On Friday I attended my first AllBright Step Forward Event. 

It was an awesome day of insight, connection and inspiration. Alice Olins and the team did an incredible job curating a fabulous line up of speakers.  

Hearing from the awesome panelist like Kat Wong  Zarina Banu Natalie Duvall Sophie Catto Eliana Sydes FPFS TEP Lucy Yeomans was so encouraging and refreshing. 

Building from scratch takes alot of dedication and focus. To hear the stories of women who built despite doubt, challenges and set backs provides a variety of much needed possibility models.

The different rooms were full of ambitious women who are all creating impact on different ways. I left feeling super inspired. 

I also got to meet some of the team that I have been working alongside virtually over the past year 🤗

Yesterday, I attended my first meeting as a Trustee.

For a while, I'd been looking for a way to give back. 
Something that would draw on the range of experience I've built up over the years. 

I just wasn't sure how to find the right fit.

Then, after a speaking engagement last year, Sophia Nicholls invited me to join the board of trustees for ASNA UK.

During my rehab recovery, I gained a new appreciation for people living with disabilities. Once I learned about the work ASNA does to support both individuals and their carers, I didn't hesitate.

Yesterday we mapped out our strategic plan for 2026 and I'm excited to see those initiatives come to life.

The way this came about is a reminder that showing up and sharing your perspective will open doors you never could have anticipated.

When my doctor said it would take a year for my achilles fully recover, I didn't believe him.

I was convinced I could outwork the timeline.

At six months post-op, I walked into physio with a limp. My specialist told me he could get me running again in another six months. I didn't believe him either.

Turns out they were both right.

Every small decision...following the advice, putting in the work, showing up regardless of how I felt quietly added up.

The actions you're taking right now toward your bigger goals might not look or feel like progress. But they are.

Keep going. One foot in front of the other.

The risky decision that changed everything...

In 2016, I walked away from the traditional corporate lawyer path to build something different - a portfolio career that actually fit my life.

I combined part-time in-house counsel work with building my coaching practice, while being present for my baby.

Instead of forcing my life around my career, I built my career around the life I wanted.

Ten years later, I'm seeing this become a movement. More professionals are rejecting the "default" career path and intentionally designing work around multiple passions and priorities.

There are so many more options now to grow in your career differently. I love that more people are thinking outside of the box!  

The best career decisions aren't always the safest ones. Sometimes they're the ones that let you show up fully both professionally and personally.
