My Mentor Sir John Templeton, who I knew from 1972 to 2008, ask me in 1990 to become one of 3 Portfolio Managers for an offshore mutual fund that he owned called Best Investments International Inc. When he sold his Templeton Funds organization to the Franklin Group in 1992, he maintained this fund for his family and his friends.

Leaving BBN James Capel which was renamed HSBC Securities, I retired my broker and portfolio management registrations with the TSE. I then registered with the OSC as an Investment Counsellor, Portfolio Manager at the end of 1996 and began a new Investment Counselling firm.

Integral in building BBN into one of the premier institutional brokerages in Canada, positioning it to be sold to James Capel Inc., part of the Hong Kong Bank, in 1988. Started on the TSE floor, then Block Trader, Institutional Sales, Corporate Finance, Board Director, and Management,

From 1972 to 1996, Neil helped to build Brown Baldwin Nisker (which was sold to HSBC Securities) into one of the premier institutional brokerages in Canada. In 1990, Neil was selected by Sir John Templeton to be one of his three external managers of Best Investments International Inc., a global equity mutual fund which was owned by Sir John. Neil continued to serve in this capacity until 2000. From 1997 to 1999 Neil was Chairman of Nisker Associates, Inc., Strategic Wealth Management, a registered investment firm which was purchased by YMG and subsequently by Fiera Capital, where from 2000 to 2010, he was President of Fiera Private Wealth and Executive Vice-Chairman and Member of the Board of Directors and Governance Committee of Fiera Capital until 2014.

Neil’s extensive charitable activities include the following duties: Chairman of The Jewish Foundation of Greater Toronto, and Chair of its Investment Committee; Vice Chair of the Mount Sinai Hospital Foundation and Chair of its Investment Committee, Co-Chair of the UJA Federation of Greater Toronto, Annual Campaign; Co-Chair of the Baycrest Centre for Geriatric Care, Campaign and Board Member of the Baycrest Foundation; Co-chair of the 2011 JFNA Investment Institute in Palm Beach, Florida and Mentor for the Enablis Entrepreneurial Network. Neil is a frequent speaker at Investment Conferences for Family Offices and Foundations and Endowments.
