I used to believe the only way to start a business was to build a startup and raise funds.

But there’s another path: building a one-person business.

I started freelancing in 2021, alongside my studies. I signed up on Malt and found gigs in under a month.

Even though I had almost nothing to offer — just one skill I picked up during two gap-year internships.

Since then, I couldn’t imagine doing anything else but running solo with an online business.

I made €2,179 in February 2026 with my side-projects:

RedShip is growing. I’m putting a lot of time into it.

MyFeedIn is slower though: €872 vs €1,320 in January (about -34%).

Big reminder for me: the difference is rarely “more features”. It’s MARKETING!!

March goal: 3000€.

I found a way to write comments without “writing” them.

I just added a small feature in MyFeedIn: you can now speak your comment.

Click the mic, talk, and MyFeedIn transcribes and formats it for you.

Speaking is simply faster than typing.

If engaging is one of the best ways to grow on LinkedIn, this makes it much easier to do it consistently.

I analyzed my last 100 LinkedIn posts.
And most of my bad posts had one thing in common.

The posts that worked the best usually had:
> a personal story
> a strong hook in the first line
> a simple idea people can relate to

The posts that performed the worst were almost always the ones where I was trying to promote MyFeedIn or RedShip.

I was writing things like:
> “Here’s a new feature.”
> “Now the product does this.”
> “Here’s how it works.”

In other words, I was talking about the product, how it works.

But people don’t really care about the product. 
They care about the transformation.


For example:

❌ “MyFeedIn lets you organize creators into lists.”
✅ “Following 200 people on LinkedIn without losing focus is almost impossible.”

Same feature, same product.

But one talks about the tool.
The other talks about the change it creates.

So if you’re writing content about your product or service, try to sell the transformation, not how it works.

(This post is mainly for me. I say this, but it's really hard to do 🙃 )

The best way to find a product idea is to solve your own frustration.

I didn't build MyFeedIn because I spotted a market opportunity.
I built it because LinkedIn was driving me crazy every single day.

The feed was full of noise 
→ I built custom lists to follow only who matters.

Commenting took 30 minutes 
→ I built a focus mode to do it in 10.

I had no idea what content worked 
→ I built an analytics dashboard.

Every single feature came from a wall I personally hit.

If you're frustrated enough to build it, someone else is frustrated enough to pay for it.

(You'll still have to market it though. Nobody said it was that easy 🙃)

Everything is an excuse to build stuff: 
I needed to screenshot a LinkedIn post. But doing it manually is horrible, you need to dezoom, try to get the social stats... 

As I'm lazy, I took 2h to build a little Chrome extension to do it.

Unpopular opinion: it’s easier to post every day than once a week.

Daily posting keeps you “warm.” Weekly posting forces a restart every time.

But the real reason daily wins is simple:
Quality comes from quantity.

When you post once a week, you get 52 reps a year.
When you post every weekday, you get ~250.

That’s ~5x more chances to:
- build the habit of capturing ideas
- write faster and write better
- turn raw thoughts into clear posts
- test hooks, angles, and formats

And the hidden benefit: you stop relying on “new” ideas.

After a few months, you’ve already written dozens of posts. So you start reusing the same core ideas... but better:
cleaner hook, tighter structure, stronger examples

Posting once a week can make sense for deep technical pieces.

But for most creators, daily is how you get good, and how you give yourself enough shots for LinkedIn to finally click.

Am i wrong?

He only had 2 hours a day. He turned it into a $3M business.

Back in 2017, Pat Walls had a full-time job.
But every evening after work, he’d spend 2 hours in a Starbucks building his side project: Starter Story.

Fast forward 6 years: $3M+ generated 🤯

What changed everything?
👉 Consistency.

The image below shows his GitHub activity. The greener the squares, the more he shipped. And you can clearly see it: he coded almost every day, for years.

Proof that you don’t need 10 hours a day to win.
You just need to show up every day.

I posted 731 posts since January 2023. Some posts get 10k views, some get 500.. and I finally understood why.

Now I track all of it with the analytics dashboard with MyFeedIn.
All my posts. Views, likes, comments. Everything in one place.

And when you see everything clearly, you learn fast:

→ Which hooks actually stop the scroll
→ Which type of post performs best
→ Which old posts deserve a second life because they crushed it the first time

I was guessing for 3 years.
Now I just look at the data.

Pieter Levels has one of the highest failure rates...
and yet, he made it.

In 2014, he shared a simple Google Sheet on Twitter: NomadList.

The file went viral.
So he coded an MVP in a few days.

Originally, it was part of a challenge: launch 12 startups in 12 months.

