Yesterday was a milestone for me. I hosted the first pop-up for my new brand, Turco, in a rainy but vibrant Porto.

Coming from the tech world, stepping into the kitchen for a live operation was a completely different beast. The pace is relentless, the challenges are physical, and the feedback is instant. But serving over 50+ people and bringing the community together on a stormy Saturday reminded me why I love building things from scratch.

Here are my key takeaways from this experiment:
• Operational Reality Check: Moving from lines of code to a fast-paced kitchen is a humbling experience. Efficiency is not just a metric; it's the difference between a happy guest and a long wait.

• Fueling Innovation: Stepping out of my comfort zone and into the culinary world has surprisingly reignited the spark and excitement in my core tech projects. Sometimes, to move forward in one industry, you need to challenge yourself in another.

• Community is Everything: Despite the weather, seeing people connect over food was the ultimate reward.

Entrepreneurship is about solving problems, whether they are behind a screen or over a hot grill. I’m exhausted but deeply motivated to keep building, experimenting, and scaling.

Big thanks to everyone who braved the rain and joined the journey. This is just the beginning for Turco!

I just spent 3 full days in Terceira, and it was the perfect reset. It wasn't just a trip; it was a powerful blend of exploring breathtaking landscapes, brainstorming fresh ideas, and staying productive.

I returned yesterday feeling stronger, recharged, and completely refreshed. Sometimes, a change of environment is the best way to spark innovation and gain a new perspective.

Last year, I decided to follow a long-standing passion and enrolled in a Culinary Arts program in Porto. While I completed the first 3 months and gained foundational skills, life and my tech ventures meant I couldn't continue the full program at the time. But the fire was lit.

Fast forward to today: I am officially merging my world of technology with my love for Turkish cuisine. 

This Saturday, March 14th, I’m hosting my first official Turco Porto pop-up in Porto, and I decided to treat it like a startup launch.

The Tech Stack: On March 8th (International Women's Day), inspired by a free credit offer from Lovable, I started building a custom order and management tool. With the help of Cursor, I’ve turned it into a fully functional platform from inventory management to integrated online payments. 

The "Open Data" Twist: In the spirit of the "Build in Public" movement, I’m launching an open dashboard. Guests and followers will be able to see real-time orders and the actual profit/loss of the event. I want to show the raw reality of food entrepreneurship and how technology can make it more streamlined and transparent. 

Why am I doing this? Because I believe the future of food is data-driven and community-focused. Whether you’re an entrepreneur, a tech enthusiast, or just someone who loves a legendary Köfte Ekmek, mezze, or Çiğ Köfte, I’d love to see you there.

For the past few weeks, I’ve been trying to attend 351 Portuguese Startup Association’s Coworking Thursdays regularly again.

Three years ago, when I had just moved to this city and this country, it was one of the first communities I became actively involved in. Back then, I was probably one of the most consistent attendees. Then life and work happened, I took a break… and now I’m back on the field.

What I appreciate most isn’t just the coworking itself. It’s those in-between moments, grabbing food, casual conversations, spontaneous discussions that unexpectedly open new doors, perspectives, and collaborations.

Being around a dynamic, entrepreneurial, and action-oriented crowd always adds something. Energy is contagious.

Geçtiğimiz günlerde yaptığımız bir toplantıda, firmanın tereddüt ettiği belliydi.

Ürünle ilgili değil, bunu yönetime nasıl anlatacağıyla ilgiliydi.

Sorduğu soru: "Bir POC/deneme süreci yapabilir miyiz? Ve bu süreçte ne kadar performans artışı vaat ediyorsunuz?"

Bu soru sıkça karşıma çıkıyor. Farklı bir pencereden bakmamız gerekiyor, neden → 

Ölçümlemenin ROI'sini sormak, şunu sormak gibidir:

• Muhasebe yazılımının ROI'si nedir?
• CRM, performansı ne kadar artırır? 
• SAP'nin anlık gelir etkisi nedir?

Bu araçlar, büyüme taktikleri değil. Operasyonel altyapının bileşenleridir.

Daha iyi ölçümlemek, 30 günde sihirli biçimde %40 performans artışı sağlamaz. Ancak çok daha kritik bir işlev üstlenir:

• Karar almak için gerçek bir görünürlük sağlar.
• Neyin işe yaradığını, neyin bütçeyi boşa harcadığını net biçimde ortaya koyar.
• Her pazarlama ve yatırım kararının referans noktasına dönüşür.

Bu altyapı kurulmadan yapılan her şey, optimizasyon değil; yalnızca tahmindir.

En kritik konu:

Mevcut ölçümleme yapısının yetersiz kaldığını henüz fark etmemiş bir şirketi, daha iyi bir çözüme ikna etmek son derece zor.

Bu araçlar, vaat edilen kazanımlar gerekçesiyle satın alınmaz. Ölçümlenmeyen bir operasyon sürdürmenin yarattığı ağırlık artık taşınamaz hale geldiğinde tercih edilir.

Sorun hiçbir zaman ölçülen veri miktarı değildi. O veriyle aldığımız kararlardı. 👇🏻


Son birkaç yılda ölçümleme sessizce çöktü. Tarayıcılar çerezleri engelledi. iOS cihazlar arası takibi imkansız hale getirdi. Reklam engelleyiciler, pikselleri devreye bile girmeden engelledi. Her ay veri biraz daha bulanıklaştı, ekipler de dashboard’lara biraz daha çok inanarak yollarına devam etti.

Sorun veri kaybı değil. Sorun, o kayıp veriyle alınan onlarca yanlış karar.

Aslında para getiren ama durdurduğunuz kampanyalar. 

Yüksek conversion gösterdiği için bütçeyi iki katına çıkardığınız kanallar.

Google’ın verileri daha az göründüğü için Meta’ya aktardığınız bütçeler - oysa sorun Google’da değil, Google’a iletilen veri akışındaydı.
