I joined Psybergate as the first non founder manager.  I was part of Psybergate’s executive committee along with it's 2 directors.  I played a general management role and was involved in all aspects of the business but particularly operations, human resources, account management and resourcing.  Some of my accomplishments include: growing the Pretoria office; Initiation and completion of Psybergate’s Broad Based Black Economic Empowerment (BBBEE) scorecard as well as MICT SETA Workforce Skills Plan and Annual Training Report; Obtaining funding for Psybergate’s Java Internship Programme; Increasing staff salaries to more industry competitive ones; Establishing and Implementing HR policies, adding structure to the Resourcing Area.

I was initially on a 6 month contract which was extended to an 18 month contract.  

During the first part of my contract I worked  primarily as the Program Manager of the IT stream of a project to establish a Client Services Centre at the University of Pretoria.  This was a particularly challenging project for the following reasons:  the deadlines were tight, it involved coordination of 5 different vendors and 3 IT departments, and the users of the systems were only appointed in the month before the centre went live.  Despite these challenges, the CSC opened on schedule with functioning IT systems.  

During the latter part of my contract I managed the business development activities within the computing Programme of icomtek, was part of the Computing Programme’s management team, and project managed various projects.

I worked initially as a consultant for Intec Services on projects in various sectors.  My role involved:  Analysis, Facilitation of workshops, Business Process Engineering, Project Management, Mentoring, SDLC consulting, Feasibility Studies, and Assisting business to develop business cases, initiate and scope projects.  

I assisted the MD of the holding company on various initiatives including: Formulating an internal IT direction, strategy and architecture; and championing the group intranet; How to market the groups products and services; Recruiting university graduates; Facilitating various strategy workshops.  

At the beginning of 2000 I moved into the Delivery Manager position for the Microsoft Application Development area and later into the Technology Solutions Manager position of the Object Oriented Application Development Area.  Both these management positions included: staff management, line management, client and account management, strategy formulation and execution, sales, project management, high level analysis, quality assurance and testing.  The latter position included plotting a course for the business unit as their main technology was no longer commercially viable.  I also served as a Trustee on the Group’s Provident Fund.
