Not quantifying numbers on a sales call is like a doctor letting a patient get away with saying ‘ah i don’t drink that much alcohol that’s not the issue….’

How many units per week?

“don’t know exactly but not many”

What do you drink may I ask?

“Just beer, rarely spirits”

Ok, so less than 5 times per week?

And may I ask a final question, what beer is it you go for?

Ok so 10-15 beers during the week, weekend is 3 beers at an event + let’s say 2 gin tonics. An average of 2 per month in the past 2 months.

Stella is 4.5% =, one of the stronger lagers. So that works out at 2.5 units per pint. Gin is 2 units for a double. 

So that works out per week at an average of 25-37.5 units from beer per week, plus 1 unit per week average if you have 1 double shot of gin.

So 26-38.5 units per week. 

The recommended limit is a maximum of 14 units spread over 3+ days with 2 alcohol free days In the middle. So you’re at least 2x almost 3x over the recommended limit on an average week.

MY BACKGROUND 🍀👇🏻

Until June 2023, I managed a portfolio of 210 companies and $6.5 million in quarterly LinkedIn ad spend at one of the most well-known companies in the world – LinkedIn. How did I get there?

I grew up on an Austrian winery in a village of 150 people near the Hungarian border. The people there were narrow-minded and often treated me strangely because I was different. So, at 18, I moved away.

Since then, I have lived in five different countries, earned three business degrees, studied at four of the world's top business schools, made countless friends from all over the world, and found inner peace with myself. It was a long, rocky road – but worth it.

Ich hab über zwei Jahre für LinkedIn gearbeitet, aber LinkedIn Ads erst danach wirklich gecheckt.

Dublin, Frühling 2021: Ich war im letzten Semester meines Studiums.

Noch vor Abschluss hab ich bei LinkedIn begonnen. 

Gestartet bin ich im Sales (üblich bei den großen Tech-Unternehmen), später dann intern zu den Marketing Solutions gewechselt.

Damals hatte ich, wie viele, die diese Rolle begannen, keine Ahnung von LinkedIn Ads.

Die Schulungen kamen natürlich direkt von intern:
↳ interne Best Practices
↳ theoretische Frameworks
↳ Produktwissen
↳ „offizielle“ Empfehlungen

Alles Theorie, keine Praxis. Und das hat sich im Joballtag kaum verändert. Ich war halt einfach Berater.

Außerdem: Alle in meinem Team hatten extrem viele Kunden:innen gleichzeitig zum Betreuen. 

Die Gespräche wiederholten sich somit und was die Unternehmen am Ende wirklich implementierten, konnten wir kaum beeinflussen.

Bei meinen ersten eigenen Kampagnen als Selbstständiger war das Imposter-Syndrom riesig.

Wenn man von LinkedIn kommt, wird halt erwartet, dass man alles weiß 🫠 

Für mein 1. Projekt hab ich einen Monat gratis gearbeitet. 

Mein Ansprechpartner war der Head of Marketing, der sich ordentlich aus dem Fenster gelehnt hat für mich. 

Selbst die Designer produzierten nach meinen Anweisungen Content (no pressure).

Bedingt durch mein ADHS hatte ich nochmal extremere Ansprüche an mich selbst und wollte keine Fehler machen. Rejection Sensitivity hoch 10.

Daher: einfach mal alles so machen, wie in der Theorie gelernt.

Die damaligen Ergebnisse sind bis heute (!!) in meiner Top-Liste ganz oben dabei.

Ich hatte auch ein wenig Anfängerglück, denn der Product-Market-Fit des Unternehmens war immens gut und durch den Head of Marketing konnte alles wie im Bilderbuch implementiert werden.

Der Rest ist Geschichte.

Meine größten Learnings der letzten 2 Jahre:
→ Theorie & Best Practices unterscheiden sich oft massiv von der Realität
→ Die meisten Agenturen haben keine Ahnung, wie LinkedIn funktioniert
→ Empfehlungen von LinkedIn selbst seien immer gut abgewägt
→ Simplicity beats komplexe Funnels
→ Intuition is your best friend
→ Und: Es braucht wirklich viel zusätzliches Wissen, um LinkedIn zu “meistern” (klingt absurd, ist aber so)

Tatsächlich werde ich auch oft gefragt, wie ich so gut up-to-date bleibe. Die Antwort ist recht einfach: Mein Newsfeed ist voll mit Tests, Learnings und Erfahrungen anderer Expert:innen.

Ich sehe Updates schneller als damals noch intern bei LinkedIn.

