Multi-Thread Conversations.

Here's how they work:

STEP 1 - THE OPENER

Keep it simple.

"Hey NAME"

Next...

STEP 2 - THE RESTRAINED COMPLIMENT

Give them a compliment.

But don’t show too much enthusiasm...

Instead of: "LOVE what you're doing with (COMPANY)!"

Use: "Solid work with (COMPANY). Interesting approach"

This shows you're not easily impressed + are an expert.

STEP 3 - THE OFFER REPHRASE

Literally just take what they do and put it into a question.

"You do Google ads for marketing agencies right?"

Pries pain points + shows you did research.

STEP 4 - THE AUTHORITY-BUILDING OBSERVATION

Make an INSIGHTFUL observation about their biz/industry demonstrating your expertise.

"Wait you work with agency owners yeah?

Funny how most agencies have 20-30% margins. 

Super tough to scale because you need to hire A-players and to do that you actually need 40-60% margins..."

Shows you're HIGHLY EXPERIENCED in THEIR niche...

Be hyper-specific on a prospect-by-prospect basis here

STEP 5 - THE PERSONAL CONNECTION

Connect as DEEP as possible personally... use:

- Culture

- Geography

- Hobbies

Example:

"Ahh you're in Chicago? I grew up in Des Moines, Iowa. Like 6 hours West of you guys. Used to go to Evanston all the time. Miss me those deep-dish pizzas. My mouth is watering right now thinking about it"

This shows you're not JUST trying to get the sale.

Plus you build a warm connection.

Make this LAST message in your initial DMs so it's what someone sees in their DM inbox when they open it up.

Here’s what ACTUALLY HAPPENS when you send DMs at an energetic level.

You send 10 DMs.

You get 4 replies.

6 ignore you.

1 of the replies says “not interested”.

2 others end up unqualified.

1 books a call.

In the meantime YOU GET TRIGGERED:

“Ugh why are they not replying”

(Anger/frustration)

“They ghosted me… who do they think they are?”

(Insecurity/unworthiness)

“They didn’t reply. I don’t wanna look desperate so I won’t follow up”

(Fear of judgment)

Unconsciously listening to these emotions and doing what they tell you to will cost you BIG TIME.

You must be in control of your emotions.

Be conscious of your triggers.

And act LOGICALLY.

That’s how you book 10+ calls a week on LinkedIn.

You are the master of your emotions, not the slave.

3 - QUANTITY

OK boom so now your last potential bottleneck is quantity.

You are NOT sending enough DMs.

PERIOD.

You think you are.

But you’re not.

Luckily you don’t need to send 2,000 a day.

Not even 200 a day.

Send 20 DMs a day consistently, Monday-Friday.

You’ll be OVERFLOWING with clients.

Coming from my own, coaching clients + Lab member experience.

You might need to STOP sending DMs in order to keep up with fulfillment.

(Seen this happen quite a few times actually)

EVERY SINGLE TIME!

I'll have a call schedule at 230pm...it is 2:19pm

So I won't make cold calls...because I don't want to get stuck on a live connect and have to abort the call midway...

EVERY TIME I do that...the 230pm no shows. Just happened again! Guy cost me 11 minutes of talk time. 

New Rule - there is no "C" in my alphabet...for me it goes "A, B, D"

Recruiting is cruel

You can work hard every day...and still fail 

This is the #1 mistake made by hard working recruiters: 

They invest their time into candidates who can DO the job...but don't WANT the job. 

"Look at this candidate pool! These are rock stars!"

Meanwhile the offer letter comes out and they get turn down after turn down. 

The Recruiter's Misconception...they believe their job is to: "Find great candidates"

That is wrong...That would be too easy

No...our job is simply this - Fill positions. Fill them quickly, with the best talent available interested in the role

How hard you worked does not matter...how long it took doesn't matter. 

In this business The ONLY thing that matters...is this:

This is Riley Dixon.

I've spent the last 2 years trying to convince Riley to come work with me.

To quit his job with a Fortune 15 company, move his family 2 hours away, and come work for a 3 year old startup with 12 people.

Back in my first year of recruiting… I somehow got the CFO of a Private Equity firm to answer my cold call.

My boss was shocked..."he answered for you? What did he say?"

"He is going to sign us up…but that guy is a jerk. He talked down to me the whole time. He was acting like he is better than me."

My boss looked at me for a second and said:

"Well Mike...technically he is better than you."

I was stunned.

"He is a CPA with 30 years in business and he is a leader in Private Equity. You are a recent grad with 5 minutes experience. He is the client and you are the salesperson. Act accordingly. Great job though!"

Maybe his bedside manner too direct...

But I was a headstrong young salesperson and I didn't need kindness...I just needed the truth…

You get two options – Someone who says what you want to hear, or someone with the courage to tell you the truth…even when it hurts.

I’ll take the truth every time.
