•	Competence - responsible for running a PM mentoring scheme and offering coaching towards the APM’s RPP and ChPP awards
•	Conference – responsible for organising a biennial project management conference
•	FEL – a commission for academic research into decision making at project front end loading stages
I also participate in or contribute to the following working groups:
•	Big data – encouraging the uptake of AI and big data in project controls and management
•	Complex projects – enhancing skills in leading complex projects
•	Diversity and inclusion – encouraging greater workforce participation from under-represented groups
•	Project controls – establishing a development path for project controls personnel
•	Collaboration – creation and promotion of a national Project Collaboration Toolkit (PCT).

Responsible for all project aspects including schedule, cost, quality, risk, scope, interface & change management, reporting and client interface/liaison. This is within the framework of a standard engineering process and a well established project management and governance framework. At times, the role involves account and service provision management.

Geoprober Drilling Limited

I managed the company’s largest ever project for their major client, Shell UK. A complex engineering project, this involved the development (from concept through design, procurement, construction, qualification, testing & operation) of new subsea drilling technology. The project had a large number of interfaces & stakeholders. Responsible for all project aspects including schedule, cost, quality, risk, information, scope, interface & change management, vendor management, reporting, client interface & liaison and project controls. In addition, I introduced project management, engineering & business support processes into the company whilst pursuing challenging project objectives.

RRC Controls Services Limited

I managed a portfolio of subsea control systems projects delivering to time, quality and budget. Close interface with clients, vendors and an internal team was required to achieve challenging delivery targets, and use of project management best practice was essential. I also provided business development support to the organisation, including preparation, review and submission of bids and proposals.

MWH for Scottish Water

I managed delivery of the hydraulic modelling and optioneering phase of a major civil engineering programme. This involved managing a number of external consultants at multiple locations to deliver a number of individual projects. I provided support and advice on key project/programme management disciplines and tools.

Held roles as departmental and project manager. Projects managed included:
•	transition of services between operators upon sale of N. Sea assets;
•	financial systems implementation
•	major upgrade of client infrastructure;
•	installation of multi-operator subsea fibre system;

I also provided advice on best practice to projects throughout the organisation.

Whilst at Petrofac I became a founder member of the local chapter of the Association for Project Management. As secretary and chairman, I have contributed to its rapid growth as a voice for project management in the area.
