In the past we used to advertise broad messages to broad audiences on billboards and newspaper spreads but now, thanks to the advent of PPC (pay-per-click) and social advertising, we’re able to advertise specific messages to specific audiences to achieve a much greater impact - which is where I come in. I put brands and businesses directly in front of their target audience with highly targeted paid advertising campaigns on platforms such as Google, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Snapchat in order to drive sales and leads.

I’m a super ambitious, motivated and dedicated business leader passionate about all things business and marketing. I get a kick out of problem solving, thinking outside the box, learning new things and creating value for businesses. I’m also an advocate for remote working, a healthier planet and a happy balance.

Whilst I have a knowledge and interest in all things marketing, I chose to specialise in PPC advertising because I see it as The Business End of Digital Marketing. So I founded Vagabond Digital to help businesses and brands put their products and services directly in front of their target audience. We use a combination of automation and brain power to successfully drive sales and leads into businesses of all sectors. We’re a little different in that we’re a remote business, which means we have neither office locations nor restrictions. In 2026, anyone still preaching that 'broad targeting on Meta is the way to go,' is giving the advertising equivalent of telling people if they jump in the sea, they'll get wet.

Everyone knows it. Brands have read this 50+ times in the last 2 years on here alone. Heck, I've probably mentioned this at least ten times myself.

Nowadays, broad targeting is the baseline. It's not an edge or anything kind of revolutionary strategy.

But if everyone is running Broad, why are some agencies scaling to thousands/tens of thousands a day while others are hitting a plateau and watching their CPAs bleed out?

The answer is in Meta’s latest report from a few weeks ago: 'Demystifying Creative Diversification.' 

In it, Meta confirms that if your creative lacks diversity, your 'Broad' audience is actually just a tiny, expensive sliver of the market. Here are the top 4 takeaways:

1. Stop Tweaking, Start Transforming
Meta is explicit: subtle tweaks don't count. In the 2026 auction, the system categorizes ads by their Message Architecture.
The Tweak: Changing "Buy Now" to "Shop Now." (Result: Zero new audience reach).
The Transformation: Moving from a "Problem/Solution" script to a "Founder Story" or a "Comparison Chart."
The 2026 Rule: If the vibe of the ad hasn't changed, the audience won't either.

2. Segmenting by Motivation, Not Demographics
We used to segment by age/gender. Now, we segment by Psychological Triggers. 

The Meta report highlights the "Emotional vs. Functional" split.
Ad A: Focuses on the status of owning the product (Emotional).
Ad B: Focuses on the time-saving specs (Functional).
Ad C: Focuses on the sustainability (Value-based). By running these three distinct angles, you aren't split testing the old way, you are simultaneously harvesting three different personality types within the same Broad audience.

However, reality will often slap you in the face. For a candle brand we started working with recently, we spent a lot of time crafting 'Sensory' and 'Home starter kit' angles and copy to test against more blunt offer/price-led messaging. Result: Meta spends 90% of the budget on the price angle, 9% on Sensory and next to nothing on the Home one 😅 ...but at least CPA's are good

3. Fatigue is a Style Problem, Not a Frequency Problem
When your CPA's rise, don't look at frequency by default. Look at creative style saturation. If all your top spenders are UGC and performance is dropping off across them all, the "UGC-responsive" part of your audience is likely fatigued. They have probably seen one or a hundred too many 'I'm literally obsessed with X product from Y brand!' hooks.

To fix it, you don't need to throw more UGC against the wall; you need more diversity in static images or graphics.

The Bottom Line: Creative Diversification is about the only manual lever we have left.

If you aren't feeding the machine radically different looks, feels, and stories, you’re just paying for the same 10,000 people to see your ad over and over again.
