Remember my electrician friend I posted about? 

In addition to headshots, we wanted to do something super cool for the homepage of his website.

Photography started for me with a love of wildlife and nature. But before long, the creative side of me also started to fall in love with the photography itself. Not only the subjects you could capture. But the stories you could tell with it.

Headshots for me are SO much more than pointing a camera and clicking a button. They have the potential to be your story wrapped up in a single image. So that is what I aim for with every client that walks through the door.

Instead, I focus on the outcomes.

But the reality is that most people aren't thinking about the intricacies of the lighting, the equipment I use, etc. What they really want to know is this:

"Can you help me look like ME in front of the camera?"

When done right, there's nothing more powerful for your visual brand, whether you're a speaker, a founder, or an executive (or all of the above!).

I just spoke with another founder in the creative space.

Despite some initial fears about AI taking our jobs, this is what we’ve BOTH found:

Our businesses have gotten BUSIER since the advent of ChatGPT and other AI platforms.

Here’s why I think that is:

1) We’ve gone ALL IN on real human connection; not just online, but in our work. That’s where the magic happens.

2) We don’t just get paid and then spit out a product. Our expertise is around branding as much as it is our actual product, and that’s extremely powerful when executed.

3) We want our clients to show up as REAL PEOPLE. Not AI completely writing for them. Not an AI representation of themselves in a headshot. But real, authentic PEOPLE.

4) Using that authenticity to help propel their careers forward.

In other words, when you’re focused on the transformation of your clients, and not simply being a commoditized service, you’re not going to be so easily replaced.

You know what I learned EARLY in my business?

Nothing beats having someone show you the way.

Last Saturday, I had a few of the members of my Accelerate Coaching Group who could make it fly in from around the country (and a few locals!) to join me in my studio for some in-person learning. While we frequently dive into business topics together, I wanted to show as many people as I could how I run my sessions, how I work with clients, how I coach people, etc. 

The response was overwhelming.

Romi Wallach has been the perfect example of how you should be using your branding images.

If you do a whole branding session, use one headshot in your profile, and the rest sit in your Dropbox…..you’re missing out on ROI.

But if you are building/developing a brand, this is one of the perfect ways to use them: to elevate your posting/publishing.

There’s absolutely space for more raw, BTS shots from your cell phone, showing people what’s going on day-to-day. But for more professional platforms and use cases, you should be tapping into this professional portfolio on the regular.

The way Romi is using them adds another chance for people to feel connected to her, right off the bat. And it elevates her publishing to look like an actual magazine article.

A Miami solo attorney recently lost $97,000 to wire fraud.

It started with a normal email thread that included a title agent. A hacker registered a look-alike domain, impersonated the attorney, and sent wiring instructions to the title company. The funds were transferred to a fraudulent account.

Situations like this happen faster than most firms realize. By the time anyone questions the email, the money is already gone.

In this case, the attorney didn’t have cyber or crime coverage in place.
Their E&O carrier declined the claim because the loss involved fraud rather than malpractice. 

The financial hit was significant, and the reputational impact nearly shut down the practice.

I’m sharing this because I see similar exposures all the time, especially with boutique firms handling real estate or client funds. 

If you run a boutique firm, it’s worth asking a simple question:

If a fraudulent wire request came through your firm tomorrow, would your coverage respond?
