As part of UC Davis' Design Interactive Spring 2021 cohort, my team and I designed a web-based student learning platform for our client PlayTest.

Find My COVID Test

Find My COVID Test is the fastest and easiest way to find a COVID-19 test in California, USA. The platform allows for the most personalized COVID-19 test near the patient, based on their preferences for insurance coverage, testing method, distance, etc. My website increases the accessibility of COVID-19 testing. 

Created as a direct response to the challenges of finding a COVID-19 test, Find My COVID Test was created from start to finish within 6 weeks during the Summer of 2020. The idea formed after my own struggles finding a COVID test. Although there are government websites that provide testing information, there is no easy way to immediately filter and find COVID testing that meets your medical background and personal preferences.

To solve this problem, I designed an interactive prototype in Figma and developed the website using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Google Maps API, and Firebase. To populate the testing center database, I have hand checked over 300 testing locations in California for the relevant criteria being filtered. 

Since the release of Find My COVID Test, I have been able to positively impact the community by helping more than 3,000 people find COVID-19 tests in an average of 34 seconds.

From August 2016 to April 2017, I interned at Hack Club, a non-profit organization in the San Francisco Bay Area that helps high school students start after noon coding clubs. 

As part of my internship I helped with the curriculum, marketing/ advertising, and outreach:

Hi! I'm Matthew, a Product Designer in San Francisco, CA. Previously, I was at Toybox Labs, a kid-friendly 3D printer startup.

Previously, I was a UX Designer at The Savage Bureau, a design agency located in San Francisco, CA where I worked on client projects for Salesforce and Shorenstein Properties LLC. 

I began my design journey in high school, where I found a passion for web development. Originally a Computer Science major, I soon realized that the program was not the right path for me. Instead, I found my calling in the Design major where I was been able to learn more about UI/UX and web design and development. 

Using my skills and experience in design and development, I hope to work and create a difference in the world. I am constantly looking for new things to learn and improve myself.
