This doesn’t happen because you’re bad.

That’s why the smartest people at senior levels don’t just ask “What’s my CTC?”
They ask “What problem do I uniquely solve today?”

₹40 LPA corporate role and ₹12 LPA government role fail for opposite reasons.

In Corporates sector (₹35–40 LPA)... sometimes a decision goes wrong. You’re questioned in meetings, timelines shrink, expectations rise. Your notes are action items. You’re paid to fix, defend, or replace yourself fast.

But in the Government sector (₹10–12 LPA).... when a decision goes wrong. Files slow down, approvals stack up, responsibility diffuses. Your notes are references. You’re trained to delay, document, and protect the process.

That’s the unseen trade-off. Corporate punishes wrong decisions quickly. The government punishes risky decisions quietly.

This is why people struggle when they switch. Not because of the salary difference but because decision habits don’t transfer easily.

Before choosing, don’t ask “Which pays more?” Always Ask: Which system matches how I handle risk every day?

People who earn ₹28–35 LPA often optimize the wrong thing.

They focus on working more. But at this level, value comes from thinking better, not doing more.

I think seniors do experience it differently like they protect their decision energy, not just their time, they stay close to where money is decided, not just tasks, they build one skill that works in any company, they avoid roles where only execution is visible, sometimes they aim to be consulted, not instructed

This is why some careers last 15+ years,
while others slow down very early.

At higher salaries, hard work is normal.
Strategic usefulness is rare. That’s the real difference.
