Steven Glod

Adopted from Korea as an infant, I built my first landscaping and snow removal business at age twelve—and sold it when I was twenty. I grew up in a suburb of Chicago surrounded by ‘lifers’ at Fortune 500 companies, and knew early on I wanted my career to look different. 

After graduating from Indiana University with a degree in Chemistry and a stint in derivatives trading, I dove into the world of startups. I co-founded the Rent Nest in 2012 (‘Evernote’ for apartments), which led me to a six-month stint living in Romania and a whole lot of learning. We wrapped up the business in 2014 (key takeaway: your tech infrastructure needs to be flawless), and I joined Machinio later that year.

During my time at Machinio (world’s largest search engine for used industrial assets), I helped scale the organization from a startup of 3 to a company of 100+ spanning the U.S., Europe, and Asia. I relocated to Berlin in 2016 to further scale international operations, and oversaw Machino’s acquisition by Liquidity Services in mid-2018.

I’m now investing a lot of my time into helping startups scale across multiple different continents and I’m always looking to network and connect with anyone passionate about startups, crypto, and SaaS sales.

As head of engineering at everphone I oversaw the strategic technological changes that were critical to the raising of the companies series B.
This included building out and management of an engineering team, a migration to the cloud, build out of a Golang GraphQL endpoint, rebuilding of core products.

As CTO at a startup my role changed as the company grew but at all times I was building scaleable technology and teams. I was heavily involved in hiring and shaping the engineering team quality and culture as well as defining processes and structure. A special area of focus at Live was the utilization of the datascience team to deliver value to all facets of the wider company and ensuring the productive use of this team. I also personally wrote code throughout my time as CTO, predominantly backend and data engineering.

Spling Inc

At Spling I was responsible for building out the technical team as well as overall architecture. 
On the technical side there was a heavy focus on recommendation engines, but a significant client side product was built as well - we were one of the first companies to use backbone in production.
I oversaw turning our B2C product into a B2B product by exposing our internal REST api for general use.

Spling was awarded the Bucknell Venture Plan prize and subsequently raised venture capital money,  clients included Hearst Corporation and the Discovery network.

Dreamit Ventures

Spling successfully completed the Dreamit fall 2011 program, culminating in a launch of the product on dreamits demo-day and a writeup in TechCrunch
