𝗭𝗜𝗠 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗦𝗵𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗕𝗲 𝗔𝗰𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗱 🏗️

Big news for one of our long term shipping holdings. I’ve been bullish on ZIM for years, even discussing it in a forum with Gavin Macaulay around two years ago on Copytraders Club. That patience has now paid off.

Hapag-Lloyd has agreed to acquire ZIM for $35 per share in cash, valuing equity at roughly $4.2 billion, a 58% premium to the pre-announcement close. 

ZIM’s Israeli operations will be carved out into a new entity backed by Hapag-Lloyd and FIMI Opportunity Funds. The combined company would rank among the largest global container lines.

I plan to exit before completion. Most of the move has played out and I’ve also collected a strong dividend. It wasn’t smooth, there were periods underwater, but my patience was rewarded.

𝗲𝗧𝗼𝗿𝗼 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗽 𝗟𝘁𝗱 𝗕𝗲𝗮𝘁𝘀 𝗘𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀💲

I built a position near 52 week lows and was patient on the way down amd was happy to build a position at those levels.

Q4 2025 results topped expectations: EPS of $0.71 (vs. ~$0.64–$0.69 expected) and revenue of $226.8 million (ahead of ~$222 million estimates). Net income rose year-over-year, driven by strong activity across stocks and crypto. The company also increased its share buyback to $100 million. Shares jumped nearly 20% on the day. So far, the trade is working.

𝗦𝗶𝗹𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝘂𝗲𝘀 𝗟𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿🔘

After two bullish years, I flipped bearish on silver and am short Sprott Physical Silver Trust ETF. The position is up over 32%.

A stronger U.S. dollar, tighter liquidity, shifting Fed expectations, and profit-taking have pressured metals. Silver’s industrial exposure amplifies moves, making it a cleaner short than gold in this environment with higher beta.

I won’t overstay it, once the bulk of the move is captured, I’ll close.

𝗕𝗶𝘁𝗰𝗼𝗶𝗻 𝗨𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲 ₿

Crypto has weighed on the portfolio. I still view this as a correction rather than a prolonged bear market. Volatility has structurally declined over time, and while a 55% drawdown hurts, I doubt we see the 80%+ collapses of prior cycles.

Altcoins are hit harder but tend to rebound fastest when sentiment improves. I’ve added small Bitcoin positions and believe sub-$70K levels will likely look attractive long term, even if short term weakness continues.

Overall, a mixed period: strong gains in shipping and silver, offset by crypto softness. I’ve often found that leaning in during uncomfortable periods and trimming when things feel easy, delivers the best long-term results.
