Questioning the defaults.

This year, I've watched teams cut project timelines in half, slash budgets by 70%, and ship work they thought was "impossible"—by simply questioning how things have always been done.

Those 7 words cost more than any line item.
They cost speed, relevance, and competitive edge.

The 3-step process to save money and time:

STEP 1: Name your "defaults" list
Write down every sentence that starts with "we always" or "it always takes."

"We always need 6 months for that"
"It always requires an outside agency"
"We always wait for approval first"
"That always costs $X"

Don't filter. Just list them. 
You'll be shocked how many invisible rules are running your calendar and budget.

STEP 2: Ask one question for each item: "Is this still true?"

Most constraints are inherited.
Someone decided something 3 years ago, and now it's gospel.

But markets changed. AI tools changed. Your team changed.

What would happen if you cut this timeline/budget in half?

STEP 3: Run one experiment (this week)

Pick your most annoying "default" and test the opposite.
Just one.

For example: Artlist knew that Super Bowl ads always take 6 months and millions of dollars to produce. So they tested the opposite: 

What if they only had 5 days and their AI toolkit? 
It worked. They didn't just ship—they parodied other 2026 Big Game ads that were *just* released.

You don’t necessarily need to make a Super Bowl commercial.
You just need to prove one assumption wrong.
That's how you build momentum.

Most "impossible" projects are just waiting for someone to ask "what if we did this differently?"

The most valuable currency in 2026 is boldness.

1. Take a solo trip to explore a new city.
2. Take yourself out to a fancy dinner. Eat at the bar with a good book.
3. Spend a “think” weekend with no phone. Write all your goals for the year.
4. Negotiate your salary. You don’t get what you deserve; you get what you ask for.
5. Take a course on personal finance and get your investments in order.
6. Say no to something you’re lukewarm about without guilt.
7. Spend a Sunday walking through a museum or art gallery alone.
8. Live alone (even for a little while). Design a home you’re proud of.

10. Apply for the job you don't feel "ready" for.

14. Go to a yoga or meditation retreat.
15. Spend 30 days learning something completely outside your comfort zone: a language, an instrument, a skill.
16. Work from a coffeeshop alone and strike up a conversation with a stranger.
17. Set a boundary with someone you love — and hold it.
18. Plan a dinner party and host it entirely by yourself.
19. Write down everything you actually want from life: career, relationships, health, lifestyle. Your “rich life” should feel slightly unreasonable.
20. Realize that your own company is enough. It always has been.

You don’t have to do everything alone in life.

But there’s an incredible confidence to knowing
*without a shadow of a doubt*
that you don’t need someone else to make your life full.
