I am a senior technical leader focused on building 0 to 1 engineering organizations, developing concepts in ambiguous spaces, and driving alignment across teams with competing priorities. I have spent my career turning undefined problems into workable strategies and building the structures that let engineers and researchers experiment and ship novel ideas. With two ML patents, research with Stanford, NVIDIA, and Caltech, and a global audience of 175,000 data professionals, I bring deep technical expertise, R&D leadership, and executive influence to accelerate concept development and innovation at scale.

At Activision, I built and scaled a small research group into a 40+ person cross-functional research organization. The team delivered new approaches to understanding player behavior in partnership with Stanford and NVIDIA, published research, and contributed to Activision being named a Fast Company Most Innovative Companies in 2024. At Databricks, I support executives at major gaming and entertainment studios with AI and data strategy, helping them evaluate early concepts, modernize their platforms, and align global engineering teams around a shared technical direction.

Carly is a data scientist, computational chemist and machine learning engineer. She obtained her M.S. in chemistry from the University of Colorado focusing on computational quantum dynamics. She has authored multiple peer-reviewed publications and holds two non-provisional machine learning patents. 

When she isn't writing about herself in the third person, building mechanical keyboards or neglecting the oxford comma, she works as a public speaker, author and content creator focusing on AI. 

More specifically, she applies Python-based machine learning and best practices in statistical analysis to creatively solve novel problems. This includes harnessing various toolkits to model real-world structured and unstructured data and drive business value to stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
