This is a very special shoutout today. My good friend Matthew Waggoner, an extremely experienced Physical Therapist, is launching his own business, Reinvention One. 

His goal is to help Athletes and Executives go from pain to performance. Instead of just working with clients until the pain is gone, Matthew provides a full transformational approach, helping people to achieve their highest performance possible, whether on the field or in the boardroom. 

I have PERSONAL experience with his expertise. I was experiencing pain in my shoulder during bench pressing earlier this year. Matt diagnosed the problem and worked with me on developing a personalized workout plan that strengthened muscle groups I didn't even know to target. Within 2 weeks, the pain was completely gone!

I'm going to do another post later on because I was much more involved with this launch than just the photography. But this post is just to let you know that he is open for business and already helping folks hit their peak performance!

A client of mine just sent me this DM:

"Reading your book, used some of the ideas, came up with my most recent LinkedIn post on thankfulness for my 'on mission' family. It has seriously taken off, not sure exactly why. It's not terribly different than a lot of other posts I've written, but I've gone from 100-500 "impressions" and single digit interactions to well over 5000 impressions, 100 profile views, 20 new followers, and a slew of PM's and new connections. 

Trying to figure out if it's the elbow in the curve of steady posting and working the LinkedIn Platform, or if it is something specific about the post that got things going. Would like to duplicate the success and build, appreciate any perspectives that you have. I imagine the primary factor is a really nice head shot ;)"

Here's the essence of my response:

1) Having a more pro headshot definitely makes your profile more noticeable and helps you look more like an expert in your industry and less like a high school yearbook.

2) His recent post that blew up is more relatable to a broader audience of people. He's an incredible doctor, but the majority of his previous posts were so industry focused that it probably didn't connect well with his audience. 

3) This post has a great "hook" to draw people in and encourage them to click the "see more" button in the caption.

4) The "meat" of the post is a great behind the scenes look at his family life, his unique take on "work-life balance", and how the whole family participates in the "mission." Really cool stuff.

5) He ended the post with a great call to action by asking people to share their experience with this topic, and it resulted in a bunch of engagement.

This is what I LOVE to see from readers of my book. It's not just a bunch of theory. It's a practical guide for people/business owners trying to build an impactful brand.

Learn the principles. And then go and DO.

Last week miami heat game reminded of that…

I was at the basketball game surrounded by over a dozen clients and future clients. We were cheering, laughing, talking life, and getting to know each other beyond our professional relationships.

This is exactly how business should feel. At least for me.

Business should be about connection.
About creating experiences together.
About building trust when no one is selling anything. About showing up as people first, professionals second.

Because when you share moments, you build relationships that actually last. And those relationships are what drive everything else: 

Better conversations
Better opportunities
Better outcomes.

Last week at the game it was about community
And that’s the part of business we should all lean into more.

“Poor me.”

It’s the first thought most people have when life gets difficult.

Champions on the other hand, go through hard times and think:

“Perfect. Everyone else who wants to catch me has to go through this same fire… and most won’t make it.”

That’s the mindset shift.

Hard times aren’t punishment … they’re separation.

Hard times expose who’s built for pressure and who folds under it.

When I stopped asking “Why me?” and started “DOING this,” that day I became a threat.

Keep going. Keep doing the work!

The struggle is your advantage. 

The ones chasing you won’t survive the terrain you’re learning to master.

Avoiding uncomfortable conversations 

Is the worst thing you can do…

People don’t need me to pretend the market is perfect. They need me to calmly explain the plan forward and the next few steps to take. 

Most professionals confuse “certainty” with “positivity.”

When things get turbulent, you don’t win trust by pretending everything is fine.

You win trust by being the person who says:

“Here’s what’s happening. Here’s what it means. And here’s what we’re going to do about it.”

That’s real leadership. That’s what keeps loyalty with you for years, not months.

Here are 3 actionable things you can start doing today:

1. Tell the truth early and clearly: I guarantee you, transparency builds confidence faster than comfort. Address challenges upfront, and guide the them to the next step.

2. Follow up before they ask: If you’re updating them only when they call, you’re already behind.
	
3. Teach them one useful concept per meeting:
People feel empowered when they understand the “why,” not just the “what.” Always share with then your plan and your next few steps. Knowledge builds loyalty.

Lead with honesty.
Lead with clarity.
Lead with direction.
Lead with confidence.

That’s how you become the advisor people trust especially when the market isn’t perfect.

I have learned so much this year!
