Wanted to share a little update in the spirit of fully embracing the entrepreneur life...

For more than a year, I’ve been running my online business helping founders build their brands on LinkedIn.

Now, I’m starting a physical business too where I’ll be training students for IELTS.

I've worked with some incredible people (still am) and I've learned that you should always have a problem-first mindset when you're starting a business.

So I sat down and wondered:

- What is a proven problem in the market?
- Has steady demand... ideally till the end of time ;)
- Aligns with what I’m naturally good at.
- Can scale over time.
- And can eventually run without me

IELTS coaching fit perfectly.

It’s something I’ve personally experienced.

I took the IELTS exam when I wanted to study abroad and scored well.

The goal isn’t only to teach but to learn how to run a business from the ground up.

I've set up a physical space (super exciting)

Will eventually be hiring people and building systems that can work without me.

I’ll continue working with founders on LinkedIn while building this new business from scratch.

Two completely different models, both teaching me different lessons about life and business.

Just applied to the Clay Bootcamp 🥾 scholarship. I've heard Nathan Lippi 🥾 talk about finding your 'edge.' So here's mine:

Till the age of 27, I had nothing going on for me.

A bit of context:

My dad had passed away in 2016, which made me want to change my life but I didn't really know how to.

I graduated with an Electrical Engineering degree (barely passed) in 2017, tried finding a job till 2018, failed, so decided to pursue a master's abroad.

My family and I funded my master's by selling a car my dad had bought for me - this was enough for me to move to Istanbul for my master's (Energy Systems Engineering) 

But my heart was never in Engineering. 

So, towards the end of my master's in 2022 (delayed because of COVID) I decided to change careers.

And I wanted to be remote so that I didn't have to leave my family behind in Pakistan.

It was a massive risk because I had invested so much in Engineering (money and energy)

But I somehow made marketing work for myself. I landed a remote internship, turned it into a part-time role, then landed a full-time role, then another full-time role, and I did it all through my personal brand on LinkedIn.

I was doing all of this from my home in Nowshera, Pakistan. 

However, towards the mid of 2024, I realised I wanted to go solo. So I did.

I launched Baghi (named after my late father) where I help B2B founders build brands on LinkedIn.

I've also launched a podcast where I interview successful LinkedIn founders from all over the world.

But I've always wanted to do 'more' so that I can grow as a person and as a professional.

The next logical step in my career is to learn about GTM tech so that I can upskill myself and become a better marketer.

In an ideal world, I'd like to help B2B businesses grow not only on an organic level, but also through other channels.

I'd like to think my story is my edge.

The most pivotal part of my journey is me realising that I need to take responsibility for my actions. 

Only when I changed the way I think, my life changed.

Today, I’m onboarding a Forbes 30U30 founder (Marketing & Advertising, North America) who leads an 80+ team.

You can imagine the level of credibility him and his business already have.

But there's one important thing to understand when you're working with such a founder:

It’s easy to get caught up in the business.

The case studies, the growth numbers, the brand wins - they're all supporting material. A sidekick you could say.

The hero of this journey is the founder and his thought leadership.

The lessons, beliefs, and frameworks that built everything people see on the surface.

If you can get people to understand how a founder thinks, they automatically understand why the business works.

Bringing that layer out is one of the most exciting parts of the work I do.

Grateful to be working with such incredible founders.

Every founder shows up on LinkedIn with a different end goal.

1. Some want to build thought leadership.
2. Some want leads.
3. Some just want to be recognized by their peers.

And that means, each of them needs a different kind of content.

If your goal is to attract peers or other founders, your content has to speak their language: talk about the kind of problems they think about.

Strategy, leadership, growth, decision-making, culture, etc.

If your goal is to attract clients, you need to get more tactical: talk about pain points, show how you think about solving ICP problems, make people see the value in working with you.

The nuance lies in where your ideas come from.

Are they pulled from founder conversations? Client calls? Internal experiments?

As I've talked about in my content before, content sourcing + writing are two of the most important things on LinkedIn.

If you don't know where to source your content from, you'll rarely succeed.

That’s what decides whether your content feels relevant and whether it actually gets you closer to your end goal.

You may very well spend months creating the kind of content that does not appeal to your target audience.

Every founder I’ve worked with faces the same two problems on LinkedIn - no matter the industry:

1. Lack of time.

This is the obvious one and I think this will stay universal for as long as we can think in the future.

There are many things on a founder/CEO's plate and content can easily be the lowest on a priority list.

They need a sustainable system in place - perhaps run by someone within their team.

But the catch is, a founder/CEO must dedicate a few hours every month for content.

The best content will come from them directly and not from your marketing assets.

2. Lack of LinkedIn expertise.

Most founders/CEOs have incredible expertise but don't know how to present them via content on LinkedIn.

In this case, they can outsource the execution (content, scheduling etc.) to cover that gap but they'd still need their dedicated input to make content work.

Every single day we're building tools and processes to achieve one singular goal: "Maximum quality with a minimum time and money investment."

But somewhere along the line we're forgetting that we MUST have dedicated input to make such tools and processes work.

In the case of LinkedIn, we simply cannot outsource or automate thought leadership.

Saw this brilliant visual from Andrei Zinkevich about the buyer’s perspective in demand generation and I've been thinking about it since.

