I work in news production across both The Times and The Sunday Times. I work mainly on the news, world and comment pages. I am also studying a part-time NCTJ Diploma in journalism.

I worked at LBC as a freelance assistant producer and had written articles for the digital news desk. My role included a mixture of production, admin, and editorial responsibilities such as: preparing guests and confirming details, communicating with our reporters and our Digital team, screening callers, liaising with the lead producer about which stories will resonate with our audiences and which voices we haven’t yet heard in our broadcast, writing headline straps and controlling graphics for the social media and video livestreams, posting house-style Tweets, and monitoring the live output for Ofcom compliance and internal editorial standards. On occasion I have also stepped up to the role of Tech-Op meant being responsible for driving the desk and mixing audio feeds and levels.

LBC Assistant Producer

For three weeks from 10th to 28th July, I was a facilitator at a language learning summer camp called English is Fun, located in Fano on the Adriatic coast of Italy. I helped teach English to children mostly of middle school age. This included playing games, using flash cards, singing songs, and working with the language teacher to organise the various activities each day.

Head of the News Team for Surge Radio.
Responsible for overseeing all news and factual content output of the station.
Training any and all members involved in the News Team and providing and developing both broadcast and journalistic skills.
Providing editorial oversight of members' projects.

Responsible for the scheduled programming of Surge Radio's 24/7 online radio broadcast.
Responsible for training the Committee Team and ensuring all members are trained.
Assisting the Station Manager and Assistant Station Manager in the direction of Surge Radio Station.

Received a nomination shortlist for "Most Committed Committee Member" at the 2020 I Love Student Radio (ILSR) Awards

As a member of Surge Radio, I joined the News Team and contributed to multiple collaborative projects including outside broadcasts and weekly podcasts, as well as completing individual projects.
By January, I was appointed to Lead Producer of the flagship news show 'The Big Debate' by the Head of News.
Attended the 2019 Student Radio Association Conference.
Developed skills in: presenting, producing, news reading, podcasting, audio editing and more.

Wessex Scene

As an ongoing contributor to the UoS student publication Wessex Scene, I was primarily a News Writer as well as writing for Features and Politics.
I reported live from the May 2019 European Elections at the Southampton O2 Guildhall.
I developed skills in: writing, editing, publishing, reporting.

Responsible for editing our writers' news articles and scheduling publication times.
Deciding which areas of investigation the publication will pursue and working on completing the various investigations.
Ensuring the publication maintains a high standard in its news output and factual reporting.

Accepted award for Best Collaboration at the November 2019 Student Publication Association Regional Conference (South East) - contributed to the Black History Month Magazine made in collaboration with Ashamed Magazine.

Freelance Journalist & Radio Producer

Kendall is a sub-editor at The Times and The Sunday Times working mostly on the news, world and comment pages.

He has written about HR and related topics as a freelance business journalist for Raconteur.

At LBC Radio he managed on-screen graphics and straplines, liaised with guests and spoke to callers, among other responsibilities as an assistant producer working across various shows including Tonight with Andrew Marr and Weekend Breakfast with Andrew Castle. Additionally he wrote for the digital news site (lbc.co.uk), and drove the desk when required on overnight shifts.

He has been a podcast editor for the show Leadership in Colour from Shez Iqbal.

The importance of education and sharing knowledge cannot be overstated. Last summer Kendall helped Italian schoolchildren learn English at a summer camp. At university, he ran workshops on journalism and broadcast media whilst in the roles of head of news for the radio station, Surge, and news editor for the publication, Wessex Scene.

His main skills are: journalism, sub-editing, newswriting, interviewing, reporting, radio production, audio editing, podcasting and researching.

He is proficient in various publishing, editing and broadcasting software.

He is also interested in data journalism and smart cities/city planning.
