Mark C. Updegraff moved to Rochester, NY in 1997 to pursue his Bachelor's of Science from Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) in Imaging and Photographic Technology.  As an undergraduate student he participated in co-operative work academic quarters for NASA, Pictometry, and as an independent 4x5 film photographer.

In 2003, after working for Kodak, Mark took a position in RIT's Center for Imaging Science and began his Master's studies in Color Science.

Mark took a position with ITT Corporation in 2009 where he worked on video quality metrics, end-to-end spectral imaging systems, and electro-optical systems for high altitude aircrafts.  

In 2010, Mark decided to focus his efforts fully on his real estate redevelopment companies; Wedge Redux LLC, Ward Redux LLC, and Raze Capital LLC.  These companies rehabilitate neglected properties into fully refurbished, market rate, rental homes in the greater Rochester area.

Mark now oversees Updegraff companies in the development, management and brokerage of residential, commercial, and mixed-use real property.  His vision for Upstate NY, real estate, and technology are evident through his plans and generated results.  

Mark is a city of Rochester advocate, employer, entrepreneur, and business owner.  He is passionate about striving to provide safe, clean, affordable, sustainable, adaptable, space for the community at large while garnering the best and brightest minds in an effort to stimulate the economy through creativity, innovation, and workforce development.

Currently Mark spends time raising capital for syndications in the industrial, multifamily, self storage and built to rent asset classes while overseeing the operations of the Updegraff Companies.  His leadership style attracts other leaders eager to deploy new technologies, hone their skills and take massive action.  Under his guidance associates are able to independently flourish into peak producers in their own strengths. 2019 Architizer Jury award-winning firm focusing on interior architecture, interior design, lighting design, product design, and fabrication  

Highlights include designing from conception to installation a signature lobby and lounge for an 80 unit new construction residential building in the center of Adams Morgan in Washington DC. Work included all phases of interior architecture, lighting design, and interior design, as well as manufacturing 23 custom backlit panels, hand-gilded with aluminum leaf.

Doner Studio

Directed the fine art and design studio of international artist and designer Michele Oka Doner. Managed diverse projects from monumental sculpture to design collections with prominent architects, interior designers, and galleries worldwide.  

●	Worked with the Global Store Development team at Tiffany & Co. to design, develop, prototype and manufacture signature chandeliers and sconces, which were installed in flagship stores in New York, Los Angeles, Paris, Tokyo, Hong Kong, and Singapore among other locations. Hundred of sconces were also installed in stores internationally.

●	Project manager for Micco, a three-story tall poured in place concrete sculptural pavilion with integrated landscaping that is the iconic center of Doral, FL. Work involved 3D scanning and 5 axis CNC milling of 50 ft styrofoam blocks to create a full size on-site mold. 
 
●	Developed design and production techniques and strategic manufacturing partnerships utilized in projects in Doha, Qatar, Gstaad, Switzerland, and London, UK. 

●	Worked with clients to design complex large-scale commissioned pieces, and then managed the development process, studio production, fabrication, and final installation.

Partner in a real estate development and holding company. Over 20 years of active real estate investing experience including buying, selling, developing, and renting properties in NJ and NY.   

●	Acquired and developed a commercial and residential property in a super prime location in Northside Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Property was purchased prior to rezoning and development was started to secure 421a tax abatement benefits. Unique cor-ten steel facade and refined construction details make the building a local landmark. Current market value is over 8x the initial purchase price.

As a designer, my primary focus is on listening to my client’s needs. Design is a collaborative process, and working together with clients is the only way to create innovative design that realizes their vision and also solves real problems. I’ve been designing and making art my entire life and I enjoy sharing my knowledge and guiding clients through this creative process. 

As a project manager, my goal is to ensure that no obstacle comes in the way of realizing that vision. Clients appreciate my 20 years of national and international experience completing the most challenging architectural, public art, sculpture, decorative art, product development, and retail projects from origination to final installation. This experience guides me every step of the way in achieving success.
