I recently watched Aishwarya Mohanraj’s confession video about why she chose to take Mounjaro. And I'm excruciatingly angry. (It's gonna be a lengthy post.)

Let me explain.

She spoke about being diagnosed with PCOD and thyroid issues. About being told that weight loss could help regulate her hormones. 

She did everything “right." Strength training, nutrition, 10k steps, stress control, better sleep. She lost inches. The scale refused to deflict.

Then came an injury. Forced rest. Weight gain. Frustration. She consulted specialists and eventually chose Mounjaro.

I am not angry at her decision. It is her body. Her autonomy.

I am furious at the narrative.

She framed it as a last resort that finally worked. Although she praised people who could “do it naturally,” it subtly felt like natural equals better.

Then she advised against taking it because of potential side effects. In the same breath, she mentioned she experienced none and that her periods became regular. That contradiction was hard to ignore.

She said it’s expensive and people shouldn’t take it lightly. Then added that it will become more affordable in the coming years.

This lack of clarity is what angers me.

As someone who lives with PCOD, I know how hard this journey is. It takes relentless effort just to feel normal. Women like her made me feel less alone. They made me feel seen. They spoke about acceptance, about working with your body rather than punishing it.

And when those same voices shrink after choosing a pharmaceutical intervention, suddenly, the unspoken equation returns:  Skinny = healthy = worthy.

Body positivity starts sounding conditional. 

PCOD is complex. Insulin resistance is real. Some people genuinely need medical intervention. There should be no shame in that.

But when public figures present these journeys without nuance, without discussing the psychological implications, the privilege of access, the sustainability questions, the long-term plan, it distorts the conversation for the rest of us.

For those of us still “moving mountains” daily, and trying to heal without hating our reflection.

This is not about her choice, but how easily we slide back into the old narrative: that smaller is better, that shrinking is winning, that transformation is the only satisfying ending.

Living with PCOD has already taught me that health is not linear and not always visible. I don’t need another reminder that the world still applauds thinness louder than resilience.

What I need, and what many of us do, is honesty without contradiction. 

Empowerment without a hidden hierarchy. And conversations that don’t subtly equate weight loss with victory. 

On a side note, I’m genuinely grateful that people like Vrushali Dhanore exist. 

When everything feels emotional and overwhelming, she brings the focus back to what’s actually happening inside the body—so people like me can see the full picture and choose with clarity, not urgency.
