Hello hello, anybody here?

I’ve been away from LinkedIn for 4 months.

I chose my newborn daughter over content, growth, all of it.

So when I was thinking of a comeback post I realised:

ALL THESE COMEBACK POSTS LOOK THE SAME.

“I stopped posting but secretly signed ten new clients. Business exploded while I was offline. Life is amazing.”

PFFFTTTTT. 

When you are new in business (and branding) you think you have to uphold this perfect image.

Always winning. 
Always booked out.
Always “crushing it.”

That's what these polished gurus taught us.

Eww.

So here's a refreshing comeback post:

While I was away, my business took a big hit.

Client projects got delayed.
Onboardings slowed down.
Team members left.

Revenue dropped to about 20 percent of where we were 4 months ago.

Some clients sacked me. 
I sacked some clients. 

No tidy comeback arc.
No “and then we 10x’d” story.

Just a dad who took time off, and paid the price.

So if your'e reading this I want you to know:

In a feed where everyone’s ‘crushing it,’

If you stepped back to care for what matters most,

You are not lazy.
You are not weak.
You are not behind.


You are doing the right thing.
You are playing your own game.
Remember,

Your Clients can come back.
Your Cashflow can come back.
Your Views can come back.

But your time with the people you love never will.

LITERALLY no other LinkedIn coach will tell you this 👇 

(ahh yes the truth needs to be told) 

Building a big audience on here is unbelievably hard. 

Like David Goggins level hard. 

There is NO hack.
NO magic system.
NO secret.

No algorithm trick that suddenly “blows you up.”

Nah.

Most of what you’re being sold is snake oil.

Take me for example:

- I locked myself in my room and engaged 16 hours a day.
- Did it for 3 months straight off savings.
- Reviewed 1,200 profiles for free.
- Ran a 15-hour livestream helping people for free.
- Gave away a free course 12,000 people took.
- Commented, DMed, engaged till I passed out, then did it again.

And even then I got lucky.

My audience only grew because a few posts went mega-viral.

Right place, right time, right post. 

This is what the gurus don’t tell you.

Almost everyone with a big audience and strong engagement has done one of two things:

Built it through ridiculous, obsessive hard work.

OR 

Hired a team to pump out broad “internet-friendly” content daily.

Which usually means:

They either had A LOT OF TIME
Or A LOT OF MONEY. 

If that’s not your life right now, I’m warning you:

Tread carefully.

Don’t chase popularity.

Chase peace. 

Here’s the smarter way:

Post about your actual expertise.

Build a real relationship with 2 new people a day.

That’s it.

You don’t need a thousand likes.

I got a thousand likes yesterday and today I’m stressed replying to everyone 😅

Clout looks nice on the feed.

In real life NO ONE CARES. NOT 1 person. 

Don’t waste your life clout-chasing, mate.

It’s not worth it.

Instead chase quality. 
Share real opinions. 
Be the person our feed needs.

We send a once monthly agency update to ~150 marketing leaders.

We share client wins, team wins, and highlight a few pieces of viral content we’ve made in the last 30 days.

The entire goal of the update is to nurture our warmest leads.

But the biggest ROI from the agency update has been something personal for me:

I added my grandparents to the email so they can get a peek into what I’m building.

Both of my grandfathers were legit business men.

One of them built and sold an insurance firm.

The other was a President for Xerox in the mid 2000s. 

My grandpa who worked at Xerox received our agency update on Friday, where I shared a little bit about our sales process.

He replied, mentioning how he is really into retirement and doesn’t think about work much, 

But he said the email reminded him of the Xerox professional selling approach. 

And he provided a full breakdown of their SPIN selling process.

Something about being able to share my early career with the wisdom of both of my sharp grandfathers is quite literally the coolest thing I think I’ve experienced.

Here’s something ground breaking:

If you want your brand to be witty on socials, the person making the content needs to be witty.

If you want your brand to be polished on socials, the person making the content needs to be polished.

If you want your brand to be unhinged on socials, the person making the content needs to be unhinged.

Luckily all of these are skills that can be learned.

But companies seem to overlook the importance of matching the talent they hire for social media with their goals of how they want to show up on socials.

Don’t expect the vet marketer you hired in 2018 who isn’t clever, to suddenly create clever content for your niche brand overnight because you decided you want to take a page our of Ryan Air’s book.

Like anything, it’s a skill that needs to be built.

Or you can skip the growing pains and hire outside help.

Want to know the MOST underrated sales tactic for 2026? 

You wouldn’t believe it.

Paid is the shorter term solution.

Organic is the longer term solution.

If you have a budget, throwing money on paid will get you more immediate results.

But over time, achieving those same results will become increasingly more expensive.

Whereas throwing money towards organic will easily take 90+ days to see results.

But over time, achieving those same results will become increasingly cheaper.

If you stop spending on paid, that leadflow will immediately shut off.

If you stop spending money investing in organic, the algorithm will still push ALL of your content 24/7. 

Both paid and organic have a role in your social strategy, confusing their roles is what gets you in trouble as a social media manager.

Paid, immediate results, short term solution.

Organic, slower results, long term solution.

i legitimately cannot remember the last time i was on a meeting i didn't want to be on.

also, i legitimately cannot remember the last time i was able to passively be in a meeting.

you know, the classic camera off "nothing from my end, thanks" type contribution.

every single meeting has a purpose.

pretty sweet.

I’m in NYC.

Get some breakfast.

Head right to a coworking space.

First thing I do there? Go right to the bathroom.

The train ride and oatmeal caught up to me.

I sit down in the middle of three stalls.

There’s a dude in the stall to the left.

There’s a dude in the stall to the right.

At first I sat down locked in on my mission.

But after 10 minutes I began to take notice of the fellas to my right and left.

They were grinding.

Working hard on their mission.

Suddenly I felt an energy.

The guy in the stall to my right said something.

"Can I get some TP??"

It was no longer just about my mission.

I reach down, grab some extra TP for him.

Hand it under the stall.

My mindset changed, we're now a team. All grinding for a common end goal.

Just three brothers doing their duty in the dimly lit bathroom of the 5th floor Regus in Manhattan.

I didn’t get to shake their hands but I would’ve loved to.

So now I’m posting this with hopes that they see this.
