This Thanksgiving hit a little different.

On March 2nd, my husband had an aortic dissection and almost died.

4 surgeries. 5 stents. 2 coils. A little over 2 full months in the hospital on and off across 7 months.

There’s a moment every CEO hides from the world. It’s not the layoffs. Though those are the worst 

Not the board meetings. Though they can sometimes get intense 

Not the near-death quarters. I gone through those too and it was not fun

It’s the moment late at night , when they send the last slack, sent their last email to put out a fire, load all the EBIDTA dashboards and then they ask themselves 

“Is this all there is?
Is this all I’m sacrificing my life for?”

They never admit it out loud (except maybe to their therapist if they have one) because they are not supposed to lose faith. They are supposed to have it all together 

They are supposed to motivate others. And some days they really feel that energy and drive. But many days they don’t 

And no one knows 

Because they are normally the ones who get blamed for everything so they don’t even dare to complain . How dare they?

I can already hear “Alina they don’t even deserve pity, they are the cause of all our troubles. and they make the big bucks” 

But I have some good news. I’m not here for you to pity the CEOs . Quite the opposite 

I’m here with some thoughts on how to change these systems that are flawed. That are burning out people at work. That are burning out CEOs with them

And would love some thoughts from those who might be passionate about trying to figure out how to change the corporate systems as well  . Because I don’t think we can make this work unless we put all our heads together for all the right tweaks

why i like Nathan Latka (even though some of you don't) 

Some of you might not like that he’s too loud 
He asks for comments on his post 
He sends a million texts 
He asks a gazillion dollars to meet him at events 

People think that’s too loud 
I say.... that’s not enough 

Here’s why 

All his content is 🔥

He is very mindful of the value he provides with his data and product 
He’s very mindful of his network 
He helps amplify all founders that do great things 
I always find value in what he shares 
I find that he helps the ecosystem grow together 

For example:
He funded Joel Ohman at Exercise.com at $50k of MRR in 2021 via his fund Founderpath
He funded Joel 19 more times totalling $3.5m
Joel bootstrapped using Nathan's money and got "massive" personal liquidity event last week when he exited

He brings value to everyone he meets 

I wish he just had capacity to do more. To help even more entrepreneurs 

So no , not loud. Just not enough

There's one luxury that i have that I cherish more than anything else in my possession.  The ability to work only on things that I truly enjoy 

It's not everyone's reality and I'm extremely aware of it 

But because of AI we are getting closer and closer to it 

We can finally work on making crazy ideas happen 
Things that have been in our mind for a long time  
Things that we might never thought possible 
Things that have been calling us for a long time but have been put on the back burner 

It might not be a popular take but this year I'm thankful that AI is getting people to work more on things that bring them joy
