LinkedIn just released data saying "founder" is one of the fastest growing job titles of 2026. It's a shame that most of these people will quit and go back to employment by the end of the year. 

Not because they're not good enough. But because being good at what you do and actually getting people to pay you for it are two completely different skills, and nobody teaches you the second one. 

It's the reason brilliant coaches and freelancers are sat there with no clients, wondering what they're doing wrong when the only thing they're missing is knowing how to get visible to the right people.

I’ll get you clients through your content | Founder of The Words People

I cried in front of 15 strangers at a networking event earlier this week.

Yeah, I was beyond mortified. 

I do NOT cry, certainly not in front of people I've known for 90 minutes.

But it was okay. In fact, I probably needed it.

You see, I was sat at a table with incredible women in business and we were all sharing our stories for International Women's Day.

The space felt so safe that I ended up speaking about what business has really meant for me on a personal level.

We were asked what we'd tell our earlier selves. And around the table, it kept coming back to the same thing: 

Be bolder. Be more audacious. Back yourself. Think bigger.

Which, if you've ever met a room full of genuinely impressive women, tells you something.

And it reminded me of my own journey battling imposter syndrome and low confidence since I decided to work for myself.

When you start a business, it's not just your work being put to the test. 

YOU are put to the test.

And I guess now that I've come through that, speaking about it out loud brought feelings to the surface that I didn't even know were there.

It felt incredibly healing, empowering, just beautiful. 

That's the power of women who make you feel safe enough to take on the world.

What the heck are these people complaining about now?

That's genuinely how I come up with every single content idea. And it's the same method I've used for clients whose content has generated millions of views across YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram.

If you're a business owner staring at a blank screen thinking "I have nothing to post," it's because you're trying to come up with ideas from your own head. 

Stop doing that. 

Go find out what your ideal clients are actually frustrated about right now and write about that instead.

Here's what I do:

→ I go into Reddit threads, Facebook groups, comment sections, anywhere my ideal client is venting about their problems in their own unfiltered words. And I write down EXACTLY what they say, word for word. 

→ I use their language in my content. This is the bit that makes people go "how did you know that about me?" You're not guessing. You're just giving their words back to them in a way that helps. 

→ Before I post anything, I check three things: is it specific enough that someone would actually save it? Could anyone have written this or is there something only I would say? And would I send it to a friend dealing with this exact problem? If it fails any of those, I rewrite it. 

"I don't know what to post" is never really the problem. You just haven't listened to your audience closely enough yet. And once you start, you'll never run out of ideas again. 

(I have a list of about 60 posts I haven't written yet. It's becoming a problem.)

P.S. Why DO people hate on business owners?

I was spending more time scrolling on LinkedIn than actually running my business. That's embarrassing to admit but here are 3 things I did to fix it👇

→ I batch all my content on a Sunday. 

I sit down and write every post for the week in one go. That way I'm not waking up every morning going "what the heck do I post today?!” Plus, I can actually see how the whole week fits together. 

If you're making it up as you go every day, try this. It'll free up so much of your week. 

→ I comment on people's posts before and after I upload. 

Around 10 mins each time, nothing crazy. But this is honestly where the growth comes from. Posting is great but commenting is what gets people to notice you, click on your profile, and actually remember who you are. 

If you're only posting and never talking to anyone, you're basically shouting into a room and then walking out (and who wants to be that creep?) 

→ I set a timer for all of it. 

I used to tell myself I'd just quickly check LinkedIn and next thing I know, 2 hours have gone and I've done nothing else with my day 🥲

The timer sorted that out. But it also did something I wasn't expecting. 

When you're on a time limit, you just say what you actually think instead of sitting there agonising over every word. And weirdly that's when your comments sound the most like a real person, which matters a lot right now when most of the comments on here look like AI glitches. 

Trust me when I say these 3 things will make your LinkedIn life easier. I learned this the hard way. I also apply these principles to every social media platform I use.

My most toxic relationship isn't with a person. It's with LinkedIn.

3 years of "it's not you, it's me." Full ghosting periods. Coming back, posting once, disappearing again. Classic avoidant behaviour. 

If LinkedIn were a person it would've blocked me by now and honestly, I wouldn't blame it.

But here's the thing.

I've been a freelance writer for over 3 years. 2,000+ YouTube scripts. SEO articles that hit #1 on Google. Two fiction books with someone who started as an inbound client and became my co-author. (Still one of my favourite things that's ever happened to me.)

I have a degree in languages and philosophy, which mostly means I can overthink in several languages simultaneously. 

And I'm currently getting my TEFL qualification because I wanted to understand how people actually process words, not just write them.

All of that. And I was too scared to post on LinkedIn because what if it was cringe(?!) 

I started posting loosely in January. Nothing strategic, just getting over the fear of pressing publish.