Today, NomadList is a huge database for digital nomads, filtering cities worldwide by cost of living, air quality, internet speed, safety, weather, and more.

At its peak, NomadList generated $700k+/year.
Even today, it still runs at $250k+/year in passive revenue.

And this is what people forget:

He’s launched 70+ projects. About 95% failed.

Pieter didn’t succeed because he found “the right idea”.
He succeeded because he refused to stop.

I lost my first paying customers on RedShip last week. Wait.. not 1, but 3... (i wanted to cry)

When your price is higher, every cancellation hits hard. You feel it immediately in your MRR. 

So instead of feeling sorry for myself, I dug into why they left.

I found three reasons. And honestly, all three are on me.


1. They weren't ready to commit.
They loved the idea of Reddit as a marketing channel. They signed up excited. But then they realized it takes 30 minutes every morning, consistently, to see results. RedShip finds the conversations, but you still have to show up and write the comments. Some people wanted the results without the efforts.


2. They didn't know what to do with the threads.
RedShip was surfacing great conversations, but some users opened the dashboard and thought "ok... now what?" That's a product problem, not a user problem. I'm reworking the experience right now to guide new users better, from finding a thread to writing a comment that actually works.


3. I wasn't there enough.
I send an onboarding email after signup. But looking back, that email probably wasn't good enough. It didn't create a real connection. Now I'm trying to hop on a call with every new user. Because I think some of them would have stayed if they'd just had 15 minutes of guidance from me early on.


I can't get those 3 customers back. 
But I can make sure the next ones don't leave for the same reasons. That's what I'm working on right now.

Let's be honest: LinkedIn analytics page sucks right???

1 graph, 2 big numbers and just your list of posts ordered by views.
But you can't do anything with it.

You can't see which hooks actually work.
You can't track your comments performance.
You can't find which old post is worth reposting.

It's 2026 and this is all we get???

LinkedIn doesn't take care of its creators. But I am here for that, don't worry. So I built something for you.

Most of us spend way too much time before publishing... and almost zero time after.

We obsess over the idea, the hook, the structure. Then we hit publish and move on. But the part that actually makes you better over time is the analysis.

I used to do it manually on LinkedIn: scrolling through my old posts, trying to compare weeks/months in my head. It’s slow, and you miss obvious patterns.

So I added a feature in MyFeedIn: period comparison.
Example: last 30 days vs the previous 30 days, side by side.

I did it on my own posts for the first months of 2026, and a few things stood out:
> Posts with a personal photo performed better
> Stronger hooks clearly won
> Mentioning money in the hook boosted results

Publishing is only half the work.
If you want to improve faster, you need to review what you posted!

Are you doing it? What is your process to do so?

A user DMed me last week:
"Bro every time I reopen a conversation on LinkedIn I have to scroll up and re-read everything to remember what we talked about"

(ok he didn't say bro. But the pain was real)

And he's right.

You chat with someone about a project idea.
2 weeks later they message you again.
And you're scrolling up for 30 seconds trying to figure out the context.

When all you'd need is one line.

"Wants to collab on a LinkedIn tool."
"Freelance dev, looking for projects."
"Met at Paris meetup, follow up in March."

One line. That's it.

LinkedIn never built this. So I did.

What should i build next?

I launched RedShip 3 months ago... and it already got +1,000 SEO clicks.

Here's what I did:

1) I built SEO pages from day one
Features pages, alternatives pages, free tools pages.


2) I spend ~30 min/day doing Reddit marketing
Every morning:
I open RedShip → I check the threads it finds → I jump in with 10–20 solid comments.

I almost never drop a link. I just mention the name.
Result: in the last 28 days, 377 clicks for “RedShip” on Google.


3) I optimize what's already ranking
I’m not adding more pages yet. I’m improving the ones that already get impressions and clicks.

I could go further with long articles too. But honestly... Reddit marketing is already pushing SEO by itself.

The hardest part of building a product isn't the code.
It's making people know it exists.

In February, MyFeedIn dropped 34% in revenue.
Not because the product got worse, not because users left.
Because I stopped talking about it.

I was heads down building RedShip, and MyFeedIn quietly starved.
The product didn't change. The attention did.

Here's what I've learned after 2 years of building in public:

You can have the best product in the world, but if you're not consistently putting it in front of people, it doesn't matter.
Marketing isn't a launch. It's something you do every single week, even when you'd rather just ship a new feature.

So if your product isn't growing right now, look at your calendar from last week.

How many hours did you spend building vs. telling people about what you built?

The ratio is probably your answer.
