Look closely at the young, almost shy, and completely innocent face in the attached video. 
That is Sanju samson in early 2016 !
Back then, as part of marketing for Asianet Broadband, we were looking for a brand ambassador. We didn't chase the most established, heavily media-trained stars in Indian cricket. We signed a 21-year-old kid with a quiet demeanor, an undeniable spark.
But there was a deeper "Why" behind this choice: Authenticity. 
Asianet Broadband’s heart and major play have always been in Kerala, with headquarters proudly rooted in Thiruvananthapuram. Sanju wasn't just a promising cricketer, he was a Malayali. A home boy so to speak . He wasn't just a face to slap on a billboard, he was born from the exact same soil as the company. We weren't just betting on a cricket prospect ,we were betting on our own.
Watching this 2016 ad today, exactly a decade later, the parallel between Sanju’s 10-year journey and the evolution of the broadband is a masterclass in playing the long game.
The Evolution of the Player: Look at the fresh-faced kid in that ad. Now, look at the seasoned leader who is a T20 World Cup Champion. Over the last 10 years, Sanju didn't just age; he evolved. He weathered the storms of being dropped, faced immense external scrutiny, and transformed from a quiet local prospect into the emotionally intelligent captain of the Rajasthan Royals and a champion on the global stage. He answered his critics not with noise, but with undeniable, quiet resilience.
The Evolution of the Connection: Think back to 2016. A broadband connection offering speeds of 1 Mbps with a 30GB monthly data limit was considered the absolute "in thing." It was a luxury. Today? 
The mobile phone in your pocket pulls multiples of that speed in seconds, and fiber broadband pushes limitless gigabits. It has evolved from a background utility to the central nervous system of our modern economy, seamlessly powering the high-definition live streaming of the very World Cup matches Sanju now dominates.
Both the young ananthapuri boy in the ad and our baseline internet speeds went from "just scratching the surface of their potential" to "absolute, high-performance necessities."
Great things take time. But spotting greatness early takes vision.
I want to publicly thank the leaders at Asianet Broadband who saw the big picture a decade ago specifically Moni VS ,@Sankaranarayana & of course Viren Raheja. Thank you for trusting a bold strategy, valuing authentic local roots, and believing in a hometown kid destined for the world stage. Jayram Menon you were always there in all these efforts.

 A moving bus recently caught fire in Ottapalam, a small town in Keral, India. In just 60 seconds, the local community provided a blueprint for what true teamwork and crisis management look like in the real world:

​10 Seconds: A delivery boy rushed towards the door and forced it to open, and orderly evacuation begins.

​30 Seconds: Before the flames can spread, an auto driver arrives, not with a smartphone to record a "viral reel," but with a fire extinguisher which was there in his auto.

​35 Seconds: 3 to 4 more citizens join in with extinguishers, acting as a decentralized, rapid-response team.

​50 Seconds: Every passenger is off the bus. Safe. Unharmed.

​60 Seconds: The fire is neutralized.

💡 The Takeaways for Professionals.

​Ownership: When everyone waits for "someone else" to act, disasters happen. Taking immediate ownership saves lives (and businesses).

​Timely Response: In a crisis, a "good" plan executed immediately is better than a "perfect" plan executed too late.

​Civic Sense: True community is built when we prioritize the safety of the collective over our own convenience.

I have been asked more times than I can remember, "Are you from South India?". And told more times than I can recall, "You have a South Indian accent". This was obviously more pronounced while I was working in Delhi, and during my travels to the North. Not derisively, just as a casual observation. So, this new Axis Bank ad campaign (agency: Curativity), released on February 21st (International Mother Language Day) hits particularly close! 

The narrative is pretty direct, but the idea is brilliant! Instead of focusing on actual mother tongues/languages, it shifts the focus on our accents. Mine is Tanglish - Tamil + English :) I haven't bothered changing it at all - I never try to 'sound' different in my English and just continue speaking the way I am, as long as the other person can understand what I am saying.

India is full of diverse English accents, just like there are many variants even outside India. But I loved the idea of acknowledging Indian English accents and asking people to truly own them without bothering about how it sounds to others, particularly within India. Outside India is a different story, I suppose. 

What's also good to see is Axis Bank continuing on their "Dil Se Open" philosophy and the "Come As You Are" charter with so many films, after already having done similar ad films on LGBTQIA+ initiatives, Indian sign language, among others.

It's a funny, different aside that while in college in Salem, I have been asked more times than I can count, owing to my skin color, "Settu Paiyana Nee?", where 'Settu' or 'Seth' is Tamil/Salem-lingo for 'North Indian' 😆

On one hand, I feel really bad for them because Meta support is probably top five worst customer supports ever and they'll likely never get their account back

On the other hand, you gave a 3 week old Ai bot riddled with known security risks that went a little rogue full access to your Facebook account....
