I was responsible for defining and executing on the roadmap for the case management product area. Our focus was on enabling HR professionals to be as productive as possible while providing the best possible experience to their employees.

My primary focus was on building new products and features focused on recruiter productivity. I was the lead PM on the new job requisition workspace feature which remains the most frequently used feature in the Recruiting product suite.

Sales isn't difficult. The difficult part is to give your champion the words to sell your idea to the management.

Deals dragging on usually means your champion didn't have the words, means, or motivation to close the deal internally 👇

When internal champions can't articulate why you're the obvious choice, they struggle to sell your deal to the decision makers. They delay, hiding their inability to convince their bosses, before dissapearing completely. 

I (partially) blame marketing. We sold the simplicity of the value proposition as "something your grandma needs to understand". 

That's the wrong angle. Leave your grandma alone, she is under enough stress keeping you fed.

The simplicity of your offer is important so your champion can remember how to pitch you to the decision makers. 

"We level up your company's decision-making abilities" BRUH 🤢, nobody's remembering that...

"Make important decisions with ease (by understanding pros and cons)" - now that's something every champion can bring into a management meeting.

Getting to a simple value proposition isn't easy. Especially in crowded markets.

Hi there 👋

My name is Andrej. I've been in marketing since... 2015 (Yup, that's 10+ years ago; I believe growth hacking was just becoming a thing back then).

In that time I've had a lot of successes. More failures. What I know today came from a combination of reading, implementing, trying, and failing. 

Those frustrating failures turned into anger, anger into obsession, obsession into perserverence... until the thing finally worked. Followed by a careful analysis why it worked.

I became fascinated with people's behaviors. Why sometimes we buy and other times great products get left on the shelves. 

Today, that's where I work. In a overlap of human behavior, marketing, and growth. 

I help tech companies with at least $1M+ in revenue understand what makes them special and why their clients buy. We use that knowledge to position their products, and the brand, so they are ready for growth.

But we go further than that.

I will spend my weekends on things I remember loving. Things like traveling, go-karting, snowboarding, and (15 years after I bought it) I want to (re)learn how to play my guitar. 

Ironically, time off often actually improves my work. And that's good because I want to do more. I want to work on high-growth, high-pressure projects, I want to continue meeting brilliant people, I want to shoot for the stars. (If you miss... right?)

So... that's me. The long and short of it.

This was sent to me by a friend. And it's kind of perfect to prove a point.

👉 When you are in a crowded market where all products are sort of the same, you can always compete elsewhere.

Now, obviously the video is meant as a joke, but it does show there are "hidden" customer needs even in markets with very defined products that all compete on price.

Because there is a difference between: 
- How much would you pay to have an item delivered
- And how much you would pay to save a relationship.

If your funnel is broken. Your sales cycles end in no deals. Competitors always seem to close your prospects... here is the stat, you'll want to hear:

Roughly 76% of deals go to the market leader -> the company that's positioned best on the market. (no, not a stat I made up, it's something Peep Laja of Wynter discovered when interviewing 100+ CMOs / decision makers).

The reason is simple. They are a known quantity, making it the least risky choice. 

If I have to promote a service provider, who am I going to promote? The one that doesn't end costing me my job, obviously.

So you tried to get around that. And build the better product. Except... either prospects don't seem to care, or all products sort of look the same because true tech innovation stalled.

After years of struggling with your company's positioning, you deserve a different approach. I'm running a masterclass: "3 secrets to differentiating in extremely crowded markets" where I'll reveal:

If you are a marketer and feel you can't differentiate your product (due to all product sort of being the same), you can still give your company an advantage. Here is how:

We did that with a number of growing companies in crowded markets by reverse engineering differentiation from a buying decision:

The process starts by asking your client what makes for a "good product" in their mind:

If we take choosing a sports car in the $60k - 100k range (as an example of a crowded, mature market), a "good car" might be down to: 
- Powerrrrrr (Unfollow me if you can't see Jeremy Clarkson right now)
- Design
- Top speed
- Tech
- Status

Most of these will be taken by bigger competitors. But if any of those needs are unmet, you can build your brand around it. You can become the sports car company that takes the crazy design to the next level, like Lamborghini did, you can increase people's status like Ferrari does, etc. 

The catch? You can't really outcompete a competitor that is known for something. But also, if you get it right... Competitors can't outcompete you.

B2B leaders that stand out get 76% of deals, leaving their competitors struggling.

Let's continue in the comments, how do you see the founder-led initiatives companies today use for visibility (such as founder branding on LinkedIn)?

Marketers offering BF discounts on services? Are we nuts? I get you want a quick buck, but... 

Look. I see marketers, service providers, consultants offering black friday deals.

(What I thought were) Good copywriters offering heavy discounts on landing page rewrites, agencies offering free months of managing, solopreneurs offering free workshops.

Here is why YOU CAN'T WIN with this move:
- If no one buys, you killed your credibility and authority. You'll struggle for months in 2026.
- if people buy, you'll end up rushing the projects, knowing you aren't getting paid enough for them.
- people buy, you do projects well, it limits your time to do proper sales in early 2026.

It's a lose-lose situation.

If you don't have work in q4, I am sorry, you have a foundational problem.

Work on your networking, positioning your offers, or closing, depending on where the problem in your funnel is.

But whatever you do, DON'T discount your work for a made up consumerism holiday or you'll end up in the same situation in 2026, wondering where it all went wrong.
