I don’t believe that anymore.

5:30 a.m. practices. 
Shuttle runs in the early bird mornings.
A hyperactive kid who couldn't sit still in class.

Every other adult in my life was trying to fix me.

It also created the clearest path to pipeline we've ever had.

Here's what actually happened:
- LinkedIn replaced 12 separate algorithms with one AI system.
- 150 billion parameters.
- It reads everything.

Your posts.
Your profile.
Your engagement patterns.
Your conversion behavior.

Old system rewarded volume and virality.
New system rewards clarity and conversion.

This is good news if you're willing to adapt.

Most founders are still optimizing for 2025:
- Generic hooks for maximum reach.
- Broad topics to appeal to everyone.
- Celebrating likes that lead nowhere.

Meanwhile, a smaller group figured out the new rules.
They're getting less engagement and more pipeline.

Here's what the new algorithm actually rewards:

1. Clarity beats cleverness.
Your profile tells the algorithm who sees your content.
Specific headline = specific audience = actual buyers.

2. Hooks carry 80% of the weight.
First 2 sentences get 3-5x more processing.
Lead with the insight. The buildup earns nothing.
(Ogilvy was right afterall!) 

3. Saves beat likes 5 to 1.
Saves signal "I need this later."
That's buying intent.
Frameworks get saved. Hot takes get forgotten.

4. Comment threads beat comment counts.
The algorithm measures discussion depth.
10 people talking to each other beats 50 "Great post!" replies.

5. Lane consistency builds trust.
Pick 2-3 topics. Stay there 90 days.
The algorithm learns who you serve.
Then it finds more of them.

Give time, time. 

The opportunity has never been clearer.

Stop optimizing for applause.
Build the system that converts.

Systems scale. Humans don't.

I manifested this life 18 years ago.

Not exactly this moment.

My daughter is sitting on my lap with a low-grade fever while I work from home.. for myself.

But the vision? 
A family. A peaceful home. A healthy body. Working for myself. Making money on the internet… in our pjs.

That started August 21, 2008.

I took my first real job amid the financial crash. 
The alarm hit at 4:40 a.m. 
I had to drive 113 miles to a hospital before a patient's surgery.

I tiptoed past my roommate snoring on the couch. 
He'd been out dancing the night before. 
I couldn't go.

4:40 a.m. doesn't care about your social life.

Hindsight is 20/20.

But in the moment? 
Lonely. 
Dark. 
Painful.

I traded my 20s for that alarm.

Every. Single. Time.

My friends lived theirs. I chose the long drive over the late night. The vision over the moment.

I'll never regret that decision.

Because right now, my daughter is on my lap.
She's got a fever.
And I'm not driving 100 miles to a hospital.

I'm home.

The sacrifice wasn't the hard part.

Trusting the vision when no one else could see it — that was the hard part.

If you're in that season right now, keep going.

The alarm is worth answering.

The bamboo tree does nothing for 1,000 days.

Then shoots up 9 feet in a week.

I think about this every time a founder or leader calls me frustrated.

"Matt, we built the system. It's been 60 days. Pipeline hasn't moved."

I get it. I've been there.

You invested in infrastructure instead of another rep. 
You documented the process instead of just closing deals yourself. 
You built the thing everyone said would change everything.

And now? Crickets.

Here's what I've learned watching this pattern across dozens of companies:
The system is working. You just can't see it yet.

The bamboo isn't doing nothing underground. It's building a root system strong enough to support 90 feet of growth in a month.

Your revenue infrastructure is doing the same thing.

But most founders and execs quit right before the roots take hold.

Three things that keep you in the game:

1. Track roots, not shoots.
Stop staring at revenue. Start measuring what creates it.
Conversations started. Discovery calls booked. Proposals sent. Time-to-response.

Revenue is the bamboo above ground. These metrics are the roots.


2. Give systems 90 days before you judge.
You wouldn't fire a new hire after 10 days. Don't do it to your infrastructure.

Tweaking everything before anything has a chance to work is the trap.


3. Don't build alone.
Systems work is lonely. Especially when no one can see the progress but you.
Find someone who's done it. Someone who can look at your leading indicators and tell you: 

"You're closer than you think."


Those who break through aren't smarter.

They trust the roots longer.

We’ve been sold a specific version of success.

It looks like the corner office, the fast car, and the heavy watch.

We are told that once we get the objects, we get the peace.

But that is a lie.

You’re looking at the numbers in your head.

The real flex isn't just "choosing" to be zen.
The real flex is building the infrastructure that allows you to be zen.

For me, that is a 5x pipeline.

It is an always-on, 24/7/365 revenue engine (fueled by content and conversations) that runs while I sleep, while I play, and while I live.

That pipeline handles the "Safety" layer of Maslow’s hierarchy.

And because that is handled, I finally have the luxury to enjoy the "Presence" layer.

Don't just chase the symbol of success.
Build the engine that pays for your peace of mind.

