The Moment Your Business Coach Sends You a 47-Page Proposal Is the Moment You Should Find a New Coach

I've been on both sides of this.

Early in my career, I thought more pages meant more value.

More deliverables. More frameworks. More proof I was worth the investment.

I was wrong.

Here's what 40 years in business taught me about complexity:

𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝘅𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗶𝘀 𝗮 𝗵𝗶𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲.
When a coach can't explain what they do in one sentence, they don't know what they do.

𝗣𝗮𝗴𝗲𝘀 𝗱𝗼𝗻'𝘁 𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿.
A 47-page proposal is designed to overwhelm you into saying yes. Not to serve you.

𝗖𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗶𝘀 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲.
The best coaches I've worked with could explain their approach in 60 seconds. Because they've done the work to simplify it.

𝗢𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝘀 𝗮 𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗹𝗮𝗴.
If the proposal is complicated, the coaching will be too. And you'll spend more time decoding frameworks than actually transforming.

The uncomfortable truth?

Coaches who bury you in pages are often compensating for a lack of depth.

Real expertise simplifies. It doesn't multiply.

The Stoics had a word for this: sophrosyne — the art of knowing what's essential.

A great coach doesn't need 47 pages to prove their worth.

They need one clear promise. And the ability to deliver it.

What's the most overcomplicated proposal you've ever received?

Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication. Leonardo knew it. Your clients deserve it.

How about the coach who sends a google doc to explain his 200K program? Or the coach who charges 100K and doesn't have a program?  How about the woman who is 80 and charges 1 million, who doesn't have a "program"?
