Recruiting, developing, coaching and assisting Sales Engineers to deliver best in class solutions for highly complex WAN/LAN environments. Involved in the sales cycle from beginning to end, delivering presentations to audiences including C-Level decision makers, discussing customer challenges and developing business solutions to enhance capabilities of client networks and communications. I use performance based goals to coach and develop the team, while providing ongoing education on complex technologies and products.

Sales Engineering Senior Manager

Pre-sales engineer for National and Strategic accounts responsible for the design of complex WAN and voice solutions, including converged services such as MPLS, VPLS. Enterprise SIP, and traditional private line, SONET and wavelength services.. I also leverage managed services utilizing the broad list of IP based products, such as Hosted Security, Hosted PBX and Content Delivery, to form solutions for the customer's voice and data needs. I am involved from pre-sales through implementation, responsible for ensuring the design meets the customer's expectations. I use a consultative sales approach, and continue working with customers to leverage technology to enhance their business flows and drive down expenses.

Basement Productions, Inc. (known as "Basementia" to my friends) is a multimedia production and marketing company, and the parent company of all my various endeavors.  Literary publication, music production, website development, and more.

As of November 2023 the company has published 11 of my own full-length books (4 of those under a pen name) and 2 shorter works.  Notable titles include "Principles for a Self-Directed Society" (political philosophy, 2008),  "The Battle of Hillsboro" (action-adventure, 2009, my most popular book to date), "impressions" (2020, a retrospective collection of song lyrics and other verses composed over the course of some thirty years), and "Choosing Change" (as Titus Naso, a collection of inspirational "lockdown poetry" released in 2023).  The company has also published 2 titles on behalf of other authors, one of which ("Calliope in Time" by Holly St. Clair) is still available online.  Upcoming: self-help!

The company has produced and released several musical albums: including "Barnlife" (original release 2005, 27 songs on 2 CDs), "This One" (2007, 11 songs), "Flumergex Emerges" (2011, 20 songs) and "Undercover Operations in the Name of JAST" (2006, 11 songs performed by my band, Operation J, with Tom "The Count" Morgan, "Screemin" Steve Hovey, and Andy "Androcles" Hoke).  I'm currently working on re-releasing much of this material for the digital era; and that process will also eventually include completing the production of several dozen more original songs that have never before been released.  In 2007, produced hold music with voiceover for a client.  Presently interested in opportunities for music licensing and soundtrack composition for film and television.

From 2007 through early 2023, the company was primarily focused on website development & marketing services; but I'm currently more interested in pursuing opportunities in publishing, music production, and related creative fields, potentially including the film industry.

Information from multiple sources had to be referenced and combined into the daily Call Sheet with schedules for cast and crew members, as well as production notes for the scenes we would be filming each day. Helped to prepare SAG-AFTRA time sheet reports for cast members, as well as production reports for internal use. Conveyed messages, fetched items and "the talent" as needed. But the most fun part was when I had an opportunity to work directly with the film crew and call out, "Roll sound! Roll camera! Rolling rolling!" A very memorable experience.

I'm an author and multimedia producer with a message:

Choosing to be the best version of yourself is a choice you make in the moment, each moment.  

You have the power!  It is up to you to learn how to exercise it.

My new self-help book, "Start Today: Be Awesome. Be You." advises the reader to return often to first principles and review the basics: your core values, your sense of purpose, and your focus on the goodness of life.  Throughout the book, self-help is seen as a deeply meaningful personal philosophy: an extension of the wisdom of ages, as expressed in the texts of major world religions.

My other writing has explored a variety of themes and subjects, from political philosophy to science fiction and more.  Beyond books, I'm best known for my work as a music teacher (first for a year overseas forever ago, and now as a private instructor locally) and a small business owner (I was in web development and marketing for about a decade and a half), a runner, a producer, and a performer, as well as stints as a member of a movie crew and as a local political candidate.  I live in rural Oregon with my wife of 19 years and our delightfully ferocious children.

My new album, "Broken Pieces," under the band name Flumergex ("merge within a state of flux") is available on all major streaming and download platforms.  This album is like downtempo lo-fi grunge trip-hop with some blues influences.  The songs include a cover of the much-loved classic "The Sounds of Silence," and the upcoming original single, "I Play a Hero on TV."  

Upcoming music projects include an album of holiday music, and a deep dive down the rabbit hole of synthesizers and sequencers.  

Last summer I got some friends together and produced a low-budget comic short film that's currently in post-production, so watch for that, probably in 2025.
