Years ago, I made a mistake 
that still shapes how I lead today.

We were deep into a project with a large PR client.
 
Pressure was high, and everyone was pushing to show their value.

Midway through, someone on my team misread a part of the brief.
 
It meant redoing a big piece of the work.

I didn’t explode or blame anyone.
 
But I pulled back. Kept my distance instead of stepping in.

A few days later, that same person stayed after hours to help another teammate with something they weren’t even responsible for.

Nobody asked them to. 

They just cared about the outcome.

That moment shifted something in me.

It showed me that leadership isn’t about control or micromanagement.
 
It’s about presence.