If I think about it from a founder brand's perspective, the founder's content is all of these stages.

Your content (if done right) naturally speaks to every type of buyer.

From the ones just learning about the industry to the ones ready to sign a contract:

1. The curious ones (“I want to learn”)
→ find your educational and industry insight posts.

2. The problem-aware ones (“We want a solution”)
→resonate with your pain-point content.

3. The evaluators (“We want a solution like yours”)
→ connect with your frameworks and how-you-think posts.

4. The convinced ones (“We want your solution”)
→ pay attention to your case studies and behind-the-scenes content.

5. And the ready buyers (“We’re ready to buy”)
→ respond to your offers and DMs because they’ve been following your story all along.

In general, all of this is covered if your pillars are:

1. The industry (to educate)
2. Your audience’s pain (to empathise)
3. Your own journey (to become relatable)

Just wrapped up a content call with a founder. Here’s the framework I use in case you’re a founder struggling with content:

My first step is to go in without looking for “content ideas.”

I’m trying to understand how they think.

Because a founder's thinking, the way you make decisions, what you’ve learned, what you’re figuring out... that is the content.

So instead of asking about surface-level updates, I’ll get curious about what’s underneath.

If they mention a big call with a potential client, I’ll ask what the client’s sentiment was, and how long the deal might take.

Today's founder had a demo call with an enterprise client so we dived into what makes enterprise deals different from small teams for their solution.

Suddenly, you start talking about sales cycles, buyer psychology, and process challenges.

Then we move to reflection.

This could be about a new feature the deployed but didn't work, client feedback that backfired, etc.

I’ll ask what didn’t work, what they’d do differently, or what felt like a turning point.

The goal of reflection is to get a founder's mindset out.

And if numbers come up, such as website visitors, conversions, trial users, we use them as data to back up our claims.

To summarise:

Don’t talk about your business but talk through it.

Your decisions, experiments, and lessons are the best sources of content on LinkedIn.

How many of you work-from-homers miss being in an office?

I know I dearly miss being in one.

The last time I was in an office was in Istanbul, working as a student assistant in my university.

Don't get me wrong, I love the flexibility I have today but sometimes I wish things were different.

A solution is to join co-working spaces but where I live, the closest one is an hour away.

Even then there's a disconnect with people around me.

Working from home can be pretty isolating.

Looking forward to any tips you guys might have to keep yourself sane.

And most importantly, how do you battle isolation?

Q4 is here, budgets are being drawn, so here are 3 reasons why your founder brand should be a part of it:

1. If your founder has immense credibility but it’s not visible online, that’s a problem.

Your competitors aren't going to wait for you.

They’re already sharing their founder’s insights, their leadership philosophy, and how they’re running the company.

It’s all a game of “Who can we see the most?” and when people start seeing their face more often than yours - they win mindshare.

2. Big companies are hiring for this specific job function. I wonder why?

We’ve already heard “Head of CEO Content” roles and I’m not going to dive into it again (they’re probably a grab for attention) but it should give you an idea of where the tide’s turning.

Companies with significant brand equities are seeing the value in investing here.

That should tell you how powerful founder-led content has become.

3. You’re already allocating thousands to marketing, but don’t forget the top of the funnel.

Paid ads, lead gen, demand capture - all of that performs better when paired with organic content from your founder.

Other marketing channels will compound if your founder becomes the face people trust.

Now, let’s talk about bottlenecks.

1. You’ll probably think AI will do the job but 2 months down the line, you’ll have wasted your time.

Utilizing AI is fine but it can become a bottleneck if you’re relying ONLY on AI.

You need someone who knows what they’re doing - someone who can extract your founder’s thought leadership and then make content distribution on LinkedIn efficient with AI.

2. Hand it over to marketing.

You’ll think, “I have a CMO who can write my content. No need to outsource or build a dedicated function inside my org for this job.”

Another bottleneck because a CMO or Head of Marketing has tons on their plate.

You need someone who has been on LinkedIn for a few years, who understands content fatigue, the algorithm, how to make LinkedIn-native content, and so on.

A generalist won’t cut it.

3. Time.

You (as the founder) might give it a shot.

If you can make 4-5 hours for this specific task every single week, then you’re good to go.

However, you have tons on your plate. You don’t have time.

You may start posting but you’ll soon hit writer’s block, get frustrated in the “What do I talk about?” circle and quit LinkedIn.

The solution… outsource or build a dedicated function within your org.

So as you finalize your Q4 plan, make sure your founder brand isn’t left out.

It’s not a nice-to-have anymore.

I keep coming back to what a client of mine once said, "It's not thought leadership if it's from a collective consciousness."

The strongest credibility you can build online starts with what you’ve already done offline.

Every piece of content you share should come from your own experience.

Something you’ve lived, learned, or built.

If you want your audience to trust you, they need to feel that what you’re saying comes from your world, not something you borrowed.

That means:

When you share lessons → they come from your own expertise.

When you talk about ideas → they come from your own thought process.

When you express passion → it’s coming from your own journey.

There are plenty of people with immense credibility offline.

But if you want to build a founder brand online on a platform like LinkedIn, you need to talk about those experiences.

You don't have to reinvent anything.

Just bring your offline credibility into the digital world.
