Last year, I asked the best GTM Engineer in the world a simple question.

→ Blocked every Sunday for 3-hour n8n power sessions.

→ Blocked off the 8am to 10am time in my diary for building n8n flows 3 days per week.

I usually delete 99% of my inbox.

But these 2 cold emails took my money.

Last year I bought from 2 completely cold emails.

→ No warm intro.

→ No referral.

→ No prior relationship.

Just good execution.

Here they are 👇

1️⃣ Video Editor

Why I replied:

- Name dropped a competitor in my niche
- Social proof of working for a competitor’s YouTube channel
- Calls out the discrepancy in effort (190+ videos) and outcome (1.6k subscribers)
- One low-friction CTA

He didn’t ask for a 30-minute call.

He offered to edit one video for free.

- Low risk.
- Clear value.
- Fast proof.

→ I replied.
→ Had a killer video edited for free (saw instant value)
→ Ended up becoming a paying client

2️⃣ Thumbnail Designer

This one was clever.

Instead of pitching “design services”...

In the follow up email he redesigned one of my existing thumbnails and showed me the before/after.

No pitch deck.

No “let’s hop on a call.”

Just:

“I already did the work.”

I bought.

He has now gone on to edit $500+ worth of thumbnails.

PS: 
I recently realized that different emails get different people to buy.

Some email recipients love to receive personalized emails.

Some email recipients only buy if the initial email is risk-free and offers a killer lead magnet.

There’s no silver-bullet to it, you need to try different email styles before seeing what sticks.

Clay just changed their pricing.

And honestly…

I think power users are going to hate it.

Here’s what actually changed 👇

Clay is now separating data credits and actions.

Meaning:

- Data = company / people / job data
- Actions = enrichments, AI tasks, workflows, etc.

At the same time they say:

→ Data prices reduced by 50–90%

→ Advanced features now available on $495/month plan

→ CRM integrations included in the $495/month plan

On paper this sounds great.

Especially for startups that want to test Clay and plug it into their CRM.

But here’s the catch.

For power users running serious volumes…

Clay data is still 30–45% more expensive than buying data directly.

Example:

I’m still keeping my clients on providers like:

→ BetterContact

→ Prospeo

→ Other external data vendors

(Because we get ~30-45% discounts with most of these providers if we use them directly)

Because it’s cheaper than routing everything through Clay.

Another big change:

The HTTP API connection is now locked behind the $495/month plan.

Which is a huge downside.

Anyone using Clay heavily with external tools using the HTTP API basically has no choice but to upgrade now.

And there’s one more problem most people haven’t realised yet…

The actions limits.

These will become a massive bottleneck.

Meaning many people will start doing workflows outside Clay.

Instead of:

Clay → enrichment → AI → personalisation → outreach

You’ll see workflows shift to:

Code / Cursor / other tools → then import only the final enriched data into Clay.

That changes Clay from being the full GTM engine into more of a data layer.

And if that happens…

Clay suddenly becomes easier to replace with:

- custom scripts
- tools like Cursor
- other enrichment platforms

Personally this pricing change forces me to:

→ Adapt how we structure Clay systems for clients

→ Completely revamp the Unlock Clay course content so that it reflects how I’m adapting to Clay’s pricing change

My honest take?

For the bigger companies it might be better as they are no longer being charged an 80% premium on every enrichment (but still are being charged an extra 30% lol).

For power users it’s worse.

And it also makes Clay a much harder entry point for:

- freelancers
- smaller agencies
- people trying to break into GTM Engineering.

My 'No-Work Weekend' rule is officially dead.

For the last year, I was the “boundaries” guy.

Monday to Friday.

Start at 8am.

Hard stop no later than 6pm ish.

~45 hour weeks.

That was the sweet spot.

Balanced. 

At times felt like it was too chilled out.

But the last few months?

That changed.

- Unlock Clay grew faster than I expected.

- We picked up clients in the Pacific time zone in 🇺🇸 (late nights working now).

- Hundreds of students asking genuinely great (and very random) questions inside of Unlock Clay.

