Because back in 2020, I was in a really low place. 

I made a 3.5-hour move to a new town (Charleston) to restart my life and was absolutely terrified. 

Plus, 2020 was the height of COVID.  

A lot was happening.  

I had sold my business and took a very entry-level job working in Supply Chain during Covid. 

It was hard work. Frustrating. And I dealt with a lot.  

There were many times I'd be alone in my Airbnb and cry because I missed my family. I felt like I was alone in the world. Those were some really hard times.  

But yesterday was a beautiful reminder that when life gets challenging, there is always hope. 

(Even if you don't feel it in the moment) 

If you just keep going long enough, you'll reach that moment where everything comes together.  

And you'll sit in awe of what you've accomplished.

So if you aren't where you want to be, remember God/the universe always has your back.  And this too shall pass 🙏

Most people get way too stuck on Linkie.

Because they forget this one important thing:

Their audience.

- Which means connecting with them.
- Writing posts that speak directly to them.
- Understanding the content that they actually like.

Most importantly?

Having real conversations in the DMs.

Throw out your attachment to your posts. Your videos. Everything that you "like" that you think should work.

And just start connecting with your clients.

Often in life, we overcomplicate the simplest things.

And Linkie, I feel, is one of them.

Rant over from an island in South Carolina.

Social media is changing us as humans.

And I don’t think it’s for the better.

I remember growing up in the 90s where we were completely disconnected. I never remember experiencing boredom.

Or doom scrolling.
Or seeing who liked my story. 
Or curating the perfect photos. 

Things were super simple then, but now I feel that social media has completely overcomplicated life for us as humans.

To where we don’t know how to live without our phones and WIFI.

We are connected like no other, but are isolated like no other. And in America, I feel this is worse.

I’ve started taking an inventory of life and my social media usage (outside of LinkedIn) and I have found that I’m lacking in so many areas.

So I removed all my social accounts, but this one. 

And I’m vowing for the next 90 days to experience a life similar to what I did as a kiddo. 

Less connected.
More time with people. 
More time developing new hobbies.

I hope this will encourage all of us to maybe think about ways we can reconnect.

And stay off our phones. 

And truly live again.

Not to help them “sound impressive.”

Every question you’re asked is really about one thing:
Risk.
→ Can we trust this person?
→ Will they ramp quickly?
→ Will they create impact?
→ Will they stay?
Most candidates answer what was asked.

Strong candidates answer what’s underneath it.

Before any interview, I make my clients pressure-test five things:

• Does your story show direction, or drift?
• Can you clearly articulate the business impact you’ve had?

• Do your questions signal ownership?

If any of those are weak, the offer gets shaky.

A few patterns I see constantly:

➤ They give polished strengths but no evidence.

➤ And when the interviewer says, “Do you have any questions?”

They ask something safe instead of something strategic.

The strongest candidates understand this:

You’re not there to prove you’re capable.

“Tell me about yourself.”

Four simple words.

And suddenly your brain goes blank.

10 years of work
5 roles
12 projects
…and somehow summarize it in 30 seconds 🙄

Instead of overthinking it, use this simple structure.

Here’s one that works in almost every interview:

✅ 1. 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐫𝐨𝐥𝐞

Anchor them in the present.

Who are you professionally today?

Example:  “I’m a product manager with 6 years of experience in fintech, focused on building user-centric products and improving customer adoption.”

Now they know exactly who you are.

✅ 2. 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 1–2 𝐤𝐞𝐲 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐭𝐡𝐬

What are you known for? Pick the skills that matter most for the role.

Example:
“My core strengths are product strategy and cross-functional collaboration. In my current role, I’ve worked closely with engineering and design teams to launch products used by over 200K users.”

This shows what you’re good at.

✅ 3. 𝐒𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐚 𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐜𝐤 𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭

Add one result that proves your impact.

Example:
“One project I’m particularly proud of was leading a feature rollout that increased user engagement by 35% within three months.”

Now the interviewer sees results, not just responsibilities.

✅ 4. 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝

This is where most candidates miss the mark.

Don’t end with what you want. End with how you help them.

Example:
 “I noticed this role focuses heavily on improving product adoption. In my current role, I’ve worked closely with cross-functional teams to launch features that improved user engagement by 35%, so I’m excited about bringing that experience here.”

Now the interviewer can clearly see how you fit the role.
