Should SaaS founders be panicking right now?

Tbh, I'm tired of all the "SaaS is gonna die"
or
"I replaced my 5-person marketing team with Clawdbot" posts.
 
AI won't kill SaaS.
But it definitely changes a lot and maybe some companies will indeed be replaced by "big LLM".
 
Working with B2B SaaS companies only, I thought about it a lot.
Which products will stay, disappear, or even profit?
 
Here's how I think about the future of SaaS in 4 categories:
(Just hypotheses, interested in opposing opinions!)
 
❇️ Enterprise SaaS - probably the safest.

These tools are deeply embedded in how large organizations operate.
Think complex ERPs, compliance software, deep CRM integrations.
Switching costs are high and it's months of migration, retraining, broken workflows.

AI augments these tools and they'll probably profit from building "their own" agents on top of the LLMs.
 

❇️ Single Use Case SaaS — most at risk.

If your product does exactly one thing - transcribes meetings, resizes images, summarizes documents - AI does that now.

The more simple the use case, the easier you can replace the whole use case.
Or vibe code the tool with lovable.

At growably we've just canceled 3 tool subscriptions of that category last month.
 

❇️ Horizontal SaaS - the interesting middle ground.

Tools like project management, CRM, or collaboration software serve everyone. The ones that win will be those that become the AI layer across the stack, not just another tool in it.

Horizontal SaaS needs to own the workflow, not just sit in it.
 
❇️ Platforms & Marketplaces - the special case.

These are fundamentally different.

If the value comes from the network, the data, or the distribution, AI makes you stronger, not weaker.

You have something that can't be replicated with a prompt.
Owning the ecosystem is a moat that compounds over time.
 

Other special case could be SaaS with add-on hardware products.
Also harder to replace with AI...

Bis heute ist nichts aus mir geworden, bin planlos, habe nicht mal einen Beruf. 

Bin deshalb nicht unter der Brücke aber in der Obdachlosigkeit gelandet. 

Ich hab halt keine Ausbildung - kein Studium - nicht ein einziges Zertifikat 

Dafür bin ich einfach zu dumm. 

Ich kann halt nur hübsche Bilder. 

Ich kann halt nur Selbstdarstellerei. 

Ich kann halt nur dealen auf LinkedIn, weshalb mir täglich Menschen ihre Nummer geben 

Ich kann halt nichts, nur Ergebnisse produzieren.

Kann nur 5-stellig pro Kunde.

Permanent getan - gescheitert - zerbrochen, getan - gescheitert - zerbrochen, getan - gescheitert - zerbrochen, getan - gewonnen - gewonnen - gescheitert, gewonnen - gewonnen - gewonnen 

Konsequenz:… immer Kunden … durch Ruhe geheilt … überall Zuhause … 

Puhhh, ich hab einfach so Glück gehabt.

Während du Stunden auf Linkettt Innn verbringst, ohne Ergebnis 

Komm ich nur online für: 

„Hier ist meine Nummer: 01.….“

„Ich lese jeden deiner Posts - bitte nicht aufhören“

„Ich verfolge deine Geschichte schon seit Längerem und bin immer wieder beeindruckt.“ 

„Wir sind interessiert daran, mit dir zu arbeiten. Ist ein Teams-Meeting möglich?“ 

„Danke für den heutigen Post. Kann immer einiges von dir „mitnehmen“.“ 

„Wenn jemand wie du das schafft, dann schaffe ich das auch“

„Auf jeden Fall lese ich jeden Tag deine Posts, keiner schreibt so, feier deine Provokation so…“  

"Heftige Post - sehr provokant, aber genau auf den Punkt.“

Wie du aussiehst, beeinflusst, wie viel Geld du verdienst

Diese Realität kannst du jetzt ablehnen, diskutieren oder moralisch bewerten.
 Aber das ändert nicht, wie Menschen entscheiden.   Noch bevor du ein einziges Wort sprichst, hast du bereits kommuniziert.
 Durch deine Haltung

Durch die Konsequenz, mit der du dich zeigst.

Menschen reagieren nicht zuerst auf Kompetenz.

Sie reagieren auf Präsenz.

Auf deine sichtbare Selbstachtung.   Auf Energie und das meine ich nicht spirituell.  
Die Welt hört denen zu, die aussehen, als würden sie sich selbst ernst nehmen.

Nicht wegen hübsch für andere.

Sondern voller Absicht für sich selbst.

Wie stark du auftrittst - sagt aus, wie klar du bist.
 Wie du deinen Körper behandelst - sagt aus, wie viel Respekt du erwartest.  
Wie konsistent du auftrittst, entscheidet - ob man dir Kompetenz zutraut.

Dein Körper öffnet Türen, lange bevor Fähigkeiten überhaupt geprüft werden.

Die Menschen, die das verstanden haben, diskutieren nicht darüber.   Sie nutzen es einfach.
