Senior Software Engineer

Technical lead of an agile team in a cross-functional area responsible for translating complex business needs into elegant software solutions. Designing and developing robust, maintainable and highly scalable cloud-native APIs in a microservice architecture to support digital needs across the company. Implementing a test-first approach and adhering to clean architecture principles, and integrating this in to Jenkins CICD pipelines which were built leveraging knowledge of DevOps principles to optimise the deployment process.
Providing engineering leadership and fostering a culture of collaboration by leading code reviews and introducing paired programming whilst mentoring other members of the team.

Achievements include:
-Spearheading the delivery of a new automation solution for order processing, replacing dozens of legacy applications and enhancing the customers experience whilst reducing operating costs. This orchestration of restful APIs in an event driven architecture was built using a containerized Camunda Java Process engine, deployed on AWS EKS and is highly scalable to withstand a large amount of traffic. 
-Auto-remediation strategies of AWS via Dynatrace, conditional remediation to reduce time to resolve issues by 35%.

Software Engineering Specialist

Software Engineer for backend squads, working initially in the design, development and maintenance of highly scalable, cloud-native restful APIs in a microservice architecture. Led on large project for BT in 2021/22, designing a series of APIs solutions for integration of the new billing system. Led a team of developers to ensure timely delivery. Liaising with external contractors and vendors, supporting test of the solution and the delivery of the project. Extensive experience in SQL/NOSQL, REST and SOAP, streaming and event driven architecture.
Experience in Data engineering role, engaging with various stakeholders (internal and external) to design and deliver KPI tables using Hadoop and Apache Spark. Tables stored on GCP BigQuery, which were then exposed either as parquet files for data science, or as JSON via a generic API. Loading data through AWS Firehose for BT TV ‘recommendations’ Machine Learning algorithm. Paying heed to the 5 V's of data, ensuring the system was performant.
Acting in a scrum master capacity, streamlining the agile processes with an agile coach to increase deliverables and the value of these.
