My role as Marketing Executive in Petplan's Retention Marketing team was to ensure we delivered campaigns that would lead to improved retention rates for our insurance products (B2C).

My responsibilities included the management of a range of DM campaigns (offline and online), the customer magazine (ABC circulation of 560,000) and the customer sections on the website. This involved coordination of a range of stakeholders such as Customer Services, IT and Legal as well as external agencies (publisher, digital, creative), printers and mailing houses.  

I was key in revising communication at renewal to improve retention rates and consistent tone of voice. I also set up and managed a monthly electronic newsletter going out to approx 90,000 customers, which included copywriting, image sourcing and data management.

In parallel with my day job and evening studies at the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM), I was volunteering my time to support the Central London Team Leader at the CIM with ideas and relevant topics for events during the year for its members and in some cases also setting them up.

On my own initiative I set up a Digital Event with a panel of experts from companies such as Sony and RBS, discussing and answering questions on SEO, Social Networking and E-Marketing. The event was sold out, and got such excellent feedback that a follow up was requested.

My responsibilities included account management of existing clients as well as generating new clients through market research (B2B).

This included taking down briefs from customers and prospects, writing proposals as well as project managing the inhouse team and external parties such as printers, photographers and mailing houses. Projects stretched across the whole marketing mix including rebranding, DM, advertising, website production, email campaigns, brochures, invites etc.

Despite a tough market I managed to maintain previous year’s sales results, bring in 6 new clients, and build stronger relationships with existing clients.
