Now that you are here, let me tell you a bit about my background and career aspirations.

I am an industrial engineer with 10+ years of work experience in Supply Chain Management. I use simulation, mathematical optimization and data science tools to solve seemingly complex Supply Chain problems. These include network design, facility location, resource planning, inventory optimization and scheduling, among others. I also pay attention to the scalability of my models/solutions, i.e., many of them are hosted on cloud or local storages and stakeholders can use them whenever they want to. Also given the complexity of the problems, I deploy algorithms that are able to provide results within a reasonable time frame. Apart from the main work, I do teaching and I love sharing knowledge with others.

Every LinkedIn post looks like this nowadays. 

One sentence here.

A punchy sentence with an emoji here. 💣

It is obvious that those posts are AI-generated. 

But I'm not complaining. At least AI understood how to write posts that people will actually read 🙂

Otherwise folks were posting an entire chapter as a post - obviously not many people were reading them. 

AI got it quickly that attention span of people is very short and you can't make people read long posts.

This chart says a lot about where we are vs where we could be with AI.

The teal area shows theoretical AI capability across professions.
The pink area shows actual AI usage today.

And the gap is… massive.

In many knowledge-heavy fields -
📊 Business & finance
💻 Computer & math
⚖️ Legal
🏗️ Engineering
🎓 Education

AI could already automate or augment a large share of tasks.

But real adoption remains surprisingly small.

Why?

Because the real bottleneck isn’t the technology anymore.
It’s integration, trust, workflows, and incentives.

AI doesn’t create value just by existing.
It creates value when it is embedded into how work actually gets done.

The biggest opportunity right now is not building new models.

It’s bringing AI into real operational processes.

Examples: • AI inside planning workflows
• AI inside procurement decisions
• AI inside supply chain operations
• AI inside financial analysis

This is where the next productivity wave will come from.

The companies that win won’t be the ones talking about AI.
They’ll be the ones operating with AI.

And today, the gap between potential and reality is still huge.

✨️ I’ll be speaking at this upcoming Simulation & AI network meeting on March 17, an informal global session for people interested in the intersection of simulation modeling and AI.

In my talk, I’ll focus on a practical question: how GenAI can - and cannot - support simulation modeling. I’ll share concrete examples of how AI can help translate business questions into model inputs, support data preparation and model configuration, and make simulation tools more accessible - as well as the areas where solid modeling expertise still matters most.

The event is free and intended as an open knowledge-sharing session for the simulation community.

We are a small group of Manufacturing Simulation enthusiasts that has an interest in AI as well. Because of that we have arranged a small private network meeting where we will listen to 3 speakers and their take on simulation & AI in combination.
The event is a scale up from a small local Danish network that we would like to share with a larger global network – Just for fun.
Because of our common background the topic is mainly focusing on Discrete Event & Manufacturing Simulation in combination with AI.

🚀 One role that is exploding in tech hiring: Forward Deployed Engineer

Not quite a software engineer.
Not quite a consultant.
Something in between.

Forward Deployed Engineers (FDEs) work directly with customers to turn real problems into working technical solutions.

They:
🔹 Understand operations and real pain points
🔹 Connect messy data and systems
🔹 Build prototypes and models
🔹 Adapt the product to reality
🔹 Deploy solutions that actually get used

Companies like Palantir Technologies, OpenAI, Scale AI and Anduril Industries have made this role mainstream — and demand keeps growing fast.

Why? Because real-world AI is rarely plug-and-play.

It needs engineers who can bridge product and reality.

Forward Deployed Engineer might become one of the defining technical roles of the AI era.

I had the pleasure to speak at the amazing #simulation mini-conference organized by Jesper Rost Villumsen and Rasmus Jansson on "Simulation & AI".

It was amazing to see the engagement from the audience and high-quality discussions.

My main points were the followings:
- AI is here, let's use it for the benefit of the simulation community, make simulation accessible to more and more users
- We can use LLMs for input handling, configurations, scenario generation, and output interpretation as of now, which is already a huge time saver.
- LLMs are not able to generate fully fledged simulation models (as of now), however, we can still use them for modifying the existing models to match different edge cases coming from the users.

game-based learning is 10x more effective than reading lecture notes. we all remember Beer Game for example, but probably have forgotten 95% of things we learnt during the classes.

Over the past months I’ve been building Operations Management Games - a small collection of browser-based simulators for teaching and exploring core Operations Management concepts. The idea is simple: turn standard models into interactive experiments, so students can observe variability, bottlenecks, and economic trade-offs instead of only calculating them. Few examples here:
