• Direct the daily clinical administrative operations of various out-patient services including,  but not limited to, Anesthesia Pain, Orthopedics, Dental and Pulmonary.  Serve as a liaison between patients, clinicians, front desk staff and administrators to facilitate throughput and ensure patient satisfaction. 

• Ad Hoc and Overbooking facilitator approving or modifying requests based on space occupancy and usage restraints.  

• Resident “expert” on coding issues for Anes Pain Management billing documents.  Integral role in an interdepartmental endeavor to correct and update physician and hospital billing for 5 physician practices; corrected billing prevented years of previously recurring revenue losses.

• Creation and implementation of scheduling and CPT guidelines for Anesthesia Pain OR cases 

• Ensure efficient use of clinic space by implementing room allotment strategy during increases in patient volume while minimizing wait times. 

• Monitor physician templates and make continuous improvement suggestions to management and clinicians to increase clinic efficiency.

• Selected as representative for Shared Drive Initiative; 6 month project to create a new department-wide intranet drive accessible by all Care Coordinators in order to facilitate the flow of information to staff covering unfamiliar clinics.  Supervised 14 of my peers in the production of “cheat sheets” for 29 physician clinics from 6 separate departments.  Presented completed project at a monthly staff meeting of over 100 Care Coordinators, Office Assistants and Administrative Managers.

• Created “recognition board” to improve morale among staff and successfully motivated coworkers to regularly post recognition of peers.  Patients, MDs and other clinical areas also participate.

• Served as face of institution, offering warm welcome to patients and conveying updated information and paperwork to Care Coordinator II/III’s upon patients' arrival to clinic. 

• Scheduled and coordinated labs, radiology scans, consults, and surgeries while ensuring all clinicians' written orders were completed accurately interdepartmentally as well as externally. 

• Oriented and mentored newly hired Care Coordinators in patient care, health information systems, administration and taught intricacies of each specific clinical practice. Oversaw and signed off on all mentees' work before submitted for final scheduling. Participated in developmental role play training exercises for two groups of new Care Coordinators.

As a successful minority professional, you should feel free and have options, not shackled and captive. You’ve worked hard to climb the corporate ladder and get further than anyone else in your family. This is not what you were told life would look like after “making it.” 

A lot of professionals slowly succumb to the lifestyle-creep that results in higher expenses and feeling like they have an inability to get ahead.

The way to really get ahead is to invest in cash flowing, appreciating, stable assets - not cutting your daily latte…
