In 2018, I was selected to lead the Ethics program for Cambia Health Solutions, a 5,000+ employee total health solutions company that is committed to transforming the healthcare industry. 

AWARD-WINNING ETHICS PROGRAMMING 

As Director of Ethics, I led efforts that enabled the company to be recognized for the 4th year in a row (2018-2021) as one of the World's Most Ethical Companies, as 1 of only 4 healthcare companies recognized globally for an award given by the Ethisphere Institute, a global leader in advancing the standards of ethical business practices. During this time, I provided ethics leadership through consultation, education, and policy development within a highly regulated environment, and was asked to participated on the company’s Compliance Committee. 

SUCCESSFUL IN GETTING DATA & AI ETHICS INITIATIVES OFF THE GROUND 

I was successful in maintaining our award-winning status within a landscape that has rapidly shifted in recent years, with an intensified focus an investment in data, AI, and other technologies. By securing executive sponsorship to invest in AI/data technology, we were able to launch the company’s inaugural data & AI ethics initiative.

INNOVATIVE IN APPROACHING ETHICS TRAINING 

By providing forward-thinking approaches to training, I was able to pique employees’ understanding, curiosity, and engagement in ethics. Early on, I modernized our ethics training to meet the needs of today’s diverse employee population, resulting in the successful launch an innovative “Ethically Speaking,” five-podcast series that interviewed Cambia leaders who had navigated ethical challenges successfully. This initiative well-received with 750+ downloads per episode.

KEY PARTNER IN SUPPORTING INNOVATION & WRAP-AROUND CARE

As legal partner, I established the legal framework needed to support company’s transition into a total health model, requiring the need for new policies, structure, and an acute awareness of new risks, compliance, and ethics associated with innovation. I supported the Convenient Care team, an internal innovation group focused on bringing wrap-around health care to 3.1 million members, including services like teleheath, transportation, in-home health, second opinions, digital devices, and wellness services.

I also provided legal analysis and support to various business departments responsible for complete lifecycle of commercial health insurance products.

Qmedtrix (now Mitchell Int'l) helps payors fight medical billing fraud. The Legal Department supported the analysis, defense, and resolution of billing disputes around the U.S., ensured legal compliance for product development, performed specialized consulting work, and handled traditional corporate law functions for the corporation. My legal work focused on health insurance cost containment products and human resources support.

•	Directed nationwide workers’ compensation and group health insurance litigation. Negotiated settlement of active disputes with attorneys and medical providers. 
•	Point person for medical expert consulting product offered in all types of civil litigation involving medical damages. 
•	Advised on corporate legal matters ranging from annual review and updating of employee handbook, forming new business entities, research memoranda on employment law questions, reviewing business policies, drafting contracts with customers and vendors to managing trademark registrations and renewals.

For 6 years, I helped shape the future products and reputation of Cambia Health Solutions, a $10B healthcare company on a mission to disrupt and innovate. I achieved legal compliance and business success for a variety of new products and services, with a focus on wrap-around care and digital and virtual channels.

In 2018, I was chosen to lead the company’s Ethics program for the enterprise, where working in close collaboration with my peers in Compliance and HR, we took the program to the next level by creating innovative delivery channels, securing global recognition of the program, and leading cross-functional work on data ethics. 

I also provide a forward-looking lens on problems, and am known for pioneering innovative strategies in learning and employee engagement that tripled voluntary employee engagement in ethics training for Cambia; a significant win for the company. 

What I find equally important to the normal discipline and structure you find in integrity and compliance programming, is the ability to create a culture where employee trust is established and maintained so that employees feel safe and heard. 

In July 2021, I started my next chapter at Tektronix a 75-year strong technology company with a global footprint. I'm excited to bring my skillset to the Fortive family companies where growth is a given and improvement a necessity.
