Promoted to Technical Manager to lead projects in the Web Applications space expanding responsibilities to Workstream lead & delivery leading multiple projects in parallel. Lead teams of developers to build applications using the MEAN stack (NodeJS, Angular, MongoDB). Was part of all aspects of the projects including project inception & elaboration, infrastructure, architecture, technical implementation, testing and delivering the code to production.

Projects Included: 

-Claim Notifications Node Service: Part of an Award Winning Solution (Insurance Canada Technology Awards (ICTA)), the Node Service connects the backend Claims system (Guidewire) to customers via SMS for updates on their claim lifecycle. Built using NodeJS, the application connects to Twilio API and using a shortcode sends text messages like claim number and repair shop information to customers who are subscribed to the service. 

-RBC Legacy Viewers: Angular application hosted on a Java backend to allow claim agents to view a read-only view of historical claims, policy and billing data migrated as part of the acquisition of RBC Insurance from RBC. 

-Weather Notifications: NodeJS & AngularJS app integrated with OpenWeatherMaps & Twilio to send out text messages to customers to warn them about severe weather. 

-Vehicle Recall Notifications: NodeJS & AngularJS app integrated with Twilio and vehicle recall API from Government of Canada to send out text messages to customers above recalls on their vehicles

-Payment Reminder Notifications: NodeJS & AngularJS app integrated with Twilio to send out text messages to customers to remind them about upcoming and overdue payments.

Joined Aviva Canada as a Senior Business Systems Analyst as part of the Business Solutions Delivery Team (IT)  to help deliver project ideas proposed by the Business.

-Lead a team of developers to help build an API using CSIO standards that allowed users to do a quick quote & full quote for auto insurance. The API was meant for Digital Brokers to connect into allowing them to build their own website for customers.

Senior Business Systems Analyst, API Integrations

IBM Canada Software Lab - Toronto

Worked as part of the IBM Watson Health Imaging team, developing the IBM Watson Imaging Clinical Review application, coding on the front end (UI).

Helped develop the UI framework of the application using AngularJS and NodeJS. Developed visualizations such as bar and line graphs to show data visually using D3js library.

Helped others on the team understand UI framework as needed by answering questions and providing coding guidance along with programming best practices

Worked as a Software Developer on the IBM RAVE Visualization team helping to design and implement the various layers on the advanced visualization engine API. 

Worked on features as well as defects for RAVE 2 Bundles, which sit on the application layer, above the RAVE core and capability layers

Coded in Java, occasionally writing and debugging JavaScript code as appropriate

Other responsibilities: lead the daily team scrum, as well as helped support RAVE 1 by working on customer facing defects as required

My journey in tech began with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, which led to a rewarding career at IBM. 

As a programmer there, I sharpened my skills in various programming languages such as Java, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS. 

In my own time, I also pursued iOS application development as a personal project, diving into the complexities of building apps for the platform.

My ambition and leadership abilities eventually brought me to Aviva Canada, where I transitioned into management. 

Working my way up to a Senior Manager, I provided both technical and people leadership, guiding a team of 30 through the challenges of project delivery. 

My role wasn’t just about managing; it was about inspiring my team to excel and innovate and work together to build internal and external applications. 

But the desire to carve my own path was too strong to ignore. With a lifelong passion for web design and an entrepreneurial spirit, I founded Nijher Digital Corp.