- And I decided to build a new automations course (shameless plug btw - comment “automations” to join the waitlist .)

So the 45-hour weeks quietly became 60.

Lately, I’ve added “n8n Power Hours” every Sunday:

→ 2-3 hours

→ 1 automation scoped in advance

→ Built from scratch live with Moiz Irfan

→ Raw build, start to finish.

The goal?

To become as dangerous in n8n as I am in Clay.

Naturally, when people hear I’m spending Sundays working, the question comes:

“Why? Don’t you have better things to do?”

Here’s what I’ve realized about work-life balance so far:

You’ll always have two loud groups online.

On one side, you’ve got people like David Goggins and Alex Hormozi saying

“Work like hell. I worked 100-hour weeks for years. That’s how you get ahead.” 

And honestly?

They’re right.

On the other side, I’ve got Tim Ferriss and other self-help gurus telling you to…

“Protect your energy. Don’t work till too late. Don’t burn out. Remember to do your 4-7-8 breathing meditation after shouting affirmations into the mirror at 6am.”

If you ask me?

They are not wrong either.

The reality though?

The mistake is thinking one side is universally correct.

There are seasons where 40-hour weeks are perfect.

And there are seasons where you lean in harder because you CHOSE to build something.

I’m not preaching hustle culture.

I’m not rejecting balance either.

I just think when you run your own business…

The upside and the sacrifice come as a package deal.

Some seasons are for maintaining.

Some are for building.

Last year, I was maintaining.

Right now?

I’m building and want to double my income by the end of the year - without inflating prices or lowering the quality of B2B Boosted, Unlock Clay or the 1-on-1 consulting services that i provide.

And that will naturally require sacrifices and doing silly things like working on Sundays.

Is it just me who finds it hard to explain to strangers why I choose to spend my weekend working?

Local businesses are impossible to find in traditional B2B databases.

I found a way around it using AI (I’m giving the prompt away free):
​
- Apollo can't find them.
- Prospeo V2 can't find them.
- Crap, even Outscraper draws a blank.
​
We have a client selling into medical practices and needed to source these brick-and-mortar leads fast.
​
The problem here…
​
Medical practices don't show up in B2B databases the same way a SaaS company would. 
​
They're not on Crunchbase, they BARELY update LinkedIn, and most databases don't categorize them properly.
​
So we stopped crying and trying to "enrich" our way out of it.
​
Instead, we used ChatGPT's deep research mode with one prompt… and it pulled exactly what we needed. 
​
- Niche databases. 
- Regional medical directories. 
- State licensing boards. 
- Specialty associations. 
​
ALL the unconventional sources that actually have accurate, up-to-date brick-and-mortar data.
​
What took us days to manually Google now takes 5 minutes.
​
And the quality is better than ANYTHING Apollo or Prospeo could scrape because these sources are built specifically for medical practices. 
​
(not your standard B2B data aggregation)
​
If you're targeting brick-and-mortar businesses (medical, dental, vet clinics, physical therapy, salons, gyms, restaurants), traditional lead databases will let you down. 
​
They're built for tech companies and enterprise buyers.

Everyone says they need a GTM Engineer in 2026.

Almost no one knows what that actually means.

Most people think:

"more AI steps = higher costs, nothing I can do”

…but that’s not true.

Because when you first send the company data to the AI for, let’s say ICP fit check, you’re paying full price (which is okay) then when you send THE SAME company data to the AI for person fit check, you’re paying full price AGAIN (which is not okay).

Reply rates were bad. Around 3%.

And these weren’t random cold leads - they signed up themselves, and played around with the product.

And still… only 3% replied.

So I started thinking:

Maybe it’s not that most people hate those messages.
Maybe they just hate messages that sound automated.

So I stripped everything away and now send something like this:
“Hey, saw you tried BetterContact, is it working like you expected it to?”

That’s it. On average, almost every third person replies.

Outbound isn’t broken. We’ve just optimized it so hard… that we removed the human touch.

