but was terrified to talk to my first CEO client

I remember when I left my corporate job in 2017, I thought the fear would end once I landed my first client.

Then I got the client and a new fear showed up.

“What if I can’t deliver?”

Then came scaling, building a team, raising my prices, and with every level… another fear.

I quickly learned courage isn’t the absence of fear, it’s deciding to move anyway.

The fear NEVER disappears, it just becomes the background noise to your growth.

So if you’re waiting to feel ready before you take that next step, you’ll be waiting forever.

You don’t need more confidence, you need momentum.

Start before you feel ready, do it scared.

After 8 years, here are 7 lessons I learned to create consultancy offers that sell for 5-6 figures:

1. Stop starting with your skills - Start with your client’s pain points. Every great offer begins with: “What’s costing them money right now?”

2. Talk to real buyers, not just friends - Validation isn’t asking for opinions. It’s asking decision makers what they’ve already tried (and why it didn’t work).

3. Name the outcome, not the activity - “LinkedIn lead gen” sounds like work. “Book 5 qualified calls a week with corporate decision makers” sounds like ROI.

4. Don’t build the whole offer before testing - Sell the outcome first, then build the system after someone says yes. That’s how you avoid overthinking and wasting months in prep mode.

5. Every phase of your offer should solve a specific problem - If you can’t map a clear before and after for each step, it’s fluff, cut it.

6. Ask this on every sales call - “What’s most urgent to fix first?”. That’s how you prioritize and customize without reinventing your program every time.

7. Keep your offer sentence simple - “I help [who] achieve [result] without [big frustration].” If you can’t explain it in one breath, it’s not clear enough.

Save this for later, you’ll thank yourself when your next offer lands easier than ever!

1. Playing the "I can help everyone" card

STOP it. 

When you try to solve every problem, you solve none well.

Nobody cares you worked at McKinsey. 

They care if you can fix their operational costs. 

Stop listing credentials, start solving problems.

3. Building offers in your head

4. The hourly trap

Trading time for money is employee thinking.

5. Competing instead of creating

Everyone's fighting over the same generic consulting gigs while specialized problems go unsolved. 

There's zero competition when you're the only one who does what you do.

The difference between $5k and $100k isn't your expertise.

It's your positioning.

Enterprise buyers don't have time for that.

Make the customer journey stupid simple.

Assessment first. Low commitment. $5K-$25K to prove you understand their problem.

Roadmap second. Show them exactly what you'll do, how long it takes, what outcomes are.

Implementation third. Now they have proof you know what you're talking about.

This is how Dominique landed $120K and Ron landed $425K.

They didn't ask for six figures up front. 

They made it easy to say yes to step one.

When you make the first step small and the value obvious, ghosting stops.

You thought you had a great call.

"Let me think about it and get back to you."

You just need conversations!

Here are 3 things you can do again and again to validate (and refine) your offer fast:

1. Talk to your ideal clients

Most consultants test their ideas with other consultants.

Big mistake.

You don’t need opinions, you need data.

→ Ask decision makers what’s breaking right now.
→ Listen for the business impact behind the pain.
→ Group their problems into 3–4 categories that’s your offer foundation.

When you listen at that level, you’re no longer guessing.

You’re building from their world, not yours.

2. Turn your calls into validation labs.

Every discovery call is an opportunity to test your offer live.

→ Present each phase of your program as the solution to one of their challenges.
→ Ask which part feels most urgent to fix first.
→ Refine how you communicate your value based on their reactions.

You’ll walk away knowing exactly what lands and what confuses.

That’s real time validation no guessing, no surveys, no fluff.

3. Share what you’re learning (openly).

Most consultants hide the “in progress” phase. Don’t.

→ Talk about patterns you’re seeing in your conversations.
→ Share how you’re adjusting your offer based on client feedback.
→ Let your audience watch your thinking evolve.

That transparency builds trust and gives you feedback loops at scale.

That’s it.

You don’t need to overthink validation.