Es gibt weltweit nicht viele Leute, die genau das machen, was ich mache. Wir sind eine kleine, sehr spezialisierte Community und ohne sie wäre ich heute nicht dort, wo ich bin.

Die Inside-Perspektive von LinkedIn selbst, operative Praxis, mein Sales-Background, das Strategie-Studium, meine Intuition, die ADHS-Kreativität, das Netzwerk, etc. - all das macht mich zu dem, was ich heute bin.

Die Kombi so nochmal zu finden, wird wohl schwer, und da bin ich echt stolz drauf ❤️‍🔥

Wie glaubt ihr, wird sich LinkedIn nächstes Jahr entwickeln?


2026 wird spannend, denn die Plattform hat sich ja alleine im letzten Jahr extrem verändert:

1) Immer mehr C-Level, Gründer:innen und Angestellte haben begonnen, ihre "Personal Brand" aufzubauen.

2) Nicht mehr nur Softwareunternehmen, sondern auch traditionellere Branchen pushen ihre Mitarbeitenden mittlerweile, auf LinkedIn aktiv zu werden (oft mehr schlecht als recht)

3) Gleichzeitig ist organische Reichweite so niedrig wie noch nie und User haben nun die Möglichkeit, diese zu “boosten” (sehe ich bisher vor allem gut für LinkedIn’s Geldbeutel)

4) LinkedIn Anzeigen werden immer mehr nachgefragt und immer noch wissen die wenigsten, wie sie richtig funktionieren. Vor allem das Skalieren von organischen Brands ist wichtiger denn je

5) Creator Partnerschaften bzw. Influencer Marketing geht nun auch auf LinkedIn richtig los und bietet ein völlig neues Spielfeld an Kundengewinnung

6) Ich höre immer mehr negative Stimmen und demotivierende Kunden, die nicht posten wollen, weil ihnen LinkedIn zu sehr wie Facebook wird. Und ja, übertrieben Selbstdarstellung und private Fotos stehen mittlerweile auf der Tagesordnung

7) KI-Floskeln und generische Texte prägen unseren Alltag. Mittlerweile freue ich mich aber über die Entwicklung, denn mit etwas Gehirnschmalz kann man da ganz leicht hervorstechen

Für 2026 sehe ich daher folgende Schlüssel-Strategien für LinkedIn:

↳ Spezifischer Experten:innen Content statt Engagement-optimierte Posts. Die Nischen werden gewinnen.
↳ Creator Partnerschaften & Corporate Thought Leader Brands in Kombi mit LinkedIn Anzeigen, um Skalierbarkeit zu schaffen.
↳ Strategische Platzierung von LinkedIn als Marketing & Sales Kanal. 

Leute: Ihr könnt nicht einfach nur mehr Anzeigen laufen lassen und randomly posten; ohne Konzept und holistischer Strategie. 

Ihr müsst endlich beginnen, vernünftig in den Kanal zu investieren - Zeit aber auch Geld. 

“LinkedIn teuer ist und funktioniert nicht” gilt nicht mehr. 

Viele wollen es nicht hören, aber Unternehmen BRAUCHEN nun LinkedIn wirklich, um erfolgreich zu bleiben. 

Ain't no way around it, denn B2B ist komplex wie noch nie.

Ich bin richtig excited, denn inmitten all den technologischen Entwicklungen scheint es so, als würde Menschlichkeit, Kreativität & Raffinesse (endlich) wieder zählen.

Wie seht ihr das?

Regelmäßiges Posten = anstrengend 

Ich zeige all meinen Kunden eine Content-Quelle, die für mich ein Gamechanger war: Gespräche.

Kundenmeetings, Sales Calls, interne Gespräche, Chats mit eurem Netzwerk, Podcasts, usw. 

👉 Diese bieten fast alles an Content, den ihr für eure Posts (bzw. teilweise auch Anzeigen) braucht

Hier ein Workflow der zeigt wie es geht & dem ich selbst folge:

1) Meine allermeisten Gespräche werden mit AI aufgezeichnet

2) Das komplette Transkript eines Calls oder ggf. von mehren Gespräche gebe ich dann in meinen Custom GPT 

↳ (Achtung: immer sichergehen, dass ihr keine personenbezognen & unternehmenskritischen Daten teilt bzw. das vorher abklärt)

3) Der GPT sucht mir dann Themencluster raus und erstellt konkrete Post-Ideen  je nach Kategorie

4) Die für mich besten Ideen nehme ich und füge meiner Notion-Übersicht hinzu. Basierend auf meiner Content-Strategie, meinen Zielen & ICP-Definition.

