(In ANY niche)

STRATEGY 1 - MULTI-THREAD CONVOS

What these are:

Starting new DM convos with 2 threads: business & personal.

How to do it:

Pretty straightforward...

You start both business & personal conversational threads when sending initial DMs.

The effect:

Prospect realizes you’re not just there to take their $$.

On the personal side there’s an opportunity to portray yourself as similar to the prospect (increasing likability).

Key is going DEEP on the personal side.

Show prospect you know about their culture/geography/life.

Pull from past experience, opinions & beliefs.

STRATEGY 2 - PRYING PAIN POINTS

What this is:

Asking questions uncovering pain points while positioning you as someone who understands their biz.

How to do it:

Ask a specific Q about their biz.

Then gain clarity via more specific follow-ups deeper into the convo.

The effect:

THIS IS WHAT “DIRECTLY” LEADS TO CALLS BOOKED.

STRATEGY 3 - AUTHORITY-BUILDING OBSERVATIONS

What these are:

Observations building your authority.

How to do it:

Make observations about something ONLY a true authority in your prospect’s niche can make.

Get hyper-specific, use numbers and metrics, show that you understand the concept you’re talking about at the deepest level.

Make it as related to your prospect as possible.

The effect:

Prospect perceives you as an expert in their niche.

This signals you can help them at a high level.

So they want to talk to you.

STRATEGY 4 - ADDING VALUE DETACHED FROM THE SALE

What this is:

Giving your prospects something of value WITHOUT directly leading to the sale.

How to do it:

Add value in the form of…

- Sending resources (create once and distribute to infinity)

- Foreshadowing intros to valuable & helpful people

- Making genuinely helpful observations/giving tips to your prospect

Key is it has to be REAL value.

Hyper-specificity is important here.

In your resources, intros & observations.

Cut the fluff and ambiguity.

Seriously cut it out.

The effect:

Prospect perceives you as:

- Genuinely caring about them

- An authority in THEIR niche and industry

These 2 things build MASSIVE trust.

You’ll book more calls + close at a much higher rate.

1 - Conveying yourself in the best way for a prospect to like, trust & believe in you

The purpose of EVERYTHING other than prying pain points is to paint a specific image of yourself.

2 - Prying pain points & gaining clarity

Getting deep into their biz to figure out if you can help.

If you can - book a call.

If you can’t - don’t.

Here’s why your DM outreach sucks (and how to fix it energetically):

I’ve sent 20K+ DMs on LinkedIn.

Tested DMs at every energy level.

You either:

DM from negative energies.

Get a 10% reply rate & don’t book calls.

OR:

DM from positive energies.

35%+ reply rate & book 10+ calls a week.

Energy is transmitted via DMs.

Tonality = desperate to make $$, always available, will bend over backwards to acommodate (easily pushed around/not respected)

EXAMPLE DM FROM DESIRE:

"I would love to get on a call with you and explain our process! I'm free any time you are so let me know and I'll make time”

Prospect thinks you’re desperate.

DMing from anger (150hz):

Tonality = entitled, passive aggressive, very attached to sale

EXAMPLE DM FROM ANGER:

"Are you kidding me? You really just ghosted me. I've sent you 4 messages in a row lol... must be busy I guess. I'm good then”

Prospect thinks you’re a loose cannon not to be trusted.

DMing from pride (175hz):

Tonality = insecure, bragging, easily offended

EXAMPLE DM FROM PRIDE:

"Hahaha. You really haven't replied since last week. I have clients knocking down my door. Alright cool. Guess this is goodbye. Lol.”

Prospect thinks you’re insecure and inexperienced.

Now here’s how everything changes for you.

Start DMing from COURAGE (200hz).

Infuse with: neutrality (250hz), acceptance (350hz), reason (400hz), love (500hz) & peace (600hz).

It’s how Lab members went from $0 to $20K+/month in a couple months.

It’s how others went from $40K/mo to $80K/mo in the same timeframe.

DETACH from outcome.

Put prospect’s well-being first.

Be free-flowing, fun & positive while maintaining high competence.

I am going to tell you the truth…that so many others won’t admit:

Job hopping, or frequently switching jobs, DOES HURT YOUR RESUME

I’m a recruiter. For the last 9 years I’ve been talking to hiring managers about filling job openings.

I hear it almost every day: “This one jumps around too much, pass on him”

You don’t always get a chance to explain …sometimes it’s a 10 second review of your resume and a quick yes or no…

This post is not meant to put down people who have switched jobs…

I am writing this to help early career candidates

When you take a job, aim to commit for the long term.

When things get hard, don’t just say “oh well, I’ll just quit.”

Sometimes you have to stick it out, and work to make it better.

And if things go really bad, and you have to switch…

Confirm as much as you can that the next one WILL BE longer term

Partner with a recruiter you trust…do research on the company

Because changing jobs is a big decision.

And we need to give it the respect it deserves.

I have NO PROBLEM with a 5+ round interview process.

Recruiters are wrong about that one

Its not the number of rounds that kills you...its the LENGTH of the process.

I've filled tough positions with global stakeholders all in different time zones needing to be involved with the interview...5, 6 or 7 people they all want to meet the candidate.

Its not a problem IF YOU CAN GET THEM IN QUICK SUCCESSION

Meet with 2 people on a Monday, 2 more people on Tuesday, 3 more on Wednesday, offer out by Friday...that will work!

Don't sweat the number of rounds...focus on getting commitment from the client, a defined process with interview times set in advance…then give clear expectations to the candidate up front and stay on the same page throughout.

This morning I made a cold call...

"Hey Mike, I'm not interested to change jobs...but our company is desperate for VDC Engineers...I will connect you with our internal recruiter over email to set you up as a vendor."

An hour later he sends the email out introducing us.

Internal recruiter replies back, copying all, saying "Thank you for the intro!"

Then she sends a second email...this time only to me - "Mike- we don't need your help..."

I reply back...copying the hiring manager BACK into the thread...

"Just want to make sure we are all on the same page...I'm hearing two different things"

Hiring Manager emails back replying all...directing the internal recruiter very sternly to sign me up.

BUSTED!

You are a recruiter with a long term client 

They are great to work with and you are placing multiple people into their company 

You have a candidate going in for a final round…the hiring manager already told you an offer is in the works…

You recruited this candidate, prepared them for multiple interviews, vetted their comp, and locked them in to accept an offer. It’s nearly a done deal. 

The day before the final round you get a call from the company’s internal recruiter: 

“Hey it turns out another agency sent us this same candidate before you. Sorry but if we hire him you will get nothing. We will just pay the fee to the other agency."

Here is my question -

What do you do? 

Do you try to fight it? If yes, what do you say?

Or do you just accept it, bite your tongue, and work on filling the next one?
