The best person to write your LLM eval rubrics probably isn't an engineer. It’s the domain expert. 

In healthcare AI, only a clinician can catch a wrong drug recommendation. In fintech, only a risk analyst can flag a bad portfolio letter.

Engineers build the infrastructure. Domain experts define what “correct” actually looks like. If rubrics are written entirely by engineers, you’re grading the wrong thing.

Arsh Shah Dilbagi addresses this head-on in his blog and in his Stanford CS 224G YouTube lecture. He covers one of the most underappreciated arguments in enterprise AI right now. Here's what they cover:

• Why must rubric ownership shift to domain experts as AI embeds into critical workflows?
• How to design rubrics from product outcomes, not stylistic preferences?
• What happens when rubrics drift from the real input distribution?
• Real examples from healthcare and fintech deployments at scale. 

The people who know what a wrong output costs - clinically, legally, financially - need to own the criteria. Not review it. Own it.