5) Die Posts schreibe ich dann von grundauf selbst und mache ggf. Sparring mit meinem anderen Custom GPT

6) Sobald ich zufrieden bin heißt es "Voilá - Post is ready to ship"

🤌 WICHTIG: Das funktioniert auch, wenn ihr euch selbst zu gewissen Themen interviewt. Einfach eine grobe Struktur mit Fragen definieren und mit der AI quatschen.

Mein Tipp:
Verwendet die KI zur Inspiration und für Struktur. 

Schreibt eure Posts aber so gut es geht selbst. Euer Netzwerk wird den Unterschied merken.

Klar, der Newsfeed verändert sich zu dieser Zeit.

Traffic verschiebt sich (logischerweise) stärker auf Mobile. Die Nutzung sinkt insgesamt, und die Leute sind weniger im „Business-/Buying-Modus“

ABER: User scrollen trotzdem und konsumieren

Trotzdem pausieren Unternehmen genau in dieser Zeit ihre Anzeigen

Das bedeutet für euch: Weniger Wettbewerb, günstigere Preise & mehr Sichtbarkeit

Ihr seid präsent, während eure Konkurrenz es nicht ist.

Pausiert daher gerne ausgewählte Kampagnen, aber bitte nicht alle.

↳ Nutzt „Always-on“-Content mit weniger Conversion-Fokus
(Tipp: Manche Kunden:innen hatten trotzdem gute Lead-Zahlen in dieser Zeit - testen lohnt sich!!)

↳ Baut Vertrauen auf und zeigt euer Produkt/Service: Case Studies, Thought Leader Ads, Produktinsights

↳ Verwendet “Manuelle Gebot” + ein aktionsbasiertes Kampagnenziel (z. B. Website-Besuche, Video Views, Engagement) → Dann zahlt ihr für Aktionen und nicht Impressions

So holt ihr das absolute Maximum heraus ❤️‍🔥🎄

Eure Ads brauchen 8–10 Touchpoints (im Monat!!) um Wirkung zu zeigen. Viele Ad Accounts, die ich checke, schaffen nicht einmal die Hälfte 🙂 


Eines der größten Missverständnisse rund um LinkedIn Ads ist die "Frequency" bzw. "Häufigkeit".

Diese Metric ist mit einer der wichtigsten, wenn es um euren Kampagnenerfolg geht und doch wird sie komplett falsch eingeschätzt.

Aus irgendeinem Grund haben Unternehmen super viel Angst davor, User mit zu vielen Anzeigen zu "nerven"

Worry not: Ziemlich sicher ist das Gegenteil der Fall und eure Ads werden viel zu wenig ausgespielt 🙂 

Wann habt ihr euch denn das letzte Mal an eine Ad erinnert, die ihr nur 1–2 Mal gesehen habt? 

Genau.

Damit Anzeigen "zu viel“ ausgespielt und User wirklich genervt werden, müsste nämlich einiges passieren:

↳ Eure Zielgruppe ist klein
↳ Euer monatliches Budget zu hoch (as if :))
↳ Euer Content folgt keiner Strategie
↳ Und ihr wechselt Creatives nie aus

Ok, cool Max. Tell me how it’s done.

In den allermeisten meiner Kundenaccounts folge ich der immergleichen Guideline (Zeitfenster: 30 Tage; excluding Text- & Spotlight Ads):

→ Kalte Zielgruppe: Frequency mind. 6
→ Retargeting Layer: Frequency mind. 8
→ auf User-Level über alle Kampagnen: 8–10, besser mehr
→ auf Creative-Level : 2.5–3 (danach sinkt die Performance meistens deutlich; ABER: wenn es läuft dann läuft es. Never change a running system)

Unsere komplette Planung dreht sich also immer rund um die Kernzielgruppe.

Um die Kennzahlen zu erreichen, braucht es an ausreichend Budget, präzises Targeting, ein kosteneffizientes Kampagnen-Set-Up, strategischen Content etc.

Wie lange ihr das durchziehen solltet → 365 Tage im Jahr. Warum das so ist, behandeln wir ein andermal.

Wenn ihr zu wenig Budget habt, um diese Benchmarks zu erreichen, dann könnt ihr:
→ Sub-Zielgruppen definieren
(kleiner = günstiger = höhere Frequency für weniger Geld möglich)
→ Retargeting Layer stärker bespielen, niedrigere Frequency im Cold Layer
(gleiches Prinzip)