And nobody laughed. Nobody sent a screenshot to a group chat. The world kept spinning.

So now I'm doing it properly.

I'm building The Words People. It's for online business owners, coaches, consultants, agency owners, who are good at what they do but whose content isn't doing anything for them.

I know how to fix that because I've spent years fixing it for other people. I just never had the nerve to do it for myself.

Happy Valentine's Day. I'm officially in a committed relationship with content strategy. We're exclusive. I am not taking questions at this time.

Are Sundays actually rest days when you run a business? Asking for a friend.


Hi, the friend is me. 

I am currently mapping my content calendar across four platforms, deep cleaning my bedroom, doing a 2-hour self-care session, brain dumping into my Notes app, and texting people to lock in my week.

Which I think counts as rest. Comparatively.

(It doesn't count as rest.)

What does your Sunday look like? 🤍

I used to spend hours writing a single LinkedIn post, convince myself I was terrible at this, and delete the app. I did this on repeat for 32 months.

Here are 3 things that actually got me out of that cycle👇

→ I set a timer before I start writing.

30 minutes maximum, no exceptions.

And this did something I didn't expect. The time pressure stopped me overthinking and I just wrote exactly what was on my mind. My posts got more personal, more honest, and somewhere along the way I actually started enjoying it instead of dreading it.

Perfectionism needs time and silence to survive. A ticking clock gives it neither.

→ I stopped waiting until the post felt perfect before hitting publish.

There is no perfect post.

There is only the post that EXISTS and the post that DOESN'T.

And the one sitting in your drafts getting tweaked for the fourth time is doing *nothing* for your business.

The bar isn't "would a professional copywriter be proud of this?" It's "is this useful to one specific person?" Post it and move on. 

→ I batch everything on one morning a week and use AI to help me do it.

One morning, that's it. I argue with Claude about my ideas, let it get an ugly draft on the page, edit, edit, edit, and get the whole week done before lunch.

Unless content is your business (hi, it's mine 👋), you should be spending as little time on this as humanly possible. You have a business to run.

Since doing all of this, I've had people DM me, comment regularly, and come up to me in person to talk about my posts. From an app I deleted so many times, it stopped feeling worth redownloading. Funny how that works.

Please don't be lazy and hire someone to handle your social media content for you.

And I know that deep down, that's just not worth the investment for somebody taking their business seriously.

Do it all yourself, be the hustler, and you'll get there eventually.

79% of London small business owners say work worries are keeping them up at night.

And honestly? I'm in that 79%.

Building a business is bloody tough. 

Some nights I barely sleep, and when I do wake up, it's with adrenaline running through me before I've even swung my legs over my bed. 

So I'm not here to tell you to stop worrying. I get it.

But I did realise something that helped.

The thing keeping most of us up isn't actually what we think it is. 

The research says business owners are losing sleep over geopolitical uncertainty, economic volatility, things genuinely outside of our control.

And you cannot control oil prices. You cannot control what's happening in the Middle East. You cannot control what the government decides to do next.

But what you CAN control is actually quite a lot. 

Your mindset, how consistently you show up, what you delegate, and what you hold onto.

And your content reflects all of that. 

That realisation is why I stopped freelancing and built a business of my own. I was tired of being at the mercy of things I couldn't change. I wanted to build something I could actually steer and take complete ownership of. 

And here's the thing about content specifically. 

The absolute worst case scenario is that you put yourself out there, get visibility, and build a brand presence. 

That's the floor. 

Everything above that is leads, clients, and a business that works even when the world feels like it’s crumbling. 

That's why I help business owners get leads through their content, so at least one part of the business is working even when everything else feels uncertain.

The reason you can’t stay consistent with content isn’t that you’re too busy. The problem is YOU. 

For 32 months, I told myself I'd be consistent with content when I felt ready. 

I was NEVER ready. 

What actually changed things wasn't a new tool or a better system (although they helped). 

It was three uncomfortable decisions I made at the start of this year.

→ I made it a character challenge, not a content challenge.

I stopped asking "What do I post today?" 

and started asking: 

Am I someone who shows up for themselves or not? 
Am I the type to make excuses or get things done? 
Am I going to keep getting in my own way? 

Those questions lit something in me that no content advice ever had.

→ I temporarily tied my worth to my output.

Every wellness account on the internet just flinched. But hear me out… 

"Your productivity is not your worth" is good advice, eventually. It's completely useless when you're trying to build a habit from scratch. 

In the early stages, you need to care deeply about whether you showed up today or not. You need skin in the game. The detachment comes later, once the habit is already there.

→ I built a system strong enough that I had no excuses left.

No "I didn't have time." No "I didn't know what to post." 

I sat down, built a proper content strategy based on my years of experience doing this for other people, put a system in place, and removed every escape route. 

Now, when I don't show up, there's nothing to blame except myself. 

None of this is comfortable. But it's what actually works.