The hypothesis:

The structure:

Section 2 → The blueprint (the 95/5 rule, the 7-11-4 rule, the 3 levels of outreach maturity)

Give them the win fast. Reward the curious with depth.

The unlock: This isn't just for sales and marketing teams.

Sunday morning. Publix run. Four tiny hands on tiny steering wheels.

This is it. This is the whole thing.

I used to measure success in closed deals and revenue targets. Now I measure it in moments like this one.

Not because business stopped mattering. Because I finally understood what business is for.

These moments are fleeting. My kids won't fit in this cart much longer. They won't want to steer with Dad behind them forever.

So I'm learning a skill they don't teach in business school: finding joy in ordinary moments.

Presence isn't passive. It's a practice.

You have to choose it. Over the phone. Over the mental to-do list. Over the illusion that happiness lives somewhere in the future.

The grocery store isn't a task to complete. It's 67 minutes of my kids steering past pyramids of strawberries and walls of bananas like they're on a jungle expedition.

4 minutes. That's how long it took Claude to do what used to take my team 4 days.

I've tested dozens of AI tools across 112 client projects.
Most collected dust after week one.

These six stuck.

1. Claude 4.5 - My default for deep work. I paste 40-page contracts, get risk flags in minutes. Handles long context without losing the thread.

2. ChatGPT-5.2 - The utility player. Fast image gen, voice brainstorms, custom GPTs for repetitive workflows. Not my core, but always in the rotation.

3. Perplexity - Replaced 80% of my Google searches. Competitor research with sources I can actually cite. No hallucinations on market data.

4. Gemini 3 - Best if you live in Google Workspace. Solid on SEO and multimodal. Output feels more corporate than Claude or ChatGPT.

5. Grok 4.1 - Interesting for real-time social listening. Not in my daily stack yet. Accuracy is still inconsistent.

6. DeepSeek V3.2 - The budget play. Strong on technical problems at a fraction of US model costs.

What's missing matters too.
Copilot and a dozen others didn't make the cut. Not because they're bad. Because I don't use them weekly.

This isn't a "best tools" list.
It's a "what actually ships" list and what I use.

The right model for the job changes your output economics.
Stop using one tool for everything.

I analyzed my last 37 posts this week.

The results surprised me.

My best-performing content? 
- Stories about Coach Carr. 
- Waking up at 4:40 a.m. for a job I struggled with.
- My daughter sitting on my lap with a fever.

My worst-performing content?
Frameworks. Metaphors. Tactical breakdowns.

The bamboo tree post I made with my kids I was proud of? Crickets.

The post about my 20s that felt scary to write? 3x the engagement.

Here's what I realized:

People don't connect with your ideas.
They connect with you.

YOUYOUYOUYOUYOUYOUYOUUUU

The posts that feel risky to publish are usually the ones that land.

Because vulnerability isn't weakness. It's proof you're human.

This is true in content. It's also true in sales.

The best salespeople I know don't lead with frameworks.
They lead with stories.
They share what they've learned the hard way.
They let you see the person behind the pitch.

That's what builds trust.
And trust is what closes deals.

Three things I'm changing:

1. Lead with the story, not the lesson.
The lesson earns its place after the reader cares.

2. If it feels scary, it's probably worth posting.
Comfort is a signal you're playing it safe.

3. Stop hiding behind frameworks.
Tactics are easy. Being seen is hard.

The irony?

The content that feels most exposed performs best.
The content that feels safest disappears.

Your audience doesn't need another framework.

They need to know you're human.

2025 was the year of prompting. Everyone learned the tools.

You're here if revenue grows whether you're on vacation or not. If your systems generate signal while you sleep.

Here's the key insight:

The old model: Innovate quarterly. Review annually. Hope it works.

The orchestration model: Run 10 experiments weekly. Find what works fast, in days, not months. Adapt before your competitors even notice the shift.

The teams winning in 2026 won't have better tools.
They'll have better rhythm.

High-volume experimentation. Daily iteration. Systems that adapt faster than you can think.
Adaptability.

It’s the root of innovation.

Motion beats strategy.
Orchestration beats prompting.

Tinkering is one of the top skills of 2026.

Sitting with a tool and trying it out is the vibe this year.

Early morning. My daughter was doing her usual thing - playing "work" next to me while I tested Loom's new SOP feature.

So I pulled her in.

We made an art class together. 
Created a digital sunflower 🌻 
Built an actual SOP at the end.

She's 6. She didn't read the documentation. Didn't watch a tutorial. Didn't ask for permission.

She just... started clicking.

And she figured out half the features before I did.

This is how the best operators learn new tools in 2026:
→ No 47-minute YouTube deep dive first
→ No waiting until you "have time to learn it properly"
→ No perfectionism paralysis

Just open it. Click around. Break something. Fix it.

Tinkering isn't wasting time.
It's how you build intuition faster than any course.

The people pulling ahead right now aren't the ones with the most certifications.

They're the ones willing to sit with something unfamiliar and play.