The API is a few days away from being publicly released, and the feedback from beta testers has been great so far (shoot me a quick DM if you want to play around with it)

$2.5M ARR outbound agency founder reached out. They're doing 20.000 cold calls/month, averaging a 56% enrichment rate. I thought 'solid', until we ran the math:

1. Using Apollo & Lusha, they average 56% match rate
2. Their costs average $0.36/enriched number
3. BUT, 32% end up being landline, VoIP, or invalid
4. Their dial to connect rate is 4% 
5. They make 20.000 cold calls/month
6. Turns out, they're wasting ~$2,300/month on invalid numbers

We quickly went from 'solid' (56% match rate, $0.36/number) to 'ouch' (4% connect rate, $9/conversation).

Now it was clear why this founder reached out, so we ran the same sample list through BetterContact and got:

✅ 71% match rate
✅ 2.8x higher connect rates
✅ Only 7% wrong numbers

Redoing the maths, that’s $2.5/conversation, meaning a 75% cost decrease.

PS. We haven’t even factored in the hours his SDRs are burning by dialing dead numbers. At the very least, that's in the mid-/high 4 digits, every month.

8 weeks ago, we launched the first Waterfall Lead Finder - and immediately realized building the best one in the market is way harder than we initially thought.

Here’s what’s working - and what still needs *serious* improvement:

(+) 9/10 times we hear: “we found x% more AND fresher contacts with you vs. what we currently use”

(+) We got highly-requested filters such as max. people/company, skills, and keywords to finally work

(+) Some competitors suddenly also launched a waterfall lead finder now

(+) We did a complete UI overhaul that people seem to really like

(+) We launched an API which is currently being implemented in some of the biggest GTM platforms

But building a best-in-class lead finder is hard - we are currently struggling with things we didn’t expect were *that* hard to get right: 

(-) Job title matching → identifying real synonyms (e.g. that “Managing Director” in the UK usually equals “CEO” in the US - but not “Director” in the US), which gets tricky fast across countries and languages.

(-) Industry standardization → deciding how broad is too broad (e.g. if someone types “Finance”, should we expand it to “FinTech”, “Private Equity”, “Asset Management" etc., or keep it narrow and risk them missing half their market?)

(-) Some filters are hard to implement, such as headcount growth/leads per department etc. (though we’re making good progress there)

(-) Determining someone’s main, decision-making role — instead of surfacing a side project or secondary title first

There is still a lot of work to be done, so more than keen on every additional feedback!

The last few weeks have been wild since we released our waterfall lead finder at BetterContact. It’s already getting integrated into some of the biggest GTM tools - and users are building some seriously cool plays with it.

Here are a few of them: 

(1) The 60-Second Website Visitor Play

One team identifies anonymous website visitors, pipes the company domain into our API, pulls the Head of Sales, enriches the mobile… and calls within 60 seconds.

They showed me their conversion rates and they are insane.

(2) The “Waterfall on Top of a Waterfall” Play

Another team built a cascade of job searches with our lead finder. 

For example: if no CRO is found, they automatically look for a VP RevOps. If none, a RevOps Manager, and so on.

They don’t accept “no result", but keep going until someone relevant shows up.

(3) The Conference Pre-Booking Play

One team collects attendee company names before a conference, runs the domains through the lead finder, pulls the most likely decision-maker… and emails them before the event.

They don’t even know who’s attending - they make a smart guess and usually get forwarded to the right person.

By day one, meetings are already booked.

Pre-event pipeline > booth roulette.

“It’s safe to say you guys are the reason I’m hitting my quotas” has been one of the nicest messages I got this year.

The guy who sent me this is a sales rep at a big software company.

And they just signed a big contract with a legacy data provider.

But he’s not even really using it, and neither is half his team.

Instead, they’re running their prospects through BetterContact to get better mobile numbers and actually connect.

Hearing things like that genuinely means a lot to me.

Because behind every “connect rate” or “hit rate” metric… there’s a real person trying to hit targets, earn commission, and build a career.

If we can make that even a little easier - that’s all we're looking for.
